We chose DrunkDuck to host our comic, because out of the free comic sites, it seemed to be the best with a good interface, ease and expanse of customization, a good front page that shows top comics and also encourages people to check out some lesser known comics, and especially a great community of people. I'm really pleased with the site so far.

Why Did You Choose Drunk Duck to Host Your Comic?
I would definitely say touche, but neither requires its name in your URL – for SJ it's http://yourcomic.thewebcomic.com and at KS it's http://yourcomic.comicgenesis.com.Well, don't count that out yet. I'm pretty sure that's on Volte's list of things to do. ;)
That's why I was hoping DD offered a redirect too.
Stick with us. We're better. We've offered people things here that other comic hosters can only dream of, and it's only gonna get better. :)
The brothers of Alpha Shade recommended drunkduck to me at Anime Detour.
This place… just seems to have more involved people and easy site to work with.
SJ seems like a manga/anime comic hosting site (top fave comics were about 90% manga/anime. I looked I swear.)Only the top comics get comments on every update.
KS My computer didn't seem to like it. Always freezing and stuff whenever I went there… Sure many of the top dogs started there, but nowa days with so many comics out there… the social aspect of Drunkduck is more enjoyable. (an artist is not an island?)
HyperComics main form of comic update communication is a shoutbox.:P
I chose DrunkDuck because I was looking for a free comic host and Smackjeeves wasn't working for me and jelly comics was crap. Even though DrunkDuck was down at the time I came back 2 weeks later and it worked! If I had to start again I'd still use DrunkDuck because I like the people and all the good comics.
i choose DrunkDuck because out of all the other webcomic sites, (comic genisis, webcomic nation, etc.) drunk duck was the easiest to use. everything else was way to complicated. here, i just have to upload a jpeg. and i'm done! (^^) plus yeah the community, i love all the comments and such. so yeah if i started over i would go with DD.
The main reason I got on DD was its inclusiveness. Like other people have said, ANYONE can host a comic here, regardless of experience or quality.
Which, admittedly, is a double-edged sword, but still.
The loads of friendly people, great atmosphere, and constantly-updating feature list are just bonuses.
Well, before DD was the only comic hosting site I knew of. Then when it went down, I went all around, looking for a new site. I finally went over to Smackjeeves and reposted all my old comics there, ready to continue on. Unfortunately, none of them folks really cared for me. I gave up on webcomics and looked for an artist do draw for me. Then, DD came back up, i found bghq.com and got a scanner. My comics have improved heaps, because I was encouraged instead of flamed.
That's why. People give good advice here. They don't just say 'Man, you suck. Just quit while you're ahead'. (Yes, I did get that before)
As a long-time lurker, I can say DD's front page seems best for encouraging readers to explore new comics. To go along with that, maybe a DeviantArt-style random page browse option would be a nice addition to that someday.
I have one more question for the moderators that "theleast" has already asked here:

Thanks again to all the people who've commented, especially those who've had experience with other sites. You make DD hard to resist.
I signed up for Comicspace to start with, it being the only free comic hosting site I knew of. But I was disenchanted pretty quickly. They make running a comic site a lot of effort! I had to have a friend help me with what to do, and realise that half the time when I thought I was doing something wrong, it was just a problem at the site's end. Confusing and difficult. >_>
I googled "free webcomic hosting", and found DrunkDuck. I signed up on a "temporary" basis, until I could figure out CG a little more.
I never did bother doing that. ;)
I realised DrunkDuck had fantastic promotional prospects (the new and recently updated comic lists), and a toplist that was achievable (I got into it, too, when it was a top-25 list ^_^), and above all it's REALLY easy to use. I love it. The comment system is great, too. I've started getting e-mails occasionally now, but for a long time I didn't, and STILL had great feedback in the form of comments. It's really exciting when you wake up and got a whole bunch overnight.
I did a quick html tutorial, knocked a site together, and I'm really, really happy here. :)
I personally chose DrunkDuck.com because for a long time I was looking for a place to host a webcomic. I'm pretty good with everyday tasks on the computer such as checking e-mail and instant messaging, anything beyond that I'm pretty clueless. So making a website was more than a little out of the question.
One day a friend of mine called me up and told me she found this great site called Drunkduck.com. ( You can probably guess my facial expression) She (being more computer illiterate than me–which is saying something) had started a sprite comic that afternoon. After telling me how easy it was, and me checking out the site I decided to give it a shot. Works great for me. ( I also began to notice a lot of other webcomics I've read are hosted on Drunkduck.com–go figure)
So, I'm happy with it and if I had to do it all over again? I'd stick with the duck. It's proven itself to fit my needs just fine.
Thank you Drunkduck.com~!
i stayed cause you can get a lot of comments and network with people. I meet a lot of cool people here in dd that i would not have otherwise. The staff tries to keep a safe environement to post, unlike other sites(i.e. newgrounds) who are very elitist.
ditto.
and plus.. I tried to start out at keenspace, but they had such an complicated system and plus they were very elist and stuff… they actually deleted my account and stuff like that when I had barely started due to my comic not being good enough, and also on the fact that I didn't go for an paid account.
All you guys who love drunk duck, we love you too! :D
All you guys who hate drunk duck, we're um… impartial to you, but thanks for being here!
I'm here 'cos Ronson harrassed me back in the day. I totally wouldn't join until Volte let us change the colors of our comic page. That was a big thing back then! Once we could change the colors and graphics I was all on board. And now I'm an admin and going someplace else (if I even HAD a comic anymore…) would be all traitorous and junk…
