Ranting Moaning and Raving? What happened to all the sharing?

Rant: This thread is so negative.

Moan: Would it hurt to have a little caring and sharing?

Rave: Rave? Are you sure?

I just realized I haven't eaten yet today! (it's four pm here) No wonder I'm not feeling very well, time for a pb&j.

Man, all this talk is making me feel bad. What great artists have been really slow and have had a career of small output but are still widely appreciated? Jim Steranko? I'm thinking his overall body of comic work is limited and that he had deadline issues as well.

How about David Mazzuchelli?

He did… Batman: Year One, Daredevil (with Frank Miller), couple of other stories here and there… then selfpublished Rubber Blankets, adapted Paul Auster's city of Glass… and FINALLY had his first graphic novel, Asterios Polyp.

And I guess some european artists, for example Philippe Druillet.
6 Voyages of Lone Sloane, Delirius, Gail, Chaos, Salammbo trilogy, Yragael, Urm, Vuzz, La Bas, La Nuit, Nosferatu, Lone Sloane 66, and umm… I think that's it? I'm probably missing something in the list and there was also a bunch of short stories for Heavy Metal (or Metal Hurlant rather) and other magazines, but less than 20 books overall. At this point he still has a cult following in France, depsite not publishing anything new since 2000 (other than a collection or two of illustrations).

HAPPY BIRTHDAY BOCAJ!!!
HOW DID YOU CHANGE MY B-DAY TO JANUARY 2!?!?

when i posted that, it was still January 1st!! at least here it was.

it was also the midge's birthday.
Ooh…my B-Day is the 1/24, I lied while signing up for TD (my assumed source of yours).
And Happy B-Day Midge!

Wow, that means I joined DD 1 year, 3 months, and 1 day after DD was reborn! I assumed it was around more than just about a year when I joined..
Now I feel like I can legitimize scoffing at newly joined members, although then Ozone will just scoff at me… unless we scoff at people together… hehehe…

Thread title
The new rant thread needs to be in Roman numerals.
Rant/Vent/Share thread: MMX edition.

;_; No one ever listens to me….

If it's any consolation, I rarely listen to anyone.
———

Now that New Year's is past I'm all excited for Spring. Even if it's not coming to the northern states for another 4 or 5 months. I'm ready to get back outside. Being inside all day gives me too much time on my hands.

edit: maybe I shoulda put "socialize" in the title instead of "rant" or "moan". Seems to me we use this thread more for social chatter than grouching these days.

my personal goal was to have a larger page count than Osamu Tezuka.

This is pretty impossible. Think of all the things he must have wrote and drew plus all his ideas that we didn't even get to see. No one can out draw the god of manga. shezzzzsh
Lol. When I was younger, my philosophy was that the only way to overcome false limitations was to set impossible goals. Of course, that meant I learned the hard way that not all limitations are false. By running into them at full speed. It was a painful learning process, and I try to be more moderate nowadays.

Leonardo Da Vinci? I mean, compared to his peers he made almost no paintings and actually created so few of his inventions it's hardly worth mentioning- and yet the guy's work is literally among the most recognized worldwide throughout history.

Since last night was the "we're growing distant" talk, tonight progressed to the "…and here are the irreconcilable differences" talk. Eh. Helluva start to the new year. But, fortunately, it's been one of those things where it's more about both of us finally admitting the goose has been cooked, as opposed to one of us dropping it in the lap of the other as a surprise. It's good to deal with it before it gets nasty.

On the other hand, the bike ride to work today was laaaaaame. It was 9 degrees Fahrenheit outside, before wind chill. My fingers were still hurting hours after I got there >.>

I'm all caught up with Doctor who. I can't truly base Matt Smith's future career as the 11th doctor, after only 1 minute of horrible acting. he seemed to be trying to be David Tennant. While it is good to give the fans a little foot rub, isn't each doctor supposed to be new?

also, that ending would have been more emotional, if they hadn't dragged it out.

I had to take my computer to the geek squad because it wouldn't boot up, and the guy pulled an enormous hairball from the fan =.= It's kind of funny i guess, the guy was incredulous at how big it was compared to the fan.

Welp good thing i didn't have to replace it, it's a bit faster but i still cant save images.

From the internet?

That's a strange issue… if it's the net you'd suspect a browser issue, but you said you had two different browsers. You know you don't have any viruses that could be preventing you from saving images?

There are other browsers you could test to make sure: Seamonkey, Opera, Chrome, and Safari.

Cat rat trouble… Last night tomcat carried a wriggling rat inside. He went to the toilet with it (where he likes to eat them, because they can't escape), and a short time later he came back to me with NO rat and an enquiring "Mrow?"

I thought "that was quick!", thinking he'd eaten it fast, so I went to check if there was any mess… Nothing. so I suspected he lost the damn thing.
I went looking and looking and prety soon I smelled a rat (literally, haha). I sniffed it out near a book case. I looked around the side of it and sure enough there was a fat grey rat waiting down there. But before I could do anything, it scampered of behind the book case!!!!
Well it was 4 am and I wanted to go to bed, and there was no way to extract the rodent… But there was a roll of flywire near by. So I set the long roll up next to the hole and put a weight on one end to close it off.

And now today I went to check the wire, not thinking there'd be anything there… I shook it out and there was the rat; dead.
So I'm a better rat catcher than my cat. :P
Didn't want it to be dead though… There was nothing in the flywire that would've killed it, so it must have been it's wounds (didn't look much wounded), or dehydration because it was so HOT today. Anyway, lucky I set the wire up or it would've hidden somewhere hard to get and died there instead to stink the place up mysteriously. -_-

I would have preferred it to survive though… Then I'd have let it go in a nigbour's backyard :)

I was just looking online and it looks like Haagen Dazs ice cream doesn't have carrageenan! Yay! I haven't had ice cream in forever. Just my luck that it's the most expensive kind, but oh well.

carrageenan
What the hell is that? Some kind of animal product? You a vegetarian like my sister? Ugh!

Well yes, I am actually. Thanks for the "ugh."
But no, carrageenan comes from seaweed. Seaweed is a source of MSG, which I'm allergic to.

And then consumed by us Americans now.

To find out if you were vegetarian or not I went and actually read your profile. Either I'm a stalker or just addicted that I'd stoop low enough to pay attention to people. Or I just don't wait well.

Never headbang too hard. My neck feels like sh*t.

I think they more "found" it than invented it…if I remember right, people in Japan started using seaweed in food because it made it taste better, they didn't find out until later that it was because of the glutamate in the seaweed.

There are a lot of different natural sources of it, actually. Tomatoes, potatoes, peas I think, grapes. Those are all pretty low and I've been okay with small amounts of them. Parmesan cheese is really high in free glutamate, I can't have that. That's what I ate right before I had my first allergic reaction. :( No more fettuccine alfredo.

For the most part though, it's processed foods that are really high in monosodium glutamate.

I have a confession to make. I just spent four days straight with my butt glued to a chair playing World of Warcraft. On the flipside, my druid is almost level 80. Lethargy FTW.

My cat has been missing for two days now…

I hope you find it! When my old cat manages to get out he usually disappears for two or three days, and I'm always really worried. He's come back on his own every time, though. Hopefully your cat will do the same. They're pretty clever.
