Crocty would be in second place in failing at looking less gay.

Poor guy just has this aura around him that shines a bright, beautiful rainbow.

:O Ozone looks amazingly British.

… and here I thought Crocty was the only one to pull that off well.
I have the advantage of being British though, to be fair…
And australians have the advantage of being descendants of british criminals.
Don't mess with Oz, or he'll cut you.

Irish catholic I'll have you know!

—————

Yay! I made my busby!!!!

Made it in a day. That's sheep skin, with a velvet bag. I've still got to get some cap-lines, have to get my chinstrap with chins-cale and work out how to attach the plume. But the actual hat is fully made!.

They're not normally white and I've actually got it one the wrong way around. but those things would normally cost about 300$ for even a crappy replica.

Couple (or 3) Mardi Gras photos:
Here's the bar that the 23 Skidoo in The Hub is based off- Snake & Jake's X-mas Club Lounge. It's actually featured in this month's Playboy.

And my former bartendin' partner and best buddy, the only guy who'd ever bail me out of jail. He's in the aforementioned Playboy, too. He'd be the guy blowin' fire out his mouth, if any of y'all are subscribers.

Another costume, just for the hell of it:

If officers wore red or even boots I'm sure a white busby was quite fashionable.

You know when you wear the whole outfit you have to tie your hair into a queue and "love locks". (braids at the temples weighted with musket balls, one reason so -called as they were perfect handles for a woman to pull that dashing hussar down to her ooh la la ) ;)

Hahaha! Definitely I'll plait my hair :)
Speaking of red boots- I read about an attempt to form up a unit that not only dressed entirely in red but had all red horse and the men would have had all red hair too (not hussars, I'm not sure what they were). Not surprisingly it never worked… too hard to get all the men and horses.

Both those dresses and both those hats cost me under ten dollars, combined. ;)
Yeah, the bar's a dump, but it's home. It doesn't look much better inside… also, in some places inside, you can see the outside. Through the walls. Because there's holes. But hey- it survived Katrina. They don't make 'em like that anymore.

That's it! I declare a homemade hats party!

Made this for a class assignment on the internet and it's relationship to social expectations and changes, a while back. Those are old school 8 MB RAM chips on there. The mask is cast poly resin modeled off the Guy Fawkes mask and there's an inset on the top for a speaker and mp3 player which is loaded with Rick Astley. The whole thing is meant to look like a Japanese kabuto war helmet.

Best part is how it scares the living crap out of small children.

@ Iba: Man, if I had that mask, I'd wear it everywhere. Heh. And people thing I'm "scary" now, do they! Mwahahaha! No, seriously- I would wear it in public. That think is badass. >:)
Homemade hats are GO! Well, okay. I don't so much make 'em as fancy 'em up.
I already posted this one, but it's the most flamboyant of 'em all.

And this one's got a mini-shrine!

It was hard enough to equip certain regiments with distinctive colored horses; Scots Greys, Grenedier a cheval (all black horses) and squadrons in all line regiments had specific colored horses. (Bays, roans etc BUT NEVER PIEBOLDS!!!) It's fun trying to make sure you get it right when doing a figure because someone somewhere will know and call you on it…

When making the movie Waterloo, they had to scour all of Eastern Europe to find enough Greys for the "Charge of the Scots Greys" scene!

One Halloween a photo was taken of this pirate guy wearing love locks.
