Surfboards and Rayguns is an absolutely BRILLIANT comic. It has wit, it has charm, it has hot aliens, it has action. Today's update has a ton of GREAT action. Bradleyo is a marvelous artist. Everyone should stop what they are doing and read this comic!

In other news, George the Dragon updated today.

One ring to rule them all…!

I love the parallel used here between being married and the LORT reference. Perhaps the ring is really magical and will tie into the story, who can say. But as far as gags go, it was used well here!

That's some funny stuff there. Reminds me of the old "Foto Funnies" in the National Lampoon magazine.

Today on Times Like This: Cassie turns the tables! (Okay, so it's ONE table…)

Posted at

It might only be one table, but it's nicely turned, PyThomas. ;)

*******

Morphic is up - a day late - and the long-awaited explanation of "What the heck is going on?" is still underway.

Posted at

Morphic! So exciting to find out the truth about things - the art here totally complements the story, revealing things slowly. Very nice work!

***

Blood Groove nears the end of the second chapter, "Surfacing" - but we're about to lead into the next chapter. Taking down the raging monster is only half the battle - the rest is figuring out why

Posted at

Bloodgroove The Sewer Kraken is defeated and looks really awesome in the last panel. The colors on this page are great. Also I like how there aren't any panel lines on I think it was panel 3 at the bottom. The art just stops! it looks really cool and original.

Wakon Yosai Snowy is up against an enemy that appears to be unstoppable! And this guy is just the begining of the force that has been set to crush Dehnitown!

Nice page. The speech has that empowering feel, the kind of scene that takes place in all epic movies as the lesser forces prepare for a climactic battle. I definitely get those vibes from the dialogue. I think the simpler coloring style works. I miss the complex stuff (shading), but I understand about compromises for the sake of time, update schedules, and sanity.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Page 597 of Used Books shows Mike's attempt to defend himself – and his attacker's reception of his apology/explanation from previous pages. My brother acted as a model for me for the first panel as I tackled one of my major artistic weaknesses.
They say that revenge is a dish best served cold. The rest of that saying has been lost to posterity but some believe it goes on to say "and with a length of chain". Of course when I say "some" I really mean Meredith in today's instalment of Used Books.
Not for those of a nervous disposition. Or fans of Mike!
******************
Meanwhile, over in the latest instalment of Shades, we continue our trip down memory lane (well, for those of us whose memories go back 2,000 years anyway!) as we delve deeper into the backstory of the Shaman and Bedlam.
Wow, those guys have some issues!
Posted at
Shades: When DAJB told me Harsho was leaving Shades, I was pretty gutted…but this new artist is doing a fantastic job of keeping the comic's original feel whilst making their mark. This update is no exception with some gorgeous dialogue and art.
If you're not reading Shades, you need to!
The Chronicles of Wyrden updates today, someone has an itchy trigger finger!
A very nice picture of betrayal you've got there. Must have been hard to get the effect of someone getting shot in the head right with B/W. Another fantastic page on Chronicles of Wyrden. Seriously, everyone, go read.
Warriors of the Night updates today with the goodbyes having been said, there is nothing much else to do than leave.
Illegal Aliens. I dig how this segment ends, with the cocky dialogue, and the click to black. Cool.
Engine updates. The battle between Korsair and Dan-Jir continues. The mysterious voice has a plan……but is it one Korsair will be happy with??
TTyler is in my opinion the most technically skilled artist here. The latest page for Engine is exciting apparently something really cool is about to happen.
In Wakon Yosai the enemy has already breached the city walls!
Wakon Yosai is a very cool comic that makes very nice use of a limited color palette, quite a bit of action and on top of that is an enjoyable strip.
In 'Arctic Blast!', Brogan and Mo start a workbook to help them get along better.
@ARCTIC_BLAST - interesting mix of characters. A polar bear, a bird, a seal, and an eskimo. Also, the color scheme reminds me of winter (which is right around the corner…)
You should go check it out. :)
Wow, I wasn't expecting a self-crucifixion. Excellent artwork.
Today on Times Like This: A bit of a chase scene!
Posted at
In TIMES LIKE THESE, the main heroine is chased by…Inspector Gadget?? (Not really, but there are similarities…)
In the CROSSOVERLORD, at http://www.drunkduck.com/Crossoverlord/index.php?p=462092 the cosmic entity "Ringo" is trying to get some volunteers. (Hey, we're tired of pompous names for cosmic entities, thank you very much.)
WWE The Comic shows us why it was a finalist in the Best Photo comic catagory. The actors are all top notch pro's in this multi-million dollar production. The Undertaker bites the big one it seems!!!
I can't get over how you can update several absolutely fantastic, professional-quality comics… Anyway, the latest update of Engine does some really great visual storytelling. The facial expressions are spot-on, and I love the pacing. It's got a bit of classic irony, as we the audience realize what is happening before the characters do – and when they see it, it's too late. In short, great page. Everyone should read (or look at?) it. (Yes, everyone. Go now.)
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

One of my favorite pages of Used Books went live today. It's a turn of events that could be … good? Who is coming to the rescue? A knight in shining armor? Well, not really. But a rescue is a rescue.

EDIT

Another page is up now. Page 600 has nothing particularly notable. It's not as fun or active as page 599, but it has a nice emotional exchange – And it is a nice round number. Lol

You can comment on either update.
