I don't go anywhere near the nudity area, that's just a topic I like to stay away from. But I will show a guy hanging twenty feet in the air by clothespins while slowly getting his toenails ripped off by a short fat white man with tinsel.

What's the rules with comics?
just go for the strongest rating it actually may help your page views to have a more adult rating. When we first came here they actually considered banning us because we were so extreme I like to think we have pushed the envelope back on censorship here. We are the 3rd most popular strip and 9th most popular comic on drunk duck currently so I can definitely say you can be rude Lewd and crude and successful.
I don't remember wanting to ban your comic here. I remember that you had stuff posted that was too adult for 'M' and asked you to change your content or your rating. The only reason we'd consider banning a comic is if it had child pornogrophy or something in it.
Glad to see you've got back into the top 10 though.

In our early days we were nearly banned on a couple of occasions and told so by mods. I don't think you were a mod then but maybe you were. You yourself have told me the only way we would be on the front page was if we were in the top ten. For a comic to be around as long as us and to be as popular as us & to have never been featured because of our content could also be considered censorship. Also at least 3 times when the stat tracker showed us in the top ten over all it would mysteriously change a couple of hours later to put us outside the top ten. Once we went from 9th all the was back to 12th after a couple of hours and our numbers the day we dropped had been huge. Just earlier today we were 8th over all for a couple of hours and then readjusted to 9th. Now I think our numbers are to good to be excluded but we have suspected foul play in the past. Could have been a coincidence or a glitch but I must say it seemed odd.

2. Skool definitely WAS an admin then,
3. LOTS of very popular and long standing comics never get featured. There are way too many reasons to count.
4. There's no possibility of "foul play". None of us can mess with the stats, even for a programmer on the site that would be a very bothersome and annoying thing to do and probably end up screwing the rankings for everyone else too.
The stats and rankings are complicated. The stats you see on your control panel are just page views, they only count how many times your comic template has been reloaded. Rankings are determined by unique viewers who are only counted once per day, those do not show up in stats. Your rank is determined by your own unique audience, and also by the uniques of the comics above and bellow you, so there is a LOT of shifting about and it's all invisible to the normal user.
I can access the graphs in the system, but even then it's complicated.
I'm sorry but the I'M ENTITLED TO A FEATURE bullshit drives me up the goddamn wall.
I've explained all this to you before when you were bothering us about why you weren't getting your entitled feature, so I'm not going to be nice now. Also I'm furious that A: you seem to still have this entitlement thing going on, with the new addition of a persecution thing, and B: you're 'not really' accusing us of foul play.
Featuring doesn't work like that. It isn't about having been around a long time, having updated regularly, having been popular etc so where is my feature I ticked all the boxes if you're not featuring me it's because you hate me and you don't want my comic on your site. That minimum requirements list acts as a disqualifier, not as qualifiers. For example: Comic is awesome but only has 5 pages? Sorry, not enough. Got to be closer to 20 so we know you are serious about doing it.
If your comic hasn't been featured because of your 'content', it's not because it's rated M. We've featured lots of M comics (probably a disproportionately large amount), and would feature A if we could. It's because none of the admins thought your 'content' was very good. We didn't think a bunch of immature jokes for manboys was funny. If we were manboys we might have. We freely admit that featuring is subjective in that regard. Your comic being in the top ten just proves that you don't need the validation of an amateur webcomics hosting site admin to become liked and popular.
No one is fucking with your numbers. If you are number 8 and a little while later you are number 9, it's because some other comic did better than yours in the time interval. Hits are calculated dynamically, are recalculated several times a day, and your comic doesn't accumulate hits in a vacuum.
If you really think that something funny is going on with your numbers, then collect some evidence and we will give you the email of some people at Platinum who can investigate for you. Don't waltz onto the forums and start hinting there's some sort of conspiracy against you.
Here is good advice:
If your comic has explicit sexual material like Morning Squirtz's two most recent comics, rate it A, not M.
From the ratings page (though you do have to highlight to read it): http://www.drunkduck.com/ratings.php?
M
Content contains mature themes that might not be suitable for children. May contain occasional obscenities, limited graphic violence, implied sex, mild nudity. No sexually explicit material, no graphic sexual acts, no Hentai, no unrelenting violence, or non-stop obscenities.
A
Content is sexually explicit, exceedingly violent, or an excess use of obscenities.
Good job drawing attention to yourself there slimredninja :] Enjoy your new rating
Ozone I have a tremendous amount of respect for you and I said it appeared suspicious and not just to me. Today with my own eyes I saw it go from an overall ranking of 9 yesterday to 8 and then drop back to 9 an hour later. I thought and with good reason since I have been here a long time and checked it often that the rankings only updated once a day.If it updates multiple times a day as you said then that would explain it. Skool monkee the last time you sent me a quack you were rather rude and nasty not professional at all and you told me how little you like my comic so I know you don't like me but unnecessarily changing my rating because you don't like my post in a forum proves my point. How many other people have you punished for speaking up about something? I would call what you just did my point exactly. Let this be a lesson for anyone else brave enough to voice an opinion. I definitely think the front page features should be more what the readers & fans want then just what a few mods decide they like but thats just my opinion I hope that doesn't earn me any further disciplinary action from you Skool.

