our hero the doctor is free,

I wonder how this doctor escaped. Who was the doctor again?

speaking of which the newest one should be out soon
—————

I'm feeling extremely nostalgic. I used to work out at a boyscout camp. There i made the best memories of my highschool years. I had a connection there, and when i joined the military, i had to leave it all behind.
I didnt make much money. at the height of it all, when i finished as Pond Director (or Admiral LaDuey (LaDuey, is a story in and of itself. my first and most cherished nickname…which also came from this camp)) I made, 1200 for the entire 6 weeks. my first year i made 300. I was on my way to Aquatics director. (you had to be over 21 to be in charge of the entire camps waters).
The most influental friends i have, came from this camp. and we're still in touch today. even tho this marks 5 years since i last worked there.

It's a sad nastolgia. cause i wanna be there, and i wanna work. i could go on for pages about the fun, and the experiences, and the life changing events (don't worry non of it is homo-sexual, tho there is a funny story…for another time)

one of my friends is starting up his 6th year there, and is posting about all the fun adventures so far in week 1. :'(

I have no idea…
But I love his new Avi. :)
Tom Baker is THE Doctor.

Man, that was my nickname in uni because of the long coat and extremely long scarves I wore in winter. ^_^

———-
Actually, the scarves were pretty short now that I recall. They were stripy! That was the thing.
I wore long scarves too, but it doesn't often get that cold here normally. Well, if you're out late at night, all night, then it is…

Wow my new comic is coming along great, i'm dreading coloring it though, I'd do tones but i feel like i shouldn't make it anymore manga than it already is.

This'll be a good comic to use as samples though. I've already seen quite a few ads posted for my style but don't feel i'm ready quite yet. After i'm done with this one i'll post a few threads requesting short story writers to do a fantasy, arabian, or werewolf themed comic :) OR MAYBE ALL THREE~

hardcore.

I just beat Varykia chronicles!!

whooo whoo. and it says that I took roughly 80 hours to beat it. not all at once, of course. :)

The ending brought me to tears and filled me with happiness. It was so friggin' epic.

Maaaaan I need a scanner. It's ridiculous- I hate the Kinko's scans but it's the best I can do. I'm thinkin' about puttin' up a "donate" button to try an' help pay the costs. I doubt I'll have much money for the next few months, since moving = expensive, and I ain't got no job yet. :(

But on the upside, I did scan the first 12 pages of Ch. 3 yesterday; so updating weekly, that'll give me 3 months to catch up.

Tried E-bay?

I've had a LOT of good luck with e-bay for stuff I need, want, and didn't know I wanted until I saw it…

Yeah, but since I need one that's at least 11x14" (I am so not scannin' in pieces!)they still tend to be on the pricey side.

By the way- when I was sorting "give-away" and "keep" clothes, I decided to get rid of (most of) my pantaloons, and for some reason thought of you. If you was a girl, I'd send 'em to ya! ;)

Mustek makes cheap A3 scanners (compared to others in that size that is, it still costs 150-200$ for a new one). And obviously, they're not the highest quality… I have an ancient mustek and well… it scans, haha. The recent ones are supposed to be decent for b&w and not so good for color, according to the reviews I saw here and there.

I'm hoping to buy one myself for one of the projects (which will be drawn on A3 sized paper AND contain double page spreads, which means joining anyway, haha, but at least NOT from six pieces :P )

- - - - -
11 more pages and I'll have chapter 1 thumbnailed.

Yeah, I've seen those- if I absolutely have to, I think I'll go for that. But I'd like a fairly high quality one; the cheaper ones tend to do this weird reflective thing with bristol; the blacks don't come out as black, and for some reason they go to crap when I try to edit the contrast. Meh. But I'm figurin' to spend up to $300. It's just a matter of how much I can save up. :(

A generous thought :)
People always see me as the pantaloon type… Always!
Maybe you could raise the money by selling stuff like that on E-bay? Hmm…

Back when I did large format drawings and paintings I got reeeaaaaly good at reconstructing them in Photoshop after doing multiple scans. It was a real chore, especially doing the actual scans, but in the end I was fast, efficient and smooth at it. Although back then I always did lust after a large format scanner… If I had have got one, I probably wouldn't have ended up 100% digital.

