I used the Kablam template, but since I'm drawing right over it on the computer, the TIFF files are over 20 MB, and I'm not sure how to compress them without making it another format.

Posted at

save tiff with image compression>>LZW
make sure you flatten the page
i did that and my 20 mb went down to 6 mb

Good idea, Aurora.

For myself, I've finally settled on a story (gone from unintentional Fight Club ripoff to urban legend parody to fantasy story), and I'm writing the script as we speak.

Script written, half of first page drawn. Aurora, you've reassured me - I'd gotten worried that I was behind, seeing as one person mentioned having finished theirs already. Teach me to be paranoid about deadlines. :P

Man, this book is gonna be awesome. I can't wait to see everyone's stories. :D

are you guys going to post your pages here on DD? I was thinking of doing so.

Finished scripting (hah), designed main character, and am hemming and hawing (spelled wrong?) about the title… I'm thinking of "Glance" but with such a wisp of a comic, it's hard to tell what's the most fitting title.

edit: aargh 'glance' is the worst title ever……!!!! gurruuhhh. naming things is the hardest part!!!!

I'm pretty much finished with my story. I saved two different files for each page: one with the template flattened over the page, and one without. Which ones should I send?

Posted at

I dunno. I might post a teaser on here or dA, but I'll see what everyone else thinks about it before I consider posting the whole thing online, seeing as we're trying to sell it and stuff.

Yeah, naming can be really freakin' hard… XD "Glance" doesn't sound horrible to me, though! I like it. Sounds like it would fit a ghost story or something quite well. I guess it depends on how well it fits your story, though. (My title starts off as a horrible pun and then turns out to be an accurate-but-obvious description of the villain, which isn't much better. :P)

im outlining the pages now

only send me the flatten ones.

in another note, im not really in it for the money (it probably wont be a lot considering it's not marked up too much)…i just wanna hold a comic that i've worked on in my hands and feel good.

i dont really have problems with exclusivity, it's your own work so you can show it or not show it online.

I think Glance sounds cool, but it does sound suited for a supernatural comic haha

I have a so-so plot jotted down, need to start sketching it and finding some 300dpi tones, really wish manga studio ran on vista now(or does it?hmm…)

Yeah, I think I'll post a teaser or two. Thinking of the title, will see what fits once I'm done, got some ideas here too.

I'm doing this cause it gives me a chance of doing something else than usual (my usual shortest scripts are 50-80 pages long, haha). And if this one works out, well, I got a couple more stories I could adapt in the future, perhaps make my own anthology comic then? Who knows :D

As for flattening pages… if you draw on one layer only, you could simply delete the template layer and there you go (otherwise you'll have to make it transparent anyway or cover it up with your artwork entirely).

Uh… how do I save as a .TIFF? It's not an option under "save as" or "save for web and devices". (I'm using Photoshop CS3.)

Uhhhhhhhh is anybody wanting to shorten their plot to 5 pages? cuz i might need 7 pages…

Posted at

go ahead, skull
i increased the page count to 52

Umm… could I then request that my story ends up somewhere before Skullbie's?

I've set up the script with three pageturns/reveals in mind and to achieve that it needs to start on the right side page. A story with an odd number of pages before it will shift that to the left side.

Is there a way to tell if tones will print well/not look like ass-aids? I've made some of my own with the bitmap trick but i dunno how to test them, just print and see?

I've started on layout sketches. I can't decide what style I want to do the story in though- my normal one, or a more noir-ish pen and ink. Uhg. I think both could work- the former would be more of a marriage between your words and my interpretation, but the latter might be more suited to the tone of the story. Whatcha thing, Sub?

I'd love to be in as an alternative if I could. I've got a lot of story ideas floating around, so I'm sure I could do a 6 page version of one of them.