And changing his rating 1 rank*?! That's disgusting - Unforgivable.
The joke is that that's blatant sarcasm.
Man I love this thread. I think I'm gonna print it off and frame it.
*The admins cannot change your ranks.
I definitely think the front page features should be more what the readers & fans want then just what a few mods decide they like but thats just my opinion I hope that doesn't earn me any further disciplinary action from you Skool.Actually, isn't the point of a feature system to give comics that deserve more hits the attention they deserve? If everyone is already reading your comic, they have no real reason to feature it.
Also, life tip, demanding favors from people very rarely works. Brown-nosing is the way to go.

Skoolmunkee is awesome and probably the nicest person on DrunkDuck. She is having a tremendous amount of patience with you, it seems. You, on the other hand, are being a total douchebag.
Some things you should know:
-If your comic isn't as highly ranked as you would like, advertise more or make your comic better. There isn't any conspiracy to change your ranking.
-Even if your comic were great, an A-rated comic cannot be featured, as DrunkDuck is more or less an all-ages site.
-If your comic is rated M and has sexually explicit content, a mod who notices has every right to change it to an A rating, because that's what it should be.
-A comic is featured because it is good quality and it doesn't already have a large following. A feature is to draw attention to a good comic. Featuring a popular comic would be useless.
I guess my experiences with Skool have been vastly different then yours. Believe me I wouldn't say anything against her without cause she has been nasty with us long before this.I love Drunk duck and the community and most of the mods but as Skool's over the top reaction shows we & she don't see eye to eye.
Skool monkee the last time you sent me a quack you were rather rude and nasty not professional at all
The last time I sent you a quack it was because you were trying to argue with me about why you should get a feature and I had to be blunt and honestly tell you why you weren't going to get one. Being blunt is not the same thing as being rude or unprofessional, although it's possible I was being rude to you it would have been because I was tired of arguing with a wall. Telling you flat out why we didn't want to feature your comic was the only thing I could do, because telling you more polite things wasn't working. We had tried to be nice to you about it before and you took that as some kind of promise that we would definitely feature you at some point. You kept coming back with "but"s. Your argument was that we owed you something for having a popular comic and we DON'T.
I didn't change your age rating because I don't like you, I changed your age rating because I clicked on your comic and your most recent two pages featured graphic sex acts, which are listed specifically as being an A rating on the ratings guideline page. Although your posts here DID inspire me to check your comic, you EARNED your A rating YOURSELF by posting those comics. I've just enforced it (rudely), which is my job (not the rude part). I do the same thing (not rudely) for other comics which come to my attention in some way and whose ratings I feel are inappropriate. (I even checked ny japlander's comic because he mentioned his aren't always "E", though I didn't find anything iffy in random clicking.)
I would like to see anyone argue that a comic about Superman fucking Lois Lane and showing the act of sex, actual penis inserted into vagina (let alone the joke that LOL her head smashed into the wall and she died) is NOT an "A" comic. I'm waiting.
Anyway you seem to pride yourself on being edgy and pushing rating boundaries, so you might as well take the freedom that an A rating offers and run with it.
The readers and fans HAVE their method to get comics to the front page. And the admins have theirs. Hopefully between the two a number of worthy comics get attention. Sometimes the two DO cross over and we feature a popular comic (but not a top 10 one). Being able to feature comics is just about the only positive aspect of this job, and having to argue with people who feel entitled about it or persecuted against because of it makes it rather hateful. I was annoyed to have to do it back in the past with you and I'm annoyed that you still have a chip on your shoulder about it. Let alone have worked it into this pageview-tampering conspiracy thing.
Edit: Hippe Van, thanks. :] I do want to say though that I don't particularly feel I need defending here, I'm quite happy to admit I'm being rude to slimredninja in this thread. He can feel persecuted by me all he likes, but I'm secure in my reasonings for featuring comics and for changing appropriate ratings.
Let's all have a look at this PQ where I was rude, nasty, and unprofessional:
hey Skoolmunkee I know you have to be somewhat familiar with our comic morning squirtz we have been around for 2 years and have posted 150 of our twisted toons here on the duck. We have never been featured and would love to reach some new readers. We are very active and have posted 6 new squirtz in the last ten days alone. A lot of people don't know about us and we would benifit greatly from being featured. I feel we have more then payed our dues I know originally there was a question about us being to graphic and that was the reason we were told we weren't getting featured but I have seen many more adult oriented comics then us be featured since you took over including Roy Barley to just name one. We bring a lot of viewers here from other places like our 11,000 myspace friends but we would like for more drunk duckers to learn about us. We are a great community comic with tons of guest comics dome by Corey Dye from Raw fish Kelly Furgenson from Basket Case Dawn Griffin from Zorphbert & Fred plus main stream comic pros like William Messner Loebs just to name a few. If you aren't familiar with us please take a second to look us over and you will see we have great art and great humor.
