I initially stumbled upon the Simply Sarah comic (I can't even remember how) and then found drunkduck, saw other comics and it made me feel like it was possible to give making a comic a shot. there is absolutely no discouragement here. which is awesome, it's an open community, not like some closed secret club that you have to know the secret handshake to join lol

I started drawing comics during maths lessons, and mentioned to a friend that i'd like to put them on the internet for a laugh. He got very serious about it and did a lot of searching and looking around and told me to put them up here.
And so I did and I havn't regretted it.

Meanwhile he's considering buying HTML for dummies.

It came down to a couple of sites and one seemed ruthlessly efficient. I chose this one instead.

Being British, I prefer something that's held together with string and needs a good kick to get it started in the morning.

It's very user friendly. I tried a lot of comic hosting sites before but they're all complicated so I went to Drunkduck. And I have to say I'm quite satisfied with my choice. Yep. Cool site is cool.

They made me do it ><

Seriously though, I just transfered my comic from Smackjeeves cuz it seemed a "tad" dead ended.
I've been here less than a week and already made friends and picked up alot of tips and tricks. And yes, it's indeed user friendly and gets you to challenge yourself if only for the sake of trying to stand out in the already outstanding crowd in here.

I looked at other sites including smackjeeves and I liked the interface here better than the other sites. Of course that was before I got knocked offline by some SQL error 800 times but it seems better now :) Also, there are a lot of fun people and the people that run DD seem a little easier going than SmackJeeves ;)

Anyway, really enjoying my time here… hope everyone is doing the same,
AG

my join date says i'm new…but i actually used to have a book on DD like 5 years ago….

i found DD on a forum…that i cannot recall for the life of me. it was a bit of a different animal back then….but pretty much the same beast. i loved the community there/here and everything that was offered for free hosting. didn't we used to publish paper copies of the most popular comics? or was that some crazy dream i has 5 years ago?

anyway, i came back because i enjoyed the community here. everyone was really supportive and things were easy to use. it's been MUCH more streamlined now and easier to manage me book. there are some new bugs with the buy out and i have tried to say my comic is not rated "everyone" for the past week, and it keeps that nice little "E" on my default page…….i shudder to think of any hapless kiddos that stumble upon my stories to see naked bums and my f-bombs dropped in the comments section.

one, because im too lazy to buy a domain and host it.

two, because it will reach a wider audience if i put it on here instead of trying to make a thread for it on every comic message board out there.

Well. I had been on smackjeeves for over an year and my comic gained almost no readers since in there it feels like only Yaoi/shounen-ai/boylove comics gain attention, and my comic wasn't like that.
I heard about this Drunk Duck and decided to do an account in here in the beginning of this year. I was going to upload my comic here then but I changed my mind and kinda forgot about this place.
Now I came back and decided to start to upload my comic here too and I even actually did it this time.
Soyeah. Basically I started uploading my comic here so I could see would my comic gain any readers here ^^'

I've been checking out the various host sites for a future Web comic, and I was wondering if anyone here had any special reasons for choosing Drunk Duck. If you were to start over, would you still stick with the Duck?

And is there any way to avoid having the silly "drunkduck" name in your comics' URL? I like the site, but the name implies that everything here is a gag strip. That's great if you have a gag strip, but…

I think there are a lot of silly and serious strips on drunk dunk. Mine is middle of the road

'Cos I sensed (my inevitable) failure in SmackJeeves, and this place looked pretty cool. A new comic life, I guess, and hopefully a more fulfilling one. 8'D

I joined because I'd read some good comics on Drunk Duck by some people, and I make a ton of comics that I never do anything with.

I decided to post on this one because it seemed a lot simpler, quicker and easier to get going compared to other sites I tried.
I was posting my comic the same day I signed up.
Since coming to Drunk Duck I have found it really easy to use and lots of fun.

I believe DD has the simplest and most accurate browsing interface I've seen so far. Not to mention a genuine sort of camaraderie among users. As a sort of courtesy to all of the great comics I've read on DD I decided to post mine here too.

I first got on this site thinking I would see some ducks getting wasted doing some crazy stuff. But eh, this sites not bad either.

well a comic I liked was hosted here, so I was all "hmm, wonder what this is about?"

I poked around a bit, and thought "woah, so you just sign up, and you can…make and post your own comic? easy as that?" I had never heard of such a concept before XD

I'm not a huge comic-making person, but the offer was too good to pass up. I made an account primarily for commenting, but recently I've decided to pursue a comic.

so…bam!

I chose DD because Day of the Nano Twister got rejected from Bob and George. Looking back, it's pretty obvious why.

Managing comics on DD is real easy to accomplish quickly and concisely. I love it.

Actually, DD is just one of my comics' mirrors. I much prefer my own space with pretty much 100% control over content and design. But the community here is lovely. Much more lovely than I anticipated, really…:D I like this place. It's active!

I just found out about this site yesterday and I'm so glad I did. I chose to post my comics on here because this place really has great talents and it's so user friendly. Respect to the DD community and its' creator. Thank you for helping us to share our stories.

a friend of mine who also makes comics pointed the site out to me. I like it because it's easy to manipulate and uploading comics is a breeze. I'm not very good with html and such. maybe someday I'll make my own site but until then I'm more concerned with making a quality comic.
