I rant/vent them because they're the unusual stuff that happens on the job. A comic wouldn't be a bad idea, though… :)

can i have the rights? i mean, i'll find em all, and then draw two pages but hell. it'd be fun

i'm only joking…kinda…

I wouldn't mind doing a few either lonne, i think raw honesty makes some of the best comics, even if they're not very long :)

Speaking of comics i think i know why the japanese invented anime style; Asians are f*cking hard as hell to draw :gem: Well for me at least, they keep looking white blarghhg i just want a serious/realistic Asian-american woman :gem:
At least i can draw black people okay, though he turned out like bernie mac :/

Back to the negative and annoying…I am no longer the resident "piggy". It's looking like it's completely over. The guy isn't dead, but I should have fucking killed him to make this more worth while. I was in the right. I was in the law. I was in the policy. The city council decided to fuck me in the ass and as a result, I am unhirable.
What did you do…? Naughty man.

That's strange, seeing how good you are at adapting your styles. Just get some portrait images and compare them to European faces to find out what makes them different. -thicker lips, smaller mouths, wider rounder cheeks, smaller rounder noses, shallow nose bridge, shallow eyes, thicker eyelids with no middle fold… etc.
Those are just the common traits. Knowing them won't help you draw the faces better, but it tells you what to look for and work on.

Personally I have trouble drawing ANY face from imagination, any nationality, without screwing it up. I have to re-draw them all over and over till I get it looking acceptable. I'm getting worse at faces -_-

All I know is that the style evolved from Disney. A Japanese comic artist made a successful comic that endeared itself through the style he used. So the "manga" style we see today (large, expressive eyes, small nose and mouth, etc…) evolved from an adaptation to the Disney style of cartoons. Well, that's what I read anyway…

It's nice that my entire sunshiney weekend was taken up by being repulsively sick, and that now I'm feeling better I have to do work and it's raining sideways in manic bursts. Really, it is nice. >:[

Also, why can't I get any *good* unexpected things with work for a change? It's always something unexpected, with a horrible deadline, and usually means I have to do work that someone else didn't do.

I better get a bonus this year, that's all I'm sayin.

This is why we love to have you over: Americans have a pretty good work ethic - at least the ones who come here seem to, which is good for us because we generally like to shirk, dodge and avoid getting things done at any cost. Things have gone downhill in recent years as so many American working practises have been introduced: if we're going to have American working practises, we need American workers to practise 'em.

Glad you're feeling better. :)

My job offer's still open. Lot's of "good" unexpected things to do ^^
See, I've already picked out a uniform.

[/perv mode]

Seriously though, if you had the choice, what's better in a job:
Money, being comfortable, prestige, advancement, not having to make decisions, being in charge and having responsibility, hard work, easy work, challenging work, fun work, creative work, non-creative work, exhausting work, just something to pay the bills while you do the REAL stuff elsewhere, a job that can be your whole life…?

I'm really not sure.

So i may not be totally screwed :) Basically i underestimated how fast the freshmans would fill up classes this year(i.e. i'm a procrastinating fuck) and not even one class in what i needed was open. But at 12:01 tonight is the last minute to pay for classes and if they're not you're automatically dropped, meaning i could get the classes i need with swift vulture like reflexes i shall tear the refresh button a new asshole as i compete with other slow morons for a place in the class >:D

This is why we love to have you over: Americans
I'm also told that while people dislike the American combination of ignorance/self-importance, they like the somewhat frightening friendliness and ability to laugh at themselves.

Anyway people like you are the reason I like England, witty self-depreciation and a sense of being 'in it' together. :]

Seriously though, if you had the choice, what's better in a job:
I think those all have a different appeal at times! I can't really complain, unannounced work tasks are really the worst of it, and if I were a little more assertive (or felt less responsible) I could avoid some of it. All things considered I make decent money, they give me lots of flexibility (like working from home), I'm left alone to get on with things, and most of my coworkers are pretty great. Plus I get some job benefits that people back in the US don't like hearing about because it makes them jealous.

But at 12:01 tonight is the last minute to pay for classes and if they're not you're automatically dropped, meaning i could get the classes i need with swift vulture like reflexes
Back in my day you had to show up in person to register, signatures were required, lines to wait in, forms to fill out, more lines to wait in… and you had to wait until a certain time before you could do it, so seniors would get to do it first etc. Still, that was better than the first year they did online registration, because the system crashed and they weren't equipped any more to do in-person reg, so everyone had to wait a panic-filled week while they fixed it.

13:44 for my 2 miles. 10 seconds off my goal. i over estimated my endurance, and began really quick. i ended up running the first mile in 6:37. and mathmatically, the second mile was 7:07. mostly, i was really slow, on the lap between 1 mile and a mile and a half. (it's a .4 track) if i woulda paced myself at 6:45, eight seconds slower, i pry woulda done better….

lets see if i can beat that on friday…frack…i have to work…i hope it's not super early show time…

We certainly get a sense of being 'in it', and without a paddle too, but how can we complain with such charming houseguests?! :kitty:

Well it turns out my sprite comic Ironsprite won't be eligible for nomination after all and at only three pages, Son Of Whasisname probably won't sweep the board either but I'll get over it: I've learned so much since joining this site, how could I not be a winner?

Just this very day I learned about the pros and cons of eyebrow plucking f'rinstance and at my age, that's starting to be a relevant topic. :(

after seeing Ozone's suggestion for a maid uniform…

If I ever hire a maid they'd all be wearing Catholic Nun uniforms. Well, except for the headdress which is standard maid frill fare (or something like that). :)

Aghhh, I finished reading Catch-22 a week ago, which is fine, but normally when I finish reading a book, I'm done, period, but with this I keep rethinking about Yossarian, Orr, and Mcwatt's characters. I just cannot get it out of my head.

Also, yay, finally enough money for a tablet! Now I just have to wait for a coupon to come out.

That's what made that book a classic in my opinion. I spent days wondering about the idea of how a person could be damned like that. If you got the version with the end notes, read the bit about the news anchor who was slapping "Yossarian Lives" stickers all over the studios. It's an interesting follow-up.

I'm also told that while people dislike the American combination of ignorance/self-importance, they like the somewhat frightening friendliness and ability to laugh at themselves.

How much does it cost to move to England? That sounds like an amazing populace that I'd be more than willing to put up with.

Here, it seems like if you make a joke at your own expense, people think you need counseling. And while I might need counseling, it's sure as hell not going to be for that.

And on another note, is it weird that Admin flirting gets the same "oh gross!" reaction from me as if my parents were flirting? lol!

Your job sounds like a dream. Personally, I'd rather not work at all… but I like buying things. But for working, I'd like to try out something with high prestige I think. I dunno.

I dunno if that was a flirt. Whatever it was it was pretty gross even to me and I was the one who typed it out.

…not that I wouldn't mind Skool as a sexy maid. ;)
I'd wear that!
You, lba and I can form a chorus line. :)

Any more takers?

I wish i could find an online gallery maker with no flash shit for my comic experiments, like it would have a comment function and be easy to add like DA or a forum, only had minimal clicking/scrolling and didn't have to be associated with the site.

I'd make a site myself but i got rid of my hosting, eh i should wanking about it, i only want one so i can see my progress and keep track of all the crap i'm doing/abandoning really.

Master's degree in a field underrepresented in the UK, 6 months of low-yield online job hunting with maybe one or two videoconference interviews, various fees and applications and some more waiting, and a plane ticket!

After work today I go pick up the dog I'm going to dogsit for 1.5 weeks. The happiest dog ever, I'm hoping she's got slightly less energy this year though. :]