Well, I always scan at 60 dpi, treat it with threshold and then scale down, but I agree the lines come out a little jagged… Which isn't that much of a problem with my art style. On the other side my scanner is from 97 and makes a loud WRRRRRRR while scanning, so I'm sure the newer ones are better.

I think if I could get one, I'd scan at 1200dpi and then scale it down, that should make the lines quite crispy (sadly mine goes only up to 600).

well, back to dumbnails :)

haha. "Dumbnails". lol!

If it makes you feel better, I'm *shudder* coloring.

I scan at 300 dpi (my computer can't handle anything above that), 16-bit grayscale; then scale the size down and bump the contrast up. But some pages I need to tweak a bit, though- scan 'em on different settings.

I'm glad to hear that! I think I saw the topic in the Arts & Literature corner or whatever you posted it in. I think it resembled somewhat newer Marvel stuff rather than full-out Manga. Because Marvel started to mix in Manga with their comics (take note of the eyes), not all of their comics do this, just a few (or most? Idk)

And I would love to help you out with the writing.
But I'm a terrible writer.
And I can barely write my own comics.
:P

And in other news, I just got done running. I woke up at about 9, got ready, and ran. Without eating breakfast, or anything. I just got out of the shower, and I need breakfast, because I'm starving. It felt great though. Let's just hope I can keep this up! (every other day, instead of every day like I said. Every day would kill me) Oh yeah, and it was raining too. I thought I heard some girls cheering for me, and I was like 8D. But I wasn't sure, I was listening to my iPod. I think it was Daft Punk, and for some reason, I tend to hear strange things when I listen to them.
Remind me to look into that…

I think I'm going to cut back on coffee, and start drinking more tea.
Tea tastes better, and it's better for you. It does the same thing coffee does, essentially. Just, coffee is stronger (imo).

And I still have a butt-load of stuff to sketch out for the comic. But it's definitely worth it. I love my comic that keeps getting re-started. :]

Ah yes, and one last mention.
I'm in love with a flash game.

Gangsta Bean
annnddd
Gangsta Bean 2

Why, you ask?
The characters are just so awesome. The gameplay is pretty fun, and just overall, it's amazing. I love the style, and it's just so good.
The creator, on Newgrounds, I heard is coming out with a 3rd one.
I cannot wait.

Disclaimer: I'm not a commie. Nor do I support commies. I wrote this because I think I'm smarter than some of these commie commanders. I know it sounds arrogant and self-delusional but……….

——
If I was a commander of the New People's Army (a Filipino communist group), I will focus less on the violent part but instead, focus on intensifying the propaganda.

Why attack the government troops? They're better armed. They got tanks, helicopters, planes, ships, unmanned surveillance drones (Yes. Any organized military has those!!! this is the 21st century!!!), while my forces are just a rag-tag infantry that still has WW2 M1 Garrand rifles and Arisaka rifles as part of its arsenal. There's no way to beat them in face to face combat.

Guerilla attacks on isolated posts? You can win the battle but lose the hearts and minds of the people. What do you think the FAMILY MEMBERS of those soldiers, policemen, and militia units think? They'd right away think we're bad.

Thats why the best way is to get at those uneducated, illiterate masses. Give em free food, free medicine, and free education. And then tell them that its the fault of the capitalist pigs that you are illiterate and poor. And the free food, medicine, and education is just a taste of what will happen when the country becomes communist. They'd believe that. haha.

And then organize massive peaceful rallies. Clog up the streets, the highways, etc. Therefore shutting down the economy.

