It was so fucking funny…ah but I need a life.

Trust me, that's more of a life then most of us on the internet has, playing with chickens is awesome.

While lurking on several forums, its occurred to me, once again, how nice and friendly the DD community is compared to the rest of the world. I thought that it was just that artists were generally nice people, but after observing several thread wars on various other art/comic websites between artists calling each other some pretty nasty and derogatory things, I can see that's not true. Mind you, I'm not saying that everyone on those websites is a horrible git, there are some genuinly nice people, its just that they seem to be out numbered by tools who think that because they're on the internet, that gives them the right to be a bastard to everyone…

Very disgusting. I don't know how the rest of my family can eat that stuff. It smells horrible too… ugh…

Wow… just woke up after sleeping four hours. Problem is… once I wake up I can't go back to sleep no matter how sleepy I get. Then again I would rather not go back to sleep after experiencing nightmares…

Free roaming chickens? I bet they love that. And I bet they see Skullbie as their mother or something. I remember reading something about how baby birds follow the very first thing they see after hatching as if that thing were their mother.

I've been leaving the chickies coop door open so they can run around in the yard. When I'm outside they start gravitating towards me. Not outright following like a dog but their "pecking path" always changes course until they're right next to me.

Chicken updates! :D

I miss my sister's chickens. They are great birds, I wish I could have them here (probably a no-no while renting, and we get lots of foxes and cats around). It was very relaxing to get up in the morning and just hang out with them outside a few minutes, listening to their little chicken noises and watching them do their chicken things.

Being so far away from my family feels strange. It feels like a movie that's been paused on a single frame, a blurry shot of my family waving at me in the airport. This is how I still picture them in my mind. Yet admist frequent phone calls with my eccentric, middle aged mother a ball of nerves and regret has been forming somewhere inbetween my heart and my throat…

She'll mention how my little sister now has a boyfriend, or how they tore down that one burger joint and the ball of nerves makes it hard for me to swallow. I finally realize – life isn't paused for any of them. It never went on hold the moment I stepped on that airplane.

And maybe in the end that's why it feels so strange, this living so far away. Because we're all people and we all constantly grow and change. Every time I go back and meet them I almost feel like an outsider in their midst – like I must reacquaint myself with these people. And it makes me feel absurd, feeling this way around the people I grew up with.

Maybe I'm the one that's changing and they are all staying the same?

It hits me when I'm caught up in diapers and first words and paying bills and being married and caring for my invalid in-laws – life is moving so fast. Maybe I'm the one changing more than anyone else. Still….it's so hard to tell. We live so far apart, after all.

So I am resigned. Perhaps it's all a stage I'm passing through. The "paused movie" stage. I'm thousands of miles apart from my family, raising my own kids and growing into a different person and for a time…my family and I will grow to become acquiantances tied by threads the color of blood.

Bah.

My husband asked me about these forums the other day. It went something like:

"Whatcha doing? Oh. Those forums again?" He stood over my shoulder. "You're on there an awful lot. So what gives? There's gotta be some kind of draw…"

"Yeah."

"Well?"

"Well what?"

A pointed look.

"I don't know… They're interesting people? Anyway, I lurk a lot more than I post. I just like popping on and reading what they are talking about. It's almost like my 'adult' time during the day."

"A-dult time, eh?"

"Not like that you nut! Anyway, it seems like they all have a disturbing tendancy towards chickens."

"I'm….not really sure how to respond to that"

Well, you could say we're nice people compared to other forums such as *cough*4*cough*chan*cough*… And a forum full of nice and quirky people is very entertaining instead of irritating.

As for our obsession with chickens, you could say it's Skullbie's fault. She's got some really cute chickens… well… better looking than the scavenging mean wild chickens that I see outside my house every day.

Hey, just because I get excite about Skullbie's chicken updates! They're very cute chickens compared to mine.

I think my particular chickens are the spawn of satan, they're sadists, which is why I like seeing nice, lovely chickens like Skullbie's.

Mice are common around the chicken pen, and they eat the left over grain. Unfortunately, I saw one get caught by a black chook. The hen tossed it around and started shaking it before running away while the other chickens chased after her, trying to rip this mouse from her beak. They ended up killing the poor thing. Then they were like: "Bored now, back to pecking and scraping at the dirt."

You live in Iceland; the land of fire and ice. For you it's right next door. It makes sense like a guy who lives in a trailer park knowing about tornadoes. It's a constant threat to life and limb.

Try to explain my wife's volcano fetish. She lives in NJ as far from any volcanos as you can get in all directions. Yet she has all the Hawaiian volcano videos and she's glued to the computer to look at footage from Iceland.

Then there's her Holocaust obsession. But that's my fault, I made her watch Schindler's List.

The people here are wonderful. They've put up with a lot of shit from a lot of real assholes in a responsible and mature fashion. (Not sarcastic)

people change while you're away, you change while you're away.

I remember when i realized this. I kept going home and expecting all my friends to hang out every time. And everytime, someone would have moved away, or we just weren't good friends anymore.
My brothers grew up, and became the people i thought they'd be. but i didn't know them anymore.
It was pretty hard to see things change "so drastically" while you're away.

with my home life i was a little more prepared, because we always get briefed on the "stresses" of coming home on military members. It helped me realize what was going on, but the wife didn't get the same briefings, and she was never prepared for my changes after a few months of being somewhere else. Eventually she got used to it happening, but i don't think she's ever been briefed, and it made the first few trips hard.
Anyone that was around before the "Moan rave and Share" part of this thread can attest to that.

I'm so tiredddd @_@

Been working 9 to 5 four days this week, had graduation on Tuesday (which meant getting up at 5 am or something, so tired I don't remember) and moved home on friday. Someone at work fell and broke her leg so she's out, someone else is preparing for surgery so she's out, and the high school derp we hired for the ticket booth keeps needing weekends off (weekends are all she works btw) so there's three of us left on the schedule and I'm the only one who can take their days. I have a commission in the middle of all this with an impatient buyer, trying desperately to get some updates done, prepare the book for print and now my best friend calls me to tell me that she's getting married to the guy she met a couple months ago in college and isn't planning on EVER coming back here.

And my mom is all "I get that you're upset but I JUST LOST A BUNCH OF WEIGHT SO DON'T YOU DARE BRING ME DOWN."

I want to get out of here. @_@ I don't even know where, I'm just tired.

I had a couple of em call me and all of a sudden… I developed a stuttering problem when talking to em… lol!

I mean… it just… happens whenever… a… annoying… t… tele… telemarketers… call me… I… I… j… just… st… stutt…. stutter… a… nddd… keep going… "uuh…" "ahhh…" "ehhh…"

According to Imdb he's got appearing in almost 20 movies 2011 and 2012? Malcolm McDowell overload!

From listening to his comments on DVD extras and commentaries it seems that very early on in his career that he decided that film making was just a job like any other. So he approaches films like work contracts rather than art like many of his contemporaries… I mean, he still does a great job at it, but the roles don't really have that much meaning to him, so that may explain why he does so many- he wants to make as much money as he can out of them before he retires.

He DOES do a great job, even in bad or dodgy films, so maybe his is the better attitude to take?
-His acting in A Clockwork Orange wasn't really that great, but that's understandable, he was pretty young and no one put in any good performances in that film; all the actors were a bit stilted and stiff, like stage actors doing film for the first time. Not naturalistic like we're used to today.

Urgh, I hope that never happens to my account. I've a permanent notification for two unread text messages on my smartphone and it BUGS ME SO MUCH D: I erased the entire inbox and it still didn't bump those ghost texts out.
