It took me a while to put a script together, but I'm to the coloring step for page one of two. :)

The writing exercise is really fun. It's much the same process as normal script writing. Character in a scenario -> reaction. Someone else's scenario makes it more interesting.(It makes me want to insert my characters in everyone's stories. I have a feeling they'd get killed off at least half the time.)

Yeah it's a really interesting challenge.

I scripted out everything too and I was making good headway. And then I realised I had no idea how to draw panel 1, page 2. xO I'm kinda tempted to work around it and come back to it later…

I have only half done, but it's going to be a while before I can get onto the second page. (Fitting in time between working on UB updates.) I figured I'd post what I have and keep this thread moving.

Irrevenant provided this scene from Tales of the Unpredictable Chaos:

I inserted Seiko from Used Books, a fair protagonist with pretty much zero physical prowess. – It took me an embarrassingly long time to come up with how she could/would react to the situation. In her native comic, "bad guys" rarely see her as enough of a threat to initiate this type of confrontation.

I'll get the next page done when I can.

Well done UB!
I'm still working on my Steel an Manitou pages… I have one done but no text yet, the second one isn't yet coloured :(

Very nice Usedbooks, I like your style in this scene! And ahh I'm kind of
Glad this is going slow for everyone as that takes a bit of the pressure off. I'm still colouring my first page but been a little busy lately!'

I love it, UB! Really interesting direction to take the story, too.

I'm not sure where you're up to on the second page but at this point do you mind holding off a couple of days on posting it? That way the page can go live in the comic itself first. xD

It doesn't matter that much though so if you're too eager to wait, go for it. (EDIT: Aaaand I just noticed you said you'd be a while, anyway. >_<).

I rather embarrassingly didn't think of posting the first page while I worked on the second. >_>)

I'll finish colouring my first page and post it shortly…

EDIT: I'll get this first page done (EDIT: Nope, it's delayed now too -_-), but I'll probably be a fair while with the second because my comic is chewing through its buffer at a frightening pace and I need to deal with that. >_>

I was going to hold off on the whole thing for your scene to finish. It veers off in its own direction after the set-up anyway. (I'm working on a UB page and my workweek starts today, so it'll be a few days regardless.)

Epic work, Ozone! Pinky seems to have handled it fairly similarly to the original protagonist. Only with more cursing. :D

I still haven't forgotten about this but I started updating my own comic again and I'm stretched a little thin. Let me just nudge out the buffer a little (and finish the page I promised Heroes Alliance and the one for the Comic Jam) and I'll get back to this! Sorry.

P.S. You draw great noses, Ozone. I'm totally hating on noses right now.

EDIT: Seems like emoticons which use pointy brackets make sections of text disappear…

Agreed. Great work. :)

I also had to pause my contribution. Summer is hectic for my job, and I have a lot of late nights and early mornings. This is on my to-do list. I hate to put up another filler in my comic so close to a chapter conclusion.

Yeah, I didn't want to change the action, because that was pretty cool and baddass in the original and I know Pinky would do the same thing to get free… but her attitude is very different. At the end she's ready to KILL with that arrowhead, no matter how much it slices her up.
So, more than anything, I transformed the original character INTO Pinky, rather than just inserting Pinky into the scene.

Okay, so my long weekend didn't go as smoothly as planned (re: alchohol), so I was only able to get one page done, but here it is! I will do the next page tomorrow.

Kassidy is more whiney than Pinky, so I think she would act sort of like a baby in this scene. The next page is a bit more of her personality though!

Would everyone be okay if I set up a comic to showcase and archive the finished scenes? I think these are too good not to be presented outside of a rambling forum thread.

Would link to all creators and post originals as well as swaps. (So, I guess for the originals, it would be like promotional comic teasers.)

I think that is a good idea Used Books! Another DD community project, and I think if it got some exposure, other people will want to try and swap scenes too!

Now I really want to finish the next page! I am camping this weekend though so it will have to be Monday Ashley's project.

Finished. :)

Here’s the original scene from Tales of the Unpredictable Chaos:

I swapped in Seiko from Used Books, who is not a badass and cannot fight. I guess I approached it differently, but it’s the only thing I could come up with. I put Seiko in the scenario and let her be herself. (I don’t know if it would go well for her after this point, but she doesn’t fare much better in UB.)

I set this up to showcase full-size pages (and maybe encourage participation in future swapping): Character Swap

Brillaint UB!
I love the comic idea as well. There won't be many in there but that's BOSS! :D

@Pit, sure you can. We'll have to pair you with someone. Or you could just pick who of us in this thread you'd want to pair with.

I wouldn't mind a swap, if it's a just a one page scene ^_^
