Here's a question, for the creators, here, that have adult themes and situations, in their comics.
How do you promote your comics?
Do you have facebook groups, or use any other social media?
If so, how do you get around the rules?
Do you do non adult character pinups, etc?
I am actually really curious how everyone promotes, and wanted to get more involved, in the community, here. So, there are the questions. My comic has a lot of nudity, in it, and it is all story driven. I suppose I could edit or censor the panels, but I've never been a fan of censorship.
Thanks, in advance, for the replies!
Jay

Promoting comics with adult themes
I think the adult comicer El Cid (http://www.drunkduck.com/user/el cid) runs a special adult comic advertising group.
Also, Adult comicers like him and Falopiancrusader (http://www.drunkduck.com/user/fallopiancrusader/ ) do things like participate in the DD awards:

I haven't done a porno (yet?), but my stuff is adult enough to run afoul of the terms and conditions of most web services. Can anyone recommend a service similar to gumroad where I can sell a graphic novel full of graphic torture and rape (and an important literary message about not choosing psychopaths for leaders)?
The reason I asked, is I, of course, want to build my comic and get more readers. I follow a lot of artists, on Facebook, etc, but as everyone knows.. the terms are really strict. So I was just curious as to how people promote their works that contain nudity and adult situations. As I said, I'm not one for censorship, but sometimes, it makes it harder to promote your work.
Deviantart has lots of adult content often with links to buy copies and such. It's also a great place to post your art as if I ever do so. The most I've done is some of my models as my figure stuff disappears under the super expensive dollfie figure pictures that are usually dull lighting studies.
I should probably point out that my adult comics webring is no longer in operation. It was going strong for a while there, but eventually the influx of new adult comics slowed down and we ran out of momentum. All good things must come to an end, I suppose!
One thing I have learned is that, if your work is of a high enough quality, and it has literary value, a lot of times you can get it posted on sites where it's technically "iffy" so long as you go to the admins first and ask them if it's okay. They do make exceptions sometimes, but the important thing is that you communicate with them and also check first if you're going to post anything that's even further pushing the envelope. You don't know for sure if it's off limits until someone tells you "no."
Even adult sites are going to have content restrictions (violence, bestiality, bodily fluids, etc.), so you're always going to be dealing with that. The only way around it is to start your own website.
If you're looking to get readers to your adult comic, the steps are pretty much the same as with any other comic. Get involved in the community, take part in community projects, maybe start a community project or two, maybe do some collaborations with other artists, and of course be sure to leave comments on other people's comics and participate in the forums whenever there's a topic where you have something to contribute. Of course, it also helps if you have a good comic. That's important.
Thanks, for the advice, El Cid. I'm sorry to hear that your webring is no longer around. I would have enjoyed that. I am trying to get more involved, in the community, here, which is one reason I made this topic. This is the first time I have attempted a web comic, eventhough the ideas have been, in my head, for over ten years. I'm excited that the community, here, is so open and welcoming. As I said, on one of my pages, I have put my comic, on other sites, but this has been the best and most responsive community, by far!
Thanks, to everyone for the comments and advice. I appreciate it all!
