Who Is The Meanest Person You've Ever Seen On The Forums?

Posted at

Wow, what an…interesting…thread.

I don't like to call anyone mean because everyone, at some point in time, acts in a way I would probably consider mean, including myself. I think people will be more likely to speak their mind on the internet, because in a way they are shielded (falsely) by this barrier between them and the person they are speaking (typing?) to.

Either way, I know I always try my hardest to be as polite as I can, and sometimes I fail, but never intentionally. I think Ozoneocean said it best a couple posts below me.

Also, in a side note, I'm glad I haven't been on here long enough to be on a mean list. :)

Right?

I would be just as mean if not more if I posted outside of TD.

But then I would get banned. I'm actually not really mean in real life or outside DD. It's just that I hate you all so very much.

I don't have a problem with anyone on this forum. Everyone's nice to me. (And now that statement will backfire onto my face.)

Although, someone on another forum a few years back told me that my artwork sucks and I should go die. Or something like that. That was a pretty mean thing to say.

I actually don't give a rat's ass about many things people say about me. Especially in forums. It just doesn't bother me.

…Which is another statement which could backfire.

I really haven't seen any outright meanness on the forums. I love you all too much to notice if you are mean.

That wasn't on the forums but I thought I should point it out.

There's an edit button and a delete button for a reason, you know.

The most of the TD, really. To me, the top meanie would be lefarce. But that's what makes him so awesome.

And me, Internet or face-to-face, I can almost never make myself to be mean to someone. It's not my nature. =O

Yeah, like I said; being mean is easy, a weakness, a failing.

And it leads to trouble. Which is one of the best reasons to avoid acting like that.

It's true, most of the "mean" people mentioned have gotten into all sorts of problems because of their dumb behaviour. And I myself ALWAYS have a lot more trouble with people here when I come of as mean when trying to sort out problems.

If you still want to be mean, but not in a stupid way, the trick is to be a bit cleverer about it, in a way that's not obvious. I've done that too, I'm not proud, but it's more satisfying and doesn't lead to as much trouble. ;)

You never come across as mean Sub. :)

I dunno. I actually don't like being mean, when I think I have been. It's so very, very, simple to be an arsehole. I find you feel like an even bigger arsehole though when the person you've just been mean to (for whatever reason) is perfectly civil back to you. It's like you've exposed yourself as a bit of a moron.

-A feeling akin to Wylee Coyote running right off of the edge of a cliff and then looking down to see that he's actually running in thin air. lol!

It's much, much more difficult to stay civil and reasonably nice. That takes real force of will, strength of character, and force of personality.

Basically: meanness = weakness.

If I've come across as mean, that means I'm weak.

Anybody who has kids (or is an officer or nco in the service) knows that that's a crock of horse shit. (or at least not always true.) There isn't much that is harder than having to be mean and say no to your kids for their own good when you'd rather be laughing at how funny they're being or wanting to join in on their mischief.

Unfortunately, you have to put on a poker face and turn into your dad/mom and spoil their fun. only afterwards, when they are out of sight and earshot, can you break down and have a good laugh or at least a chuckle at what they were trying to get away with or the excuse they gave you when caught.

But isn't disciplining your children a bit different than hauling off and flinging insults at someone over an internet forum?

Exactly. Randal's example would be like me saying killing is wrong when talking about a school shooting and him saying "but it's ok in war!"

In this case the context was implicit in the discussion… I didn't think I had to say "in the Drunk Duck forums" :P

OMG, am I being mean now? :)

The meanest? I can't really say. I find most people are quite entertaining when they're pissed off or just being cruel for the hell of it, so my judgement is really not something to relay on.

I'd like to say Mr. Myxterlyiughhosnjrtthtfg, but he's not really mean. Just a complete dick.

I know I'm an ass most of the time but usually thats on certain occasion when someone is being an ass to me for no apparent reason. Or just to tease.
Nope, sorry. You can't appoint yourself as a mean person. That's lame.

You're like a grape at a gooseberry convention. If you know you can't contribute, then don't participate.

Oh, and grammar please.

Hmm, Custard, you're a good guy, Please don't try for this "meanest" trophy thing, it's not clever.

This topic had promise, but if it's going to turn into a "pick me I'm mean" contest, I think we're going to have some bad results.

Locked.
