I'm off to work in a little over three hours (4-10 shift. Joy.), so I'm curious as to whether other DrunkDuck members have a job and what their experiences are.

I work as a checkout clerk in a small, local supermarket. Hate it. I get to see the dregs of society. People who think playing scratchcards is a profession.

How about you?

Stock boy in a grocery store. I can't stand some of the assholes you have to deal with in a cashier job.

my job is to smack your type in the back of the head, for being completly computer illiterate. (seriously, linguists never seem to know how to operate computers)

My mother is a Photographer and I'm her Photoshopper.
I used to be a waitress, but that sucks and now I can work from home!
Also, I try to be an entrepreneur by selling homemade trinkets, like keychains…but I'm also lazy so that's going so so. >_>

I'm a "security officer" (the company likes being "politically correct", whatever taht means). Low pay, high hazard. I deal with tourists, drunkards, drunkards who think they can fight me, and military men who try to follow female japanese tourists to their rooms (I keep them from getting into the building).

I used to double as the doorman for the club I used to work in. I sympathise.

Had far too many snooker cues broken over my back.

I knows my way around the 'puter, Marine linguists must be a little more versatile than our sister service counterparts (because having us do our actual jobs would make sense, and would therefore result in a lack of military standards).

Going to college this coming fall. After that…hopefully I can better my art enough to go into the comics industry. If not, I'll have hopefully made it through the honors program at the college I'm going to and have a degree that can get me some kind of work.

Any advice on what majors I should pick?

I'm currently going to university to get a History degree. I'm currently working at a comic shop for the summer and getting paid to draw comics on the side(work for hire for various local publications).

Take at least one business class. It's rare to be hired full-time for a comics company; often you're simply working from job to job. You're very much your own boss… and you also have to do your own taxes and other stuff.

I was a full-time freelance graphic designer and illustrator while I was going to school, but I had most of my business wiped out by a bigger company ( Three people who share a building basically. ) so I got a job working at a local hardware store maintaining heavy equipment, since they let me use the metal shop for sculpture projects, for the summer before I leave town for school and try to get back to freelancing in another place.

I'm a dietary prep cook at the local nursing home.

For the record, we don't put pills in the food. Thats the nurses job.

Also, old people are either sucidal maniacs, or horny bastards.

Unemployed at the moment.

I was working in a supermarket deli for the past four months, but the hours were long and exhausting, which limited my time to look for a "real" job. So, I quit and moved in with my parents. I'm now looking for something less minimum-wage-y that hopefully puts my master's degree in biology to good use. (I'll probably be volunteering in an animal shelter or museum to spruce up my resume in the meantime..)

I watch dogs run around at a dog park from 10:30 am to 11:30 am on Wednesdays and Fridays. My uncle works for my grandfather who owns a dog training business and I'm working for him. The two of us pretty much stand around and talk (usually we make obscene jokes) and play with the dogs. I get about $60-$80 dollars a week (for two hours) for having fun! :D

You mean like that boar in Valhalla's feast hall that gets eaten at night by hungry heroes and regenerates the next day so he can get eaten again? %)
