But the civilian contractors made out like bandits! The system was designed so the stoppages for needed supplies kept the War Office and the contractors nice and fat.
From what I'm reading, it seems the war office mostly issued guidelines about uniform design and structure, but equipping the troops was left up to the colonels, who got all the money for fitting them all out. Those brigade colonels then skimmed as much money as they could off of the top, doing special deals with certain suppliers and telling troops they could only go to hand picked merchants for things like buttons and other fittings.

But then there were other colonels who would pay for their troop's kit from their own expenses, like Cardigan who spent 15,000 pounds on the hussars uniforms one year…

God i love misfile…it's story pacing may drive me completely and utterly insane but it's all remedied when i buy adspace and receive 500+ clicks for 1.80$ so far B)

I'm falling seriously behind on my comics buffer- i've barely even started page 15 -_- Maybe i'll do batches- so i'll finish the rough drafts of all the pages after til the chapter end-ink them all-then get coloring…yas.

That's what I do- the pencils for an entire chapter start to finish, then go back and ink it. I like it that way because by the time I go back to the first pages I drew (which is usually about a month and a half later!) I've spent enough time away from them that it's easier for me to see proportional/ perspective mistakes and stuff. I probably end up doing an additional hour or two of clean up and correction before I start inking. x_X

Speakin' of such, I'm half way through with the pencils for Ch. 3! I'm startin' to sweat, though- I've got to get 32 pages inked and posted by the end of May.

Ugh. I've been home sick for the past two days, actually three if you count Sunday.
I'm just now starting to feel better.

I've had so much sleep, it was nice, but it was awful lonely.
I'm excited, and yet nervous to go back to school tomorrow, since our play is tomorrow, and I'm not really sure what has gotten done since I was last there. I was supposed to go and help out Saturday, but we couldn't because of another play. And I forgot to sign up on the sheet to be excused from 3rd and 5th hour to go to the play. So I guess I'll wait and see.

Uggghhh.
I want to draw, but yet I can't because I have like, no energy. :(

I dunno. I don't eat pigeon and I barely eat chicken (or meat for that matter).

The colonels were all well connected with Horse Guards and the War Office who were all well connected with the contractors. Also the analogy with my civilian gov't employee and the British Army would be the service contractor (transport/logistics private contractors like in the Crimea?)

Fusiliers and Wellington's Rifles give good first hand accounts of how the system worked 1760s-1815.

My mom locked herself in the bathroom yesterday and I REALLY had to pee. Finally she came out and I dashed for the bathroom…only to have my little sister pop in there ahead of me! I managed to get to the toilet in time, but just barely.

I really need to work on building some confidence. I always judge how good I am compared to other people, and that's making me really scared to take art classes outside of school because I'm worried that I would get there and find out everyone was much better than me. And I know I shouldn't worry or care about that, but I do. But I also really want to improve, and I hate it when I hold myself back like this.

I've gotten way behind in my reading/ commenting on my faves lately. Not to mention PQs, emails, reading non-DD comics, doing housework, pretty much, um, anything and everything. Blech. Too busy. x_X I've started packing up stuff in preperation for the (hopeful!) move back to New Orleans in the fall, and the pre-move yardsale/carnival-esque party.

But on the plus side I think my incredibly messed-up sleep schedule is finally turned around. Got up before 7 this morning and it felt fantastic. I absolutely hate no waking up in the early morning. It throws my whole day into this "OMG I'm such a f**k-up!" kinda mood. Not that I'm not a f**k-up, but waking up early gives me a false sense of accomplishment!

In my family, that is when we use the skeleton key for the bathroom. Course that would be very mean to interrupt another person's business, but if they are doing something like hair or makeup, they get kicked out.

Welcome to my life. Now you know one reason why I don't draw my comic.

Conversely do you also discount any praise you get? My art teachers in school, including my Graphic arts classes in 2002 praised my painting and drawing to the stars. I just compared it to everyone else (almost anyone else) and said it stunk or I shrugged my shoulders and said it was nothing.

Maybe we can start a self-confidence support group.

Oh, trust me- no matter how good you get, or how good you think you are, there is always somebody better than you. ;)

What kind of "outside of school" classes are you considering taking?

Yeah, I know someone will always be better than me…which is why I need to not care about that so much. :(

I think the city art gallery has classes. I took one there when I was younger, and I remember stuff from the older kids at the display looking pretty cool.

As for the compliment thing, praise doesn't help because it actually makes me feel really uncomfortable. I just don't really know what to do with it, and don't like the way it calls attention to me.

That statement makes no sense.
The best artist ever could not have someone better than him/her/it, therefore making your statement false!
Haha!

I'm just kidding, nobody is the best…

But yeah, I'm healthy again!

A seasonal position as an "interpreter" for a local state park where a civil war battle took place. Basically, it requires giving informative/educational tours, demonstrations, and other programs to park visitors. It's natural history and civil war history. Plus, they have an archaeological dig site for Native American artifacts. (It's a very interesting park.) Some of the demonstrations will have me in period costume.
