I'm tired of drawing anime…again -.- I'm gonna make it my goal this year to draw in a style that doesn't rely on it.
I'm out of coca cola and my stomach is getting period warning cramps, this weekend was supposed to be fun dammnit :/

The 2009 Rant, Vent, and Share thread
Ugh, I hate doing website stuff. But I need to make an umbrella site for all my comics. I'm just doing a recolor of an old template, and that's only halfway done. After that I have to code in an updates/art blog to embed in the main page. And then I have to hand-code a bunch of pages for my one-off comics, and after THAT tailor up at least 2 (maybe 4 if it's easy, if not, will need to do RSS feeds for the other 2?) comixpress templates to manage my ongoing comics' updates. And then if I still have the patience, try and do a couple other things to polish it up.
At least MOST of this stuff is at least hosted elsewhere, so once I finish the main pages I can make a temporary link to a drunk duck site before doing the nice website version of it.
i was getting into page design. and then my laptop crashed. with the half finised TDD. and then my wife crashed the car. then when everything was sorted out, i tried to get back into it. only to find that the copy i kept of the html was this:

guys, i have AIDS. i got it from Dragon ball Evolution. Just like i had predicted, who ever had the movie made, only bought the names of the show, and the characters, but not the rights to any story. so they made one up. at least i'm pretty sure that happened.
[spoiler]roshi didnt live on an island, but was still perverted (barely, it was a pg movie), yamcha did capture them in a hole, but knew no kung fu. goku, didnt kill his grandfather, and didnt have a tail, but still changed into a monkey, which was not 50ft tall btw and not during a full moon.

I was inspired by this Comic Tools post from a whiles back, and I'm forcing to pencil a lot lighter. Usually I'm really heavy-handed, and tend to draw very loosely and then refine, refine, refine- which is okay, but then there's a lot of clean-up, or marks that never really get erased.
So I'm trying to draw very lightly, and more deliberately/ slowly. It's going really well- I can already tell it's going to save me an hour or two per page. But the down side is that making quick lines and bearing down on the page helps control my shaking, and so every other line I make looks like someone's grandmother drew it. I didn't realise it'd gotten this bad… scary. The pain's been worse than usual lately, too- I can probably only draw for 20 minutes tops before I have to take a break. But at least I could draw today; haven't been able to for the past couple or so. Grr.
My lines used to be super death dark before i got my tablet, now they're very light and controlled. I really prefer my pencil drawings to my tablet ones-much way more expressive and genuine. Sadly my scanner is a piece of HP garbage and not having a transform tool is a slow torture for me.
My mom's trying to set me up with our friends next door neighbors son t-t He's like 6'6 and is graduating from nau with a degree in microbiology and apparently she asked him if he'd like to meet me =__= I'm embarrassed as hell jesus christ mom.
I was having trouble with the outfits/look of the Gods in my comic.
I sat back for a while, and took a long think about it.
I actually came up with a REALLY good idea, and it involves an explanation too. It'll be amazing.
I just gotta sketch out a buuuunch of characters. Because I think I'm having the Gods wear the same thing, while the others (which I'm not mentioning) will wear something else, but similar.
So, I didn't go to bed last night, which means I've been up since 10 am Friday after waking up at 8 on Thursday and then going to bed a 5 am on Friday. That means that since 8 am Thursday morning I've had a grand total of 5 hours of sleep. I thought I was more or less ok since I've done this before no problem. That was until I got distracted and walked into not one, but two lamp posts right in a row. And what was I so distracted with that I did this? I was watching my feet trying to figure out how it looks because I wanted to know why video games never show your feet.

But fer reals: Sleep deprivation really does make you insane- I think it's something like 3 days without sleep, and you qualify psychotic- you start having hallucinations and waking dreams, lose your ability for rational thought. There's a reason they use it as a torture device…
Painter 11 is out, wonder if it's any better than X. Looks friendlier i guess. I have to wait til' my birthday to get my intuos 4, it seems so far away i wish my parents would give in sooner T.T We have to order it online since the stores around here don't sell wacom i guess.
Also the air has some fucking awful wood burn smell to it, it smelled good at first but now it's irritating my nose grahh.
Crud. I'm just going to have to try decompressing by taking short 2-3 hour naps. I can't seem to stay asleep any longer than that. I've gone into that weirdo "combat mode" kind of thing I seem to do where I'm hyper-alert and really twitchy when I don't sleep for long enough.
I kinda figured out the leg thing a while ago though. That would be really hard to render well. That's the product of a not-so-lucid mind though. I mean, I was giggling over imagining myself with a duck on my head and a monocle in my eye.

Ugh. I woke up at like, 9. So about a half hour ago, and my mom's like, "You got candy!" and I'm like, "Mom. It's 9 in the morning…*starts to fall back asleep for a second*" and she's like, "I don't care. It's Easter."
So I ate a thing of Skittles.
They were good.
Actually woke me up too.
Now to spend all day with family/draw :3

so i got a little letter in the mail saturday saying that they need extra information to process my title for my car. well they're closed saturday/sunday, and i'm leaving for a fun week/2week/3week however long trip. yay fun!! so anyways i'm pry going toget introuble fornot having my car registered and plated on time.
It's simultaneously way cool and a little bit messed up.As much as it's fun, staying up late until 3:30 in the morning three times in a row making scratch sprites sure takes alot of you.Dude, ya ain't got nothin' on Mr. lba in the way of the not sleepin'. He's like, still insane. Look at the Octocamel, fer cryin' out loud! ;)
And I'm still not done all the sheets yet >_>.
Iba, that octocamel is awesome. Now if I can just figure out how to make it do tentacle rape…
I did re-write #9 on the book I'm in the middle of working on now and re-write 3-4 on the rest of the comic. I tossed out two scenes and cut one character. Maybe about a dozen more pages of material gone. But I added little bits with the other characters to add to the existing storyline and tossed the "What the fuck does this have to do with anything?" parts.
I also dug up the Go a Viking! spoof I wrote to get myself out of a case of writer's block. It Almost had me believing I didn't write it. It was funny.
Also reminded me how much I miss writing comedy. Instead I'm as Lawrence Block put it in Telling Lies for Fun and Profit "washing garbage". I feel re-write number 10 coming on…
But I'm out of photos! lol!
