I use drunkduck, because it has a perfectably usable comic navigation system set up, customisable CSS and HTML, a comment system, forums, tons of hits a day because each comic is free for the site viewers to find easily, and the members are generally helpful, constructive with critique, and friendly. :)

Why Did You Choose Drunk Duck to Host Your Comic?
I have absolutely no idea. I was originally going to have BnG post it as a Fancomic but then I ame across one of the comics in here and loved it. I saw the link to the homepage at the top and then I discovered that it was a comic hosting site. So I signed up and here I am. This is also my record of 3 posts in the forums! YES!
I would've used comicgen, because 99% of the comics I read that don't self-host use comicgen. Then I found out about the 2 week wait, and that didn't sound good since I'd heard a lot about how long they have to wait and such.
And it was the only one not blocked by school. That was a big plus.
I dunno, I really like it- especially the control you get over your comic.
My journey has been long.
In 2005 I started with Keenspace (now ComicGenesis) doing a gag comic. The community was and still is active (there are nice people on there) but jeez! the site freezes so much. It takes forever to get a site and the system is often down D:. I stopped using it in 2006.
I then went to Smackjeeves, but the site is not that pretty and all the comics are the same, seriously. It's either sprite comics or manga there @_@. So I left.
Now I'm here, working on a completely different kind of "poetic" comic. The community looks nice and active here. :D
To be completely honest, I started on Smackjeeves. The interface wasn't as pretty as DD's, the people weren't as nice, and everywhere I turned were the same types of comics ( I won't go into detail).

*LOL* Where to begin? Hah!
I kept slackassing for years about my own comics (completely originals have never been made public as of yet - oi!), and wound up doing a fanfic webcomic for WoW then SRO called Smish! (I named it in honor of Woodie Hearn ala GUcomics.) It was something I rarely had time to update and the few times I'd really plug away at attempting to do so, dun-dun-dun, site was down, Keenspace/ComicGenesis style.
I was working full time, married, and was expecting/had a baby. Amongst all that, it led to small times to update and code and lord, if the uploader wasn't down, it was trying to remember which page had the proper tools to use, no wait, it's now this one…No, wait, they moved it here? Oh nm, that one is now defunct too…Ah flarg it!
I want to get my own proper comics up and running and I find I'm more apt to get into my own stuff when I'm putzing around with fanart/fanfics so I started up the splash page for my next comic. I spend all night reworking code, dumping my old chat box/shout box archives for a fresh start and dun-dun-dun, site was down, and they were expecting nothing until at least the 23rd. I have little time to work on it and it gets frustrating as Hell when its' down every-single-flarkin'-time you try to use it.
Leery of the answer, but knowing it all too well (seeing a queue of over 5,000 waiting to update…), there were two locked and a third-to-be-locked thread regarding CGers wanting answers. Free service or not, it does build them some income from ads, promo-items, etc. Never tell me "It's Free, so you have no room to bitch.", that's an easy cop-out. Quite a few replies mentioned they had originally been KS/CG members who had made mirror comics over at DD and wound up moving here for good. I figured what the hell, right? I signed up, got invited instantly instead of the long-haul wait from CG, and everything was easy as PIE (yum!) to sort out.
The templates were awesome compared to what you have to start with at CG and when I have more time, I fully plan to rip the code to shreds and make it all JAQ'd up, as it were, but it's user-friendly, doesn't make your eyeballs bleed (unless of course the artist WANTS them to), and the community, as I've seen thus far, is very mature in how it handles many things. My only bleh to the entire thing is I could do without the alcohol reference (long story), but if it's something I have to wave a white flag to in order to have fun about being someone who loves what they do? I'll drink it up as it were. ;)
There's actually a few people I plan to poke in the patoot to come over here, been a wonderful experience thus far and it's been less than a week!

I chose it because i am an extremely avid comics fan with loads of my own stories to tell, but no where to tell them. I had no idea comic hosting sights existed until a friend of mine at college said that i should put some of my stuff on here. As i only registered three days ago i am yet to do so, but it seems real easy.
Honestly: More exposure.
I've been doing my comic for 3ish years (multiple comics) and there was a flurry of activity on my site for the first 2-4 months, but after that, I'd get the occasional fan letter and comment, but no real criticisms or solid praise.
So… yeah… 'Something Like Life' is nearing 100pages in it's archives and I'm finally getting comments on it and whatnot (the whole reason I do this labor of love).
Of course it'll always be hosted on my own site, but I'm beginning to really enjoy the community here.
I liked the community, & I had to start this journey somewhere.
Terran Sandz is four issues & pretty much finished, so I figured I'd see what kind of response it got. Maybe I can eventually create enough interest to produce the sequel.
Broken Things is a labor of love. I'd be working on it whether it ever got picked up or not. I love the characters & the story.

I'm here because although I started a web comic on my own last month, I was pointed in this direction by Mister Beaver and Mister Steve. Two lovely chaps.
Having a site on my own is swell and all, but without a community, it's just a site on my own. I can hardly control the internet through the medium of comic without it.
So that's why I'm here.
We've all come from different backgrounds, we've all got our reasons to be here but we stay here because of *INSERT POIGNANT AND MEANINGFUL REMARK HERE* and in the end, isn't that what is most important?
I chose The Duck… well, because I was an idiot and FORGOT to come back after the Crash in '05. There was a long time where I wasn't updating. I took a full-year hiatus (which is how I missed noticing the crash at first…) and when I wanted to come back, all that was left was a forum. So, I put up my link in the "lost links" section and wandered off. On November 1, 2005, I came back with, what I thought, was a vengeance. It turns out that I really needed to rethink my story. I took 4 months to rewrite the entire first two acts of this epic story (motivation? Where? lol) and then set about the task of committing it to the web.
At this time, I still had my ancient Keenspa– er, Comic Genesis page, so I said: what the hell. I put it up at my homepage and mirrored on Comic Gen (after all: who cares what service you use if it's JUST a mirror, right? Boy was *I* wrong…). My "enemies" found me and hacked my website about 40 times (I may or may not be exaggerating), so I went Comic Gen full-time. Which was great… for about 2 months. Growing ever frustrated with the inability to update on time (thanks to wonky servers), I said to myself: "Self, get yer ass back on Drunk Duck." By this time, Marie Tary of Shifters Redux and Brymstone fame had harassed me long enough to get my Duck account back up.
The rest, is history.

Well, lets see. After my fanfics went down the tubes(kinda sorta), I thought I could revamp my idea into comic form. I was already visiting this site, mostly for CTV, and I figured, why not?
Still think that way, despite the fact that NO ONE IS HELPING ME AT ALL!!!
Seriously people. I'm on my hands and knees begging you! ARTIST! NEEDED! BADLY!
