I'm 1/4 Greek, 3/4 as mixed American as they come (both sides of my family, except the Greek bit, have been in the U.S. since the 1600s through almost all lines)

My heritage has: Russian, German, Dutch, and American roots. My family's personal cookbook seems to be full of that evidence, as seeing it has tons of dutch, Russian and German recipes. even a way to make your own homemade root beer. And all of the recipes always say whenever this recipe or that recipe was created by "Great-aunt Hilda" or "Great-Great-grandfather Jimmy".

It seems that my family seem to preserve their family history and roots though cooking and photos, rather than though journals or whatever else.

I'm a mut.

I'm not sure of the exact percentages but I'm mostly English and Irish, then theres German, Italian, Dutch, Native American, and French Canadian thrown in. ^_^

We actually just had a family reunion on Saturday where they tracked our roots, weirdtiming. xD;

I'm American at the moment, but only in fairly recent generations… In very recent history, some of my relatives were Canadian.

My heritage is mostly Italian, Scottish, English, and German.

Pure Italian is just three generations before me. A woman (my great great grandma) dragged her daughters to Ellis Island to track down her rumored-to-be-cheating husband who came here seeking work.

I'm mostly Italian, then comes German, Irish, and French. The Italian you can tell from looking at me, although some people have said I look hispanic. My last name is German. The only information about my Irish and French heritage is what I here from my parents.

Australian. :P

Generations back though, my family came from Europe of course… in the 19thC mostly, some probably in the 18thC. But I think most of them came over from Ireland to escape the famine in the 19thC. My dad's side is pretty solidly "Irish" (ie. originally lol!), mum's side is partly from there and partly from England, but there's even some Belgian royalty in there somewhere.

1/16 German
3/16 Welsh
1/4 Swedish
1/2 …Irish, probably a bunch of other really, really white stuff, too, though.

We have a genealogy book for my dad's side, but my mom was adopted, so I'm half very specific European and half vague European/mostly Irish. At least something accounts for how pale I am.

Meh, we've been American for, like, 300 years anyway.
I also like how our last name comes from that little bit of German we've still got.

You guys have some fascinating backgrounds.

Both of my parents were Haitian immigrants, so that would make me just about 100% Haitian, though my father's side of the family seemed to be much lighter in complexion than my mother's. Both of them aren't alive, but I always wondered where my father's folks were from- I always hoped they were Dominican or something way back.
