Johnny Saturn arrives at Drunk Duck

Posted at

Hi, Drunk Duck Community!

I just wanted to drop in and say hi, that I'm bringing my longtime strip Johnny Saturn to Drunk Duck. Johnny Saturn also runs over on Webcomicsnation, but, this is such a great community, I figured that many of you probably met all your webcomics needs here. So, rather than try to uproot you to go look at my strip elsewhere, I'm coming to you! On this site, Johnny Saturn can be found here:

http://www.drunkduck.com/Johnny_Saturn/

Since this is a new place, I've opted to go ahead and start the strip from the beginning, and run it weekdays. If you feel and overwhelming desire to jump ahead a couple of months, then go here:

As far as the Drunk Duck formatting goes, I haven't tricked out my page yet. It looks deceptively simple, yet I'm finding it harder than I thought. I'll get it done, though.

For those of you (99%, I'd imagine) who don't know me, my name is Scott Story, and I've been hanging around the print comic industry for about a decade. I've done comics for publishers like Amp, Devil's Due, Image, Digital Webbing, Arrow, etc., etc. Later, I moved into webcomics, where I've done strips like Interplanetary Grift with Jim Keplinger, and I've got an article on webcomics coming up in the next issue of Sketch Magazine.

Johnny Saturn is the tale of a hard-bitten mystery man and his mission to hunt down and foil the plots of master terrorist, Dr. Horatio Synn. This drama is post-modern superhero crime noir at its grittiest! I like to call Johnny Saturn the best post-modern, deconstructionist, paranormal, superhero, crime noir comic with mythological overtones there is!

Wow o_o, an old guy……Welcome to Drunk Duck!

Thanks so much, Glarg!

Of course, I hope you mean that Johnny is old, not me. Johnny is an old 45, but I'm a youthful 41. That's an important distinction you know.

Wow a print turned webcomic veteran of the industry, welcome to DD! Majority of the people here (including me) are youngsters that are just starting out, maybe, as a treat, you could do some tutorials for us lesser experienced people. Im sure people would like it.

I'll keep that in mind, Adariel. To do that, though, I would need to know what people are interested in.

Welcome aboard Scott :)

Lots of people help out with tricking out the templates over here, and we have a Tips and Tricks Section where you can figure out where to help if you so wish ;)

Thanks, Volte6. I did indeed find out out to fix up my page, and while it's still not 100% done it's pretty close.

Thanks so much, Ozoneocean!

I have to say, I have been very impressed with this site. The community seems very active in their comics. The system that allows you to easily upload ten pages at time rules. And, everything, from the comics to the forums to the control panels, is so tightly integrated together that you are just a few clicks away from everything. Very convenient. Last but not least, giving the cartoonist direct access to the template to personalize his page is simply wonderful. A smart cartoonist, like DJ Coffman on Hero by Night Diaries, can simply do some very attractive things with it.

Welcome Scott! I just read through what's up so far and love it. It's very cool that you've found your way to this neck of the internet.

Welcome! Very interestic comic, too :)

Thanks, Tantz Aerine and KomradeDave! I'm not one to make big, bombastic announcements, but I feel safe in saying that you've not seen anything yet. The way Johnny Saturn starts, it looks like a superhero strip, but it eventually moves into some very surprising terrain and genres. I hope you stick around!