What will the government do?

Shut down the economy? Or react violently?

Either route, they'll collapse. :)

Woohoo! I found a pad of 14x17 Bristol at the art store, for $6. It was "damaged"- the cover was torn slightly and the first page was nicked. :)

Also: Beer tastes especially good before noon. I am currently on a diet: solid breakfast, and beer for dinner and supper. And snacks. We'll see if I can lose weight this way. ;)

Ouch at coloring. Actually, after this book I'll be doing a color oneshot hopefully. 48-52 pages in a somewhat unified style should be doable I hope :D

I draw at A4, so the page size reduction isn't that big so scanning at 600dpi helps. Coloring at this resolution is impossible though, I need to bump it down to 500 or 400dpi. Also, at this point I just threshold everything and tweak that setting so that all lines remain visible.

Also, few more pages and first chapter will be thumbnailed. Then I'm going to look over them and see what needs to be designed, looked up, and hopefully start drawing tonight!

…and then 10 chapters + prologue to go, haha.

………….
I don't like Facebook much, but I'm a member… So I thought I'd look up people I knew from the early days of school. But I can't remember any damn dames! My mind is a blank.
Ah, why would I want to look them up anyway? If I liked any of them I'd have stayed in touch in the first place.

I'd have at least remembered their damn names!

I know that "damn dames" in the middle there might be a typo of "names" and all, but I really prefer to think the entire soliloquy is delivered in a noir-detective voice.

Following this, a dame will enter your tiny black-and-white office and stand pensively by the Venetian blinds whilst wearing a white fox skin wrapped around her neck. She'll look dramatically out the window and wistfully say "Of all the schools in all the districts in all the world, that was the one we went to, you and I. And look where we are now."

Oh, right, and my vacation was unexpectedly delayed, which stopped me from playing Mafia and made me finish all my work early when it wasn't necessary. Now I'll have to do the same again and lose as much sleep. Vacations are always more trouble than they're worth! -_-

I'd be surprised if he's not wearing the appropriate trilby as we speak.

Spent all day studying…except for one break to get dinner and try to find a new desk(current one wobbles when I type). When my dad and I found the right place it was closed. So I wasted a bunch of time for nothing. I feel sort of sick(my tummy wummy:()…not sure if I'm stressed out or what. And I'll be on my own all day tomorrow, which normally I would love but I'm feeling rather lonesome tonight.
And tomorrow I get to wake up and spend all day studying again. Stupid #&*(#&$*@ exams.

TO THE DEATH!

So I'm packing, right?
I have waaay too much clothes. Like, an obscene amount. And this is with getting rid of three or four large boxes worth! In my defense, nothing I own (aside from my boots, my two leather jackets, and one vintage dress) cost me more than $20; I'd say 3/4 of it cost less than $10.
But I'm afraid I'm gonna fill the entire trailer with just my junk! And I haven't even packed my press, or a lot of my print stuff, or my artwork- which is boxes and boxes too, not counting other people's art or framed stuff. Gawd. I promised myself after the last frickin' cross-country move that I wouldn't do this again. Now I swear I somehow have twice as much stuff.

Eek.

my problem is, i got a lot of hand me downs, and they were all too large, so i kept them, and now they all fit me. and i dont feel like getting rid of them.
—–

i finally updated one of my comics. i dont know why, but i was hit by this sudden urge to draw. i had to fight my wife to the death because apparently we only have 1 pencil in this entire house.

so i drew a scene from a comic that i'll never make and uploaded it to facara. then i noticed my husky being all cute and passed out. so i started to draw her. as i drew her i noticed that i didnt leave enough room for her hindquarters and tail. so i quickly busted out another paper, and traced what i had down, lower on the page.
as i got the outline done, started shading and adding fur where she just puffs out. shaded the hindquarters and tail. then she rolled over and laughed at me for my futile attempt.

i think she had that planned from the beginning.
