Ack! While cutting jalapenos, I got capsaicin under my fingernails! I'm trying to finish my Gelotology strip before midnight, but my hands are BURNING.
I don't think that catfish is bad as long as you're wearing some good underpants that doesn't allow it an opening. But I do agree that the best defense against them is to not be where they are. :)
Went in a "raid" against those farms Skoolmunkee was talking about in Oblivion. I swear if I was that farmer and I saw people harvesting crops I worked so hard to grow, I'd be calling the town guard on them. That's Radiant AI for ya… It's gotten dangerous of course; I'm being attacked by boars, bears, and shocking axe wielding bandits. And I'm only level 7! So I decided on a better way… buy all the ingredients sold by the inns and alchemists (under 5g) turn them into potions, then sell them back. Made some good money so far and in the safety of the city too. :)
You know, It's really important to have creative fuel: Entertainment, info, or communication in whatever form that inspires you and fires your imagination along new and interesting paths to help you create.
It's obvious, but I never really considered it. I tended to think of watching TV, movies, reading books, playing computer games etc as interesting diversions at best and mindless time wasting at worst (mainly games)… But I was just re-watching an old anime series for the first time in years last night and I remembered how much it inspired me to create the first time I saw it (massively inspired me), and it contrasted quite a lot with what I'm currently doing: I'm still doing the same sort of stuff but I'm not really directly feeding off of any creative inspirational sources, mostly all my stuff now is based on old ideas or stuff that's mainly developed fully in my mind with no outside inspiration- I only look for references after the fact. It's just not as fun that way. -_-
I Mostly only watch DVDs to stop myself getting distracted while I draw- I mainly listen to them rather than watch the whole things. Mostly I read news, science reports, literature, I listen to news, listen to documentaries, read historical studies… It's fascinating stuff, but in NO way inspiring. I stopped yesterday and realised what I was listening to on the radio, and what was occupying my mind at the time and suddenly saw how utterly DRY it all was and how creatively I was getting ZERO from any of it.
So I think I need to start throwing myself into watching more fun movies again, action TV shows, play more games, read more comics, and all the rest. It's not just entertainment, it's a valuable resource for the mind! Your creative reserves need refuelling or you start to starve. T_T
Same here. I'm supposed to be working on my greeting card design for class. Instead I'm poking my way through bash.org
Hah! I love bash. I wonder why it never got as popular as fmylife is..
Creative media is the best background noise ever.
I love movies with dazzling visuals (Science of Sleep is a current favorite in that department) for that purpose, or musicals (Across the Universe being my favorite for THAT). I still prefer albums though; I remember doing a charcoal drawing with Tom Wait's Rain Dogs playing, and it came out so demented looking; I was happy.
….why the hell haven't I been making any more art as of late? Sometimes I get into those creative slumps and I don't even notice.
i really need to go run. this weekend has been lazy. i don't get to swim today, cause it's a holiday and the pool is closed…
i have no idea what i'm going to do this winter to motivate myself to swim. the pool is "heated" but i don't think even in the summer it's been over 70*. sure that sounds like a good number when it's 80* or more out (we only had about 10 days break 80* this summer. take that global warming) but when it's fifty out? in a giant building that used to be a b27 manufacture site? it's that old. when it's 0*f out? yeah. jump in do my thing and get out.
I love Abby Sanders writing day. I need to love Abby Sanders drawing days more, because then I can keep up with writing day.
I love Abby Sanders updating day. :)
—
I have to take the streetcar to go get my bike… but it looks like rain. After workin' 3 shifts there in the last 48 hours, the last thing I wanna do is get stuck inside the coffeeshop today!
Updating day is in a direct relationship with drawing day. Today was half drawing day, and half play left 4 dead all night day. Hopefully tomorrow will be the other half of drawing day. :]
i've found the key to motivation. it's not wanting to work out, but showing up anyways. cause then you run faster, to get it over with sooner. such as this last week, every time i ran, or swam, i set a personal record. i didn't want to do it at all this week. but i did.
oh, and i got a speeding ticket. 73 in a 55. it's a freaking back road, he's only the second cop i've seen back there in 8 months. good thing i slowed down…
So i clicked 'My favorites' just now and saw 'Furries rule the world' updated. It took me a minute to figure out when i fav'd it lol.
I'm actually a little excited about that community comic, seeing my stuff in an actual book will be cool and i like the majority of the contributors so that motivates me too.
I really wish I'd taken a creative writing class this semester. Sometimes I have this idiot idea to try writing one of those 'story comics' (the ones that are basically fanfiction-esque writing with some picture spreads every chapter) but i'm only good at writing research type papers and persuasion essays.
On another note i hated writing essays that were 'write about 3 of your personality traits' or 'write about a personal experience'. Some people love 'em but i usually just sit looking at the blank word document for 2 hours hating my life for being so boring, and deleting anything too personal. (i.e. everything)
You can tell my parents grew up poor, city people. They're actually embarrassed by the size of our house. I hope some of my parent's meekness has rubbed off on me. I can be very spoiled, but I never really -ask- for things, I just… get them. It's great, but I don't think it's been good for my character. One of these days I'll have to work for something, and I won't have any idea how to go about it.

Good God that is exactly what I'm writing about for my essay right now. It gets even worse when you feel like you accomplished nothing noteworthy in your entire life.
I should just write about Youth World Domination Club and how it is virtually impossible to get doomsday devices working without ludicrous electricity bills.
I'm 2/3rds done inking my 4th page. Well, "inking" 's not exactly the right term here. Sure, I do apply "digital ink" but the pencil layouts are pretty raw most of the time, so I'm actually drawing 90% of details.
It's a pretty good approach I must say. I get the best of both worlds. Doing raw layouts on a page size I'm familiar with + the ability to zoom up and do tiny detail.
This six page thing makes me push myself artistically more than ever before :D

On inspirations: I reconnected with one of my friends about 2-3 years ago, only to discover that he has amassed something like couple thousands comics. Soo, whenever I need a break from drawing and have to recharge batteries… I visit him with a big bag, haha.

I wish ka-blam was a bit faster. I know… It's the con season (one or two of which they were going themselves to), they're expanding their office, there's some indyplanet glitch thing that seems to be going on (I hope it doesn't affect sales/adding books) and then there's the "comicsmonkey" thing and so on. But I'd still like them to be a little bit faster.
Still, looking through my proof copy I must say that the printing is very good, colors translated quite well (and to be honest I was guessing what I'm using due to having a really crappy screen at the beginning of the work), everything's sharp. And now I know how my selected font-size prints (I'd say it's just right) :D
I have to go all the damn way downtown on the streetcar to scan a bunch of Hub pages, fanarts, drawings and designs and crap this week. I hate lugging portfolios around, almost as much as I hate the way Kinko's scans turn out.