Hiya,
slimredninja, I'm afraid it isn't a case of "paying dues"- we don't feature comics as a reward for being on the site for a long time, or being an active community member, or arguing the benefits of your comic with us, or anything like that. We feature a comic because, essentially, we think it is above-average and exceptional in some way, because we like it and enjoy reading it, because we think others would like it, and because we want to 'show it off' to the site's visitors.
I and the other admins are well aware of your comic, and have all at some point checked it out for featuring (which means reading every page)- you have asked us to consider your comic before. We know that you (and many other people with their own comics) are very eager to be featured but the truth of the matter is that there are some (all?) subjective elements to being featured, not everyone CAN be featured, and some comics rise to the top while others just stay in the middle ground. Every comic has a chance to nab a main page spot without admin intervention- you should know this as your own comic has been in the top 10 in the past, which gets your comic on the front page.
There were a few comics that were more explicit than we were comfortable with, but telling someone a reason why their comic wasn't featured isn't the same as promising to feature it if those reasons are addressed. The truth is that none of us really liked your comic or felt it was exceptional. I realize your comic has many fans, and while I can't speak for the other admins I can tell you that I personally found the humor to be very juvenile and done in a heavy-handed way. I just didn't find it funny because it just wasn't my thing. As a humor comic, I couldn't in good conscience feature it. I don't end up featuring comics that I just don't enjoy reading. Yes, that is subjective, but that is absolutely a part of the featuring process. There isn't really a way to feature comics that is completely objective- if there is, it would be related to pageviews or something, which is what the Top 10 is for. :)
So, although I completely respect your desire to be featured, and recognize the effort you put into your comic, its promotion, and being a community member- it's been my decision not to feature it. I know that is not an easy thing to hear. However, you've made it into the top before, so it's absolutely possible you can do it again without my help. :)
Edit: Oz- this is on page 7 of 9 of the "admin list" thread in the admin forum, if anyone wants backing up
Let me respond by saying that quack was in direct response to you asking people on the front page news to send you info about their comics so they could possibly be featured. When I did you sent that quack. Don't ask for something and then bitch when someone sends it to you. Although I'm sure no one else received a similar response. Since I supposedly bugged you so many times about being featured show me the other quacks. You can't because other then maybe one other time when we started I never asked. If you had not asked for people to send you the info I wouldn't have sent it. As for changing the rating you said why you did it directly above as punishment for daring to speak my mind. You may have some people fooled but I know you as mean nasty and highly unprofessional. I hope I don't get banned for being honest.
Would you have been happier if I just ignored you completely? I saw that you had put a lot of effort into your 'pitch' and I felt that deserved an honest reply, especially since we had the same sort of conversations in the past. Funny how your statements that I was rude, nasty, and unprofessional have now devolved to "yeah well"s
I'm not going to ban you for being honest, I have never done anything even remotely like that in my role here. I'm not sure what I've done to deserve that assumption about me.
Changing the rating wasn't 'punishment'. I admit that bringing yourself to my attention made me check out your comic again, but if you're trying to argue that you don't deserve an A rating then you're going to lose that one. The rude tone to my reply was, I admit, a bit of satisfaction. But I wouldn't abuse the ability to change rating just like I wouldn't abuse the ability to freeze or ban accounts. I can be a dick about getting to do something, but I wouldn't do that something unjustly to give myself an excuse.
Again whatever justification makes you feel better about it is ok with me. Bottom line don't ask people to send you something and when they do send them responses like this.
"The truth is that none of us really liked your comic or felt it was exceptional."
The truth is I have been told by at least one mod here that he not only liked the comic but had discussed having it featured. So your speaking for everyone is B.S. I will wear my A rating proudly as a constant reminder of the roadblocks you enjoy throwing in the way of our success. Are you still looking for all those other times I supposedly bugged you about being featured? I'm sure your not lying about that and that you'll find them somewhere and post them soon.
I will wear my A rating proudly as a constant reminder of the roadblocks you enjoy throwing in the way of our success.I read your comic earlier.
It had Tom Cat sucking a dog's balls. The caption was that bi-curiosity killed the cat. I'm not sure if I missed anything there that was funny, because I was too busy saying "OH GOOD GOD GAY BEASTIALITY".
What, you think that's hilarious? You want to print it off and show it to young children, saying "IT'S HILARIOUS, DON'T CENSOR US!"?
You've got some growing up to do, pal.

