People at the office say I look better with a goatee than cleanshaven.

Problem is, with my goatee I can't wear my glasses because I look like a wolly mega nerd. Now while I proudly display my warhammer figurines, katana letter opener and demotivatoinal posters, I think there's a limit to how I appear to clients, so I started wearing my contacts again.

I think my contacts hate me.

Arg. I have one more page to go on the 2nd chapter, and I can't friggin' concentrate on it to save my life. I've been so slow working on these last five pages; usually I can ink at least a page a day, but I've been sprawling 'em out over two or three days. It's not like I have anything else to do, and I'm not burned out. I just can't focus.

My computer scared the living crap out of me. I opened it up and it made the most godawful grinding noise. I don't know what it is but it can't be good if a computer just suddenly starts making grinding noises one day.

Also, Scandinavian Folk Metal is absolute awesomeness. It's got all the good things about metal and all the good stuff of folk, Celtic, and Irish rock combined.

Your computer is throwing up after hearing Scandinavian Folk Metal.

Why is it most people work in a job they rather not to just pay the bills and never in their lifetime get to pursue the career they have always longed for…

dying unfulfilled and tired?

My computer didn't hear the folk metal. That was elsewhere. And it's definitely a geeky awesomeness.

Although it did get exposed to a few snippets of The Bangles which might have done it.

dear midge,
because people put it as a temporary thing…then they become complacent, and never take advantage of the time they get to pursue their dreams….just saying…i mean, it's not from personal experience….or anything…
—–

i got my butt kicked in sparring tonight….first they put me up against another guy about my age…and i didnt win, but i didnt lose…then master K pitted me up against two girls…i spent the entire time blocking and dodging…then i was up against a massive (not muscle) dude…and he was just tapping at me…and then i was like…"dude you dont have to hold back"…and out of no where came this barrage of punches worthy of a scene from Dragon ball z…this dude was quick and strong….and i never knew it….i learned my lesson…but i still love to spar…i think i'll keep choosing him as my partner from now on…

Because not everyone has luck on their side. Sometimes medical issues or a death in the family will show up, making you spend more time at that job, getting money to scrape by. When youre tight on cash it is VERY hard to pursue your dreams, let alone amount to much.

Honestly, from someone your age, this is a shockingly stupid question. Empathise with the fact that not everyone has the means to break the shackles of their dead end lives.

EDIT: Just waiting for the Fall, then I'll get back into school, woop woop. Also, my new boss' office smells like so much sweat. It's really disgusting, I cant breathe in there. Although, I did get the best numbers in the REGION for credit's Monday open. :D I love how this job toggles from being soul crushingly awful, to a really rewarding experiance.

Some people can't afford to get the education or training for the career they'd rather have. Plus, giving up financial security is a very frightening prospect for most people. And by "financial security", I mean "having a roof over your head and not starving". If you've ever been penniless and homeless, or had something happen that completely changed your financial situation, you find out real quick how to settle for the less-than-ideal, to say the least.

Besides, some people don't base their value system on career advancement, or define themselves by their job. I know a lot of people that work crap jobs that they hate or that bore them, just so they can get by; but they lead happy and fulfilling lives because they value friends, family, community ties, spiritual life, etc.

I think it's in stasis in the hospital with 3rd degree burns and suffering horrible agony after that.

You sir, have just lost any and all respect I had for you as a man and as a lover of music. I'm afraid I have no choice but to replace you with Skoolmunkee as my favorite admin.

I'm sorry, but it's just too painful to see you in this new light now.

HAHAHAHAHA! But I don't care, you see?
I have The Bangles. That's all I need :)

That's all I'll ever need.

Yep. Getting trapped in something they never truly intended or living the aphorism: "Be careful what you wish for, you just may get it."

What the person thought would fulfill them doesn't. They chase after something that in the end was shallow and unfulfilling to begin with because all too many people don't consider things too deeply until they are old enough to have the hindsight that they didn't make wise choices at the beginning. Of course all too many never pause and redefine themselves as they're too busy slaving away and can't see the forest for the trees. Lack of insight and seeing the Big Picture. :)

It's like the guy who cuts everyone off on the highway, tailgates and speeds only to end up right next to you at the next light. What did all that effort get them? And if they do disappear over the horizon what does getting there five minutes sooner gain them? More often than not it didn't change a damned thing. All that effort for no benefit. Just have to laugh. lol!

Having the insight doesn't mean that I listen to it myself. lol!

And the updates continue. Though I just ran out of pages again. Shoot, shoot, shoot. If I actually spent as much time working on it as I do feeling guilty that I'm not working on it, it'd be done already. :)

You say that Bravo, but most of the real fun in life is the striving to GET that objective you're after.

The secret is realising it and learning to enjoy that part before it's too late. Getting what you want is always unfulfilling.

-In the case of your speeding motorist, the best part for him would be the speed and the dodging, the driving shenanigans, not his destination… if he'd only realise it. :(

That said, I'm bidding on a couple of AWESOME items on E-bay right now and I want them SO bad. I won't even tell people what they are here in case some bastard Gazzumps me =_=

Sadly Ozone as you said they don't realize it. And having is rarely as fulfilling as the chase. Spock knew that. "You'll find that having may not be as satisfying as wanting."

And being a total arse on the highway is no excuse for anything. If you can't have consideration for others on the road you shuldn't have a license and your kneecaps should be blown away with a shotgun. Princess Bride's To the Pain

That police sar speeding up to cut off that moron who was trying to merge with a tank and telling them over the loud speaker "Don't EVEN THINK IT!"

Always do right, it'll gratify most and amaze the rest.

As for ebay there are planty of things I can live without. I just love it when I open the box after winning the auction and asking myself "why the hell did I bid on that?"

"You'll find that having may not be as satisfying as wanting."

Which will lead to greater happiness? I think I'll watch some Marx Brothers today. :)

In this game i was on a quest to find 'captain silver's treasure', a notorious pirate who butchered the entire crew after they buried it, etc cliche. So i went into the hiding place to see it was guarded by the silver dragon, captain silver's Himself~or so i thought. After i battled it it started to de-transform back and i'm thinking 'oh captain silver is the dragon time to see his big silver beard and buff pirate muscles' only….it de-transformed into a young woman-captain silver herself :P and i realized not once had they given silver a gender in the game….
Good show game, good show.

I'm actually caught up on my work! Well, not entirely, but I've got as close as I could, considering the very small amount of time I had to do it in.

I've even had time to work on my comic. At this rate, I might even start updating it before the Sun expands and swallows the Earth!

Now all I need is a large sheet of glass, possibly some more plasticine, and I'll be all set to begin. Assuming I have enough free time, anyway. I seriously doubt that though.

I will definitely whore it up in the photo thread if I get it.

If you don't, you'll at least tell us what it was, right?

Riiiiiight?
