And the winner is…the Knight! Looks like the Samurai lost this battle, but perhaps he will fare better in future matches yet to occur? Well, today was a good day, I just started my comic on a good note, and my side won this match! Alright guys, give me a good nights sleep, and I will come up with another match with Hark and TFGM tomorrow. Catch ya later, but here are some tips! Eat all food groups required, drink 8 glasses of purified water each day, read some of The Wasteland, and take a nice long nap!

You have done well Zeph, a very good job. For now that you have draw for a contest, and if you are willing to accept this title and job, I now make you the Official Illustrator for Forum Fighters! Everyone, big round of applause for Zeph! *Applause and clapping* Alright, next fight still coming up with, I'll give you a hint though. One of the most fierce people of all time, against- wait, that would reveal too much. I'll leave you to ponder, celebrate, and discuss now. Later!

Therealtj I think the American soldier would come in aiming to help the european knight but do some friendly fire, killing the knight by shooting him in the back.
Next he would go after the samurai, but would instead kill tones of japanese civillains, who previously thought the samurai was an jerk but now rally behind him due to the Americans bad behaviour, over whelming and killing the American soldier.

So yeah, I say knight, unless an American soldiers tries to help him out.

Well Roku, I was planning on a different type of fight, but you have swayed me! Except not leaders, I'm planning on saving leaders for special fights. But, you have half convinced me then, I will reveal one of the fighters! A Roman Legionary soldier, here are some facts about him: Only Roman citizens could sign up for the army, they had to be fit, they were not allowed to marry, their Armour gave them excellent protection, and they carried a curved shield. They could punch the enemy with the metal boss in the center. And to see what the armor and stuff looked like, follow http://www.caerleon.net/history/army/gladius.htm. Other fighter is a mystery for now!

I imagine the soldier would have sent fair warning to the Japanese civilians, and it is not as if the samurai hasn't done worse to the European Knight.

Hello and welcome to another exciting episode of Forum Fighters! Now, in our last match, it was the Knight versus the Samurai, and the Knight won. Now, we have yet another match in which a contestant in gleaming metal armor shall take place! In this match, we have the Roman Legionary, a well trained and equipped fighting force, battling for his life against one of the fiercest and most terrifying warriors known to us. But I think I should leave the honors of this to Hark, and remember to read the Wasteland!

Alright, apparently Hark is a tad too busy to start the voting, so I will then. The contestants are…the Roman Legionary versus…the Viking! Yeah, bet you didn't see that one coming, did you? Voting starts now, and will end a week later from the moment of this post! And now, begin!

Ooo, this one's tough. Vikings used spears, hewing spears, swords, and axes.
spear

Hewing spear

Sword

Axe

Roman soldiers use daggers, javelins, and short swords.
sword

javelin

dagger

Things to consider:

Roman soldiers would have been armored with chain mail, scale mail, or light metal plates strapped together from the inside. As noted most soldiers carried a large curved shield.

Vikings would have had chain mail, if you could afford it, leather armor, and gambersons, along with a round shield.

In a field engagement, the Romans would win every time against the vikings. Vikings were raiders and specialized in hit and run tactics. The Roman soldiers were trained for field engagements. In a raid, however, the Vikings have the advantage. Roman soldiers would need time to get into battle dress and form ranks. Vikings would kill those who were fleeing to the armories once they were in the camp. In one one one, though, I think it's fairly even. The Roman soldier has javelins and darts which could pierce chain mail and weigh down shields. Once the range is closed the Viking has a longer reach and better protection from his shield, the small round one that he can twirl around while the Roman has to drop his in order to match the vikings agility. Viking swords were 10 to 40 cm longer than the Roman ones, as I said before, reach is a big factor and the Vikings have it. Vikings also carried hewing spears, which are short swords on spear shafts basically. This gives them the ability to cut and thrust while staying out of reach of all of the Romans soldier's weapons, except for the javelin and the darts. The Roman soldier, however has weapons better suited for piercing the chain mail that the vikings wore, which takes away the biggest defense they had. All in all if you take you're average viking and you're average roman soldier, I'd say the Viking would barely win.

If I go according to history, I'd give the Vikings the edge, as the barbarians took out the romans when they got fat and lazy. But in their prime, I'm not sure who I'd go with.

Yeah, I have a hard time deciding.

Well this is one on one isn't it? I mean this forum is to set one on one battles of history's fighters, warriors and people that just kickass.

So one on one I'd say the crazy warrior born Viking beats the train soldier.

Now if it was viking raiding party vs. roman platoon I'd say the train soldiers would win.

But like I said this is one on one, so Viking.

I'm considering for special events and such we will do either groups or famous people.

Well I played Rome: Total War and when I played as the Roman Julii with their roman legionaries I kicked arse! (Sure I had the enemy set to easy with my soldiers full experience, but it was arse-kickin'!) SO I vote VIKINGS!

nah just kidding, I vote for the legionaries.

Well if we are doing groups this time we did a poor job at making a equal match. We are talking about one of the most well trained armies ever verus raiding parties that couldn't even defeat walls.

Thanks for clearing that up Zeph. Yes, that is what I was trying to say. We will do group matches every 5 episodes, and one on one with famous people every 10 episodes. Everyone alright with that?