We were rated mature not E "pal" only a third of our comics feature sex at all and only about a third of those are particularly explicit. Glad you are such a huge fan of censorship I'm not. Our comic had a appropriate rating that it has maintained for 4 years Skool Monkee and the other mods have always been familiar with our comic this is not our first trip to the top ten and we tend to stay in the top 20. Yet when did our rating change? Why surprise surprise when Skool didn't like what I had to say in this forum.

You're saying that should be viewable for everyone? Because if so you have some serious problems, and I sincerely hope you never have children.
Although as that requires a human female mate, I don't think that's an issue.

Wow it shows a cat licking the balls of a dog (which by the way don't wear clothes) holy cow thats super X rated. Again let me point this out to you since you don't seem to get it we were rated M as in mature as in not for little kids. I assure you a 16 year olds seen much worse. As for your personal attacks, I have a son and I have a hot girlfriend. When my son was little I wouldn't have let him view mature content any more then I would have let him look at Adult content. I wont say anything mean about you since I don't know you. My calling Skool mean and nasty is only as it applies to me I'm sure there are lots of people she is very nice to but towards me mean and nasty are appropriate.
Again whatever justification makes you feel better about it is ok with me. Bottom line don't ask people to send you something and when they do send them responses like this.Don't try to give someone the hard sell and get upset when they give you the hard shutdown. I'll make a note though, in the future you prefer not to get responses.
The truth is I have been told by at least one mod here that he not only liked the comic but had discussed having it featured. So your speaking for everyone is B.S.Well, Ozone did tell you that you were acting like a "hysterical nuisance" at one point.
You keep saying "mods" this and that, but mods are different roles than admins. If you mean an admin then say admins. Sure a mod might have told you that, but mods don't do features. Admins do.
There were admin discussions about whether to feature you, and we all agreed there were valid reasons not to. If they liked it solidly enough to feature it they wouldn't have needed anyone's permission, the features are an individual and not a group thing. If you're talking about SpANG, he listed you a couple of specific comics which were over the top (including bi-curious george) and cited some examples of what he felt was tracing of images. considering that bi-curious george still seems to be in your archives, I don't know why you thought that something which was too explicit for featuring then wouldn't still be too explicit for featuring now.
Are you still looking for all those other times I supposedly bugged you about being featured? I'm sure your not lying about that and that you'll find them somewhere and post them soon.Wait, wait. So, first you challenge me to find them, and then you want to turn my finding them into a negative thing? Damned if I do and damned if I don't, huh? Nice try.
I'm guessing you got away with your M rating for so long because none of the admins actually follow your comic so weren't aware of the things you were posting. When I did have a reason to check, I found the rating inappropriate. Consider that a punishment if you want, but it's something you brought on yourself.
The truth is we admins have multiple threads about you. I don't think you would want them to be posted, and I have to respect the other admins' privacy regarding things they've said in a private forum, so they certainly won't be posted. We automatically keep any correspondence we have with you because you have been so much trouble in the past. You're right up there with LeFarce, Tater Salad, and that bunch. Most of it seems to have been in 07, be flattered you left such an impact.
You're the one who sent masses of unsolicited PQs to people and prompted Volte to code the "send too many PQs in a short period, get PQs frozen" function.
You're the one who exploited the update bug so much (and admitted that you shouldn't have been doing it, though you tried to stand on "no one told me not to") that Volte had to code something which detects when someone is doing that and falsely sets their update date back and removes them from the 'newly updated' list.
You're the one who started your career on DD leaving constant empty "great comic 5" comments on comics and drew many complaints to us about you being a spammer.
I think I have pretty good reason to not have warm fuzzy feelings about you, but I'm happy to stay out of your way if you stay out of mine. Dredging up the "we haven't been featured because of bawwwwwwww" and now the "there's a conspiracy against us" is pretty much a challenge and I responded. I'm not going to let you accuse me or Oz of things like that, like it's this factual thing and your side is the only side.
Anyway it's 3am and I've spent too much time on this already. There's no point continuing because your opinion of things isn't going to change, and neither is mine. We've provided the forums with some entertaining drama at least. :]

If I were to post a porno pic on my comic right now, it would be porn. It doesn't matter if nothing else even had anything to do with sex, if one of the pictures is porn then it contains porn and should be labeled as such.
