It didn't work. I tried naming it page 443-2-16-14 and it still replaced 8 pages back in the archives. The newest page is the same page from 436-443!

Hyperactive comics!
Sorry, you've misunderstood both Hippievan and I:
You retitled you comic pages "page such and such" we actually meant the .jpg files that you upload. It is THEY who need the unique titles.
Currently all your comic images are called "image.jpg"
What you need to do is ive them unique file names like "Page-445.jpg"
Do you see what I mean now? I'm sorry I was unlear before. Go back to giving your comic pages their usual titles, it's the image files you upload that need unique names :)
Upload issue? You mean you can't upload?
Ok, either we have a memory cache thing again or it's that fucking leacher mass downloading people's comics and overloading our server again. -_-
I will see what I can do about the former, nothing I can personally do about the latter though, only Jamey Sharp can deal with that and he's not responding to emails.
Heh, your rebooting fixed my comic! It was down again but I was beginning to feel like a nuisance complaining about it… („•﹏•„)
Buh…. crap we gotsta get that stuff fixed! Large archives and audience are supposed to be a good thing! I'm more inclined of course to think that it's the archives than my hits, I can't imagine I'm getting many hits here… most people should be reading on my main site and I haven't even recovered the 80% of readers I lost thanks to the crash last year. Θ︵Θ
I wish there was something I could do, I kinda hate how even in community hands it still feels like we're treading water… I dunno, are there any plans being made I just haven't heard of yet? Some fundraiser or something? Aaaaanything? („ʘ﹏ʘ„)

I think we're planning on doing a kickstarter at some point to hire a programmer and get rid of some of the major problems. We haven't really talked about a timeframe for that, though.
We're stalled on getting a formal contract drawn up, and all the legal stuff organised.
We had a DD member onboard who is an expert on those matters but when it came down to it he went silent.
So… I'm going to have to do the contract myself, based on the notes I have earlier from discussions with Trantor and maybe pay someone to straighten it out.
It's daunting though.
When we have a legal contract in place with Wowio then we can move on with everything else.
Hey I have this problem with navigation buttons on Rettubia… It's like images from image locker do not show. I had to set the default ones because those from my image locker stopped working… And the image from the subpage is also not showing.
The images from the image locker have the old path (drunkduck.com), could that be the problem?
Thanks in advance for help! It's not a very urgent thing though :)

It's a bug to do with the change of URL. This is the work around:
Open up the layout mode and edit the image links.
Take out the "http://“ and replace it with ”https://s3.amazonaws.com/" at the begining of the image links.
If you want to update the images you can use an external service like photobucket.
Older chapters of Character Development have been randomly replaced by copies of the current chapter's pages. As the comic is over 1000 pages long I have very little interest in checking all of them and replaqcing them, especially since it ay just happen again. Is anyone else having problems like this or is it just me?

This seems to happen when the file names are the same. So if you upload a page called "page1.jpg" and you already have a file in your archive by the same name, the old one will be replaced.
Yep, just went and checked out your most recent page and it's just called "Page_4.jpg" or something like that so that's probably your issue there. :\
HippieVan wrote:That's the method I have always used. It only seems to be replacing some recent chapters with a copy of the new pages, older ones with the same file name are fine. Generating unique filenames for each page is not something I'd like to have to do, nor has it been necessary in the past.

Since Jamey Sharp set the stite back up to work with our amazon image server this is the situation we have Gunwallace.
Jamey was kind enough to fix some things for us, but now I can not reach him at all to change things like that.
If you know a person who has some expereince with Python and interfacing with Amzon image servers and you trust them then maybe we can set them up with the credentials to fix that for us. Till then our only option for now is the work around of using jpg files with unique names.
My solution, since 2004 first posting on DD and Keen Space, has been to use the full date as part of the title. That way you always have a unuique, sequential name as well as a good reference. :)

@Nekko- I'm having that same issue too. I'm not sure what causes it. I've rebooted the site pretty regularly so we're not running into the same server error for archives and PQs and stuff… It could be to do with the Apache server needed refreshing, but JNP is the only one equipted to do that and for various reasons he's not been able to. I'll keep asking him.

You seem to be implying this is my fault, and I should have been using a better system for posting since I started, but I'm betting I'm not the only one with similar problems. Perhaps a clear warning somewhere about this problem might not be a bad idea?
You've misunderstood my reply Gunwallce.
I'm saying the current problem is due to a server configuration setting between this site, on Linode, and our imge server on Amazon and there's nothing I can do to change it since Jamey Sharp of Comic rocket who set it up can't be contacted.
So the workaround we have found is to use unique names.
I used my own unique file name system as an example of an easy and practical one to choose if you were to go down that root.
You've told us that it is only recent chapters that are affected, not all 1000 pages of your archive, so presumably only new pages that you are currently uploading will need new names?
-as well as any of the more recent paes that are also affected.*
*presumably the ones that were added after the resteroration of the site?
