Cause Rage Against The Machine got the Christmas number one with 'Killin' in the name of'!

….I wont do what you tell me….
now i like the british too! hell, i might even have a cup of tea.

Have a celebratory crumpet too. Go on, spoil yourself!

I don't watch X-factor but my flatmates do, and I caught sight of Jedward for about 5 minutes and was filled with such an intense loathing of all their played up twin-stereotypes I wanted to chuck a bag of sick at them. Gah.

I wonder if this kind of backlash is going to happen in other years as well? That would be fantastic.

Sadly, overfishing is to blame :(

All of you are British? …
I'm not British but I lived there for few years. I always found their taste of music to be funny.

For example. Please enjoy the top UK song from 2000.

Hey, Bob The Builder paid his dues - give the guy a break. I suppose you think it's alright for Bruce Springsteen to go around pretending to be a blue collar worker, but as soon as a real one tops the charts you turn into musical snobs.

Up the animated workers!

Oh no Ironscarf. I didn't turn into a musical snob when Bob the builder became the number one hit. I turned into one when this song topped your chart:

For the record, this song is not old. It's from 2002.

I suppose it's worse when the chavs are still chavs when they're adults.

One word:

Bjork.
I've always liked Bjork…
Even back when she was a mono-brow Sugarcube ^___^

———–
Britain does have a lot of dodgy chart hits. o_O
There's always Ernie the fastest Milkman float in the West by Benny Hill
Or Do the Funky Gibbon by the Goodies.

Still, it shows a highly individual streak to the country…
(if you can ever call several thousand people all buying the same record individual ^_^)

Precisely my point (I knew double bluff wouldn't catch you out!) - she was a monobrowed shrieking nut with perfect pitch and so we loved her to bits. We invited her over to stay and the albums she made here are still being ripped off by female singers who want to appear cutting edge.

This is getting on for twenty years old but still shows no signs of age. Best vid ever too!

Big Time Sensuality!
I remember that a friend's mum that I know commented "Oh, that poor girl! Still it's nice they've let her do a video."

Heh, I'v always liked that. one.
My other fave is Venus as a Boy. It was very "Amile" long before Amilie.

Bjork.
I for one hated Björk like the plaque in my youth. Never understood how songs like "It's Oh So Quiet" (which by the way, peaked at 4 place in UK) could ever be popular. It's only recently that I've come to accept that some of her songs are good.

And since this thread seems to be creeping towards becoming a Björk tribute, I figured, why not show you guys something that you've never seen before.

Björk at the tender age of 17, singing with her garage band…

…and when she was 10.

Well she certainly improved with age. =_=
The music in the first clip was decent though.

Something occurs to me looking at older pics of her… People always used to say that she didn't look very "Icelandic", and thought she must have some of the native people's blood in her…
The more I look at her though the more Russian she looks. I think it's the people from the Northern Caucus? Anyway, Russians like Leonid Brezhnev. the resemblance is amazing!

This is what she'll look like at 80:

and this is what she'll look like at 85 with her top off:

smexy ^^
