"Honest to god! That's what I am!" maintained TFGM as he waved around his diploma.
"That could have been printed anywhere!" insisted the disbelievers.
"Look. I'll perform surgery on you, right this second. Just lie down on this table and I'll show you."
"Yeah… I think I'll pass…"
As monkey tried his best to convince people of his possible identity, others did their best to gain votes their own way.
"The town might burn down under my watch but at least it won't be as bad as having this guy around" remarked jninja as he pointed at frankkerr.
"Picture this as you go in the voting booths" said frankkerr as he posed shirtless around the lines of people, waiting to vote.
"Dear god! Our eyes!" whined the voters, doing their best to cover their faces.
"I can do this too, you know." remarked monkey and started removing his shirt.
"This is a cruel and unusual punishment" complained the voters who were now seriously contemplating if waiting for their chance to vote was worth the effort.
"Vote for me and I give you stuff!"
"Honesty is what you should vote for!"
"My honesty is better than his honesty!"
"I have a fancy new hat!"
"Wait, what?" said several villagers and turned to Salsa, sporting a lovely headwear.
"Well… My hat… …It's fancy." said Salsa, pointing at it.
"By god it is!" gasped the villagers excited. "Put this man into office!"
"Pfff. You think that's something?" said Rokulily all nonchalant, while wearing sunglasses. "Check out my fancy specks."
"Why that's even better!" roared the villagers, about to faint from the whole ordeal of constant gasping. "Give this woman the mayor's seat!"
As the crowd gathered around the Roku and Salsa, lifting them victoriously into the air, the remaining candidates stared at the whole thing, in stunned silence.
"Well…" said 1337 master, as he proceeded to pick up his campaigning gear. "It's nice to know where the priorities of the town lies."
"…I have a neat hat." remarked TFGM, with a sad face.
Rokulily is the new mayor!
The runner up and subsequent pardoner is Salsa!
Day 1 is over!

OK, I read back through the thread. You say you're the Veteran (I think)… But the paranoid and the twins also can't be killed at night first time either.
It's a pretty safe claim to make in a lot of ways, but it could be a ruse to divert suspicion. I've seen that happen a few times before ;)
