And now the age old question.
Does spam ever work? Like does someone actually click on the link and buy the product?
It must just like there's always folks who fall for scams and cons like the guy in Nigeria with the cash or the winnings from a contest you never entered.
I remember friends getting caught up in chain letters, including the ones with money you "invest". Get to the top of the chain and you rich!

Speaking of spam. It's amazing how awful websites are on phones these days. I hate looking up stites on my phone because of the popups that ask you to subscribe to the site newsletter, pop-overs, auto opening vodeo ads etc, the notifation requests. Chrome is probably the worst browser for that. Google is not much good these days. :/
When people say "oh Bing is a crappy search engine" I just groan… It was never crap, it was just not quite as good as Google. Nowadays Google is not quite as good as Bing. Bing is less censored (and has been for many years), it's also less slanted to comercial content and ads.
Speaking of Google (king of spam) I got an email from them warning that DD isn't optimised for phones so it might harm its search rannkings. UGH!!!!!
Yeah, the site is a bit small on phones, but it's 200% better than any mobile site I've ever seen.
No better way to ruin the experience of a site than to get the phone app.
Where the hell is everything? Scroll, scroll- what is this? Scrolled too much.. scroll.. what? Screw it reload the page.. Why can't I find anything?
Screw it, back to the classic web version.
I'm hopeless with phone apps.
And somewhere in there is a "porn storm" of pop-ups including ones in foreign languages. This ad is in Chinese… sanskrit? Tagalog? Whew, at least this one is in Spanish—
(When I was learning web coding there was a code you could put in that when the user closed one pop-up and two more would open. And so on so the user would end up with a storm of pop-ups. And pop-ups originally mostly advertised porn because as we all know the internet is for porn)
This website game is pretty hard to keep up with :(
I pay the bills ok these days and manage issues, get rid of spammers, handle problems, help users get into their accounts and answer all sorts of questions by email over and over, manage our Facebook and Instagram and Patreon and Youtube and the podcast stuff… but the site seems like it's fading away.
People abandon us for crap like webtoons, Tapas etc, even though they're just hosts like us and you still have to work to promote your stuff on them like any other site.
I'm starting to get a bit demoralised honestly. Maybe I'm just feeling a bit down this week?
It seems really Sisyphean.
I know things change and you have to keep up, but when your long time members just drop off to go to other sites instead that's a sign that people have lost faith in us.

Oz, my man! I'm here til' the very end! This site, and only this site, I consider my base! As far as I see it I have no future on corporate sites like Tapas and Webtoons! The Duck is where it's at! Call me crazy, call me out of touch, but I think the Duck is the Gold Standard for how a webcomic site should roll in this day and age! And such a colossal part of that is thanks to you, Oz! Your Oz the boss, and I'm stuck with the Duck!
Drunk Duck is an invaluable website that is far more accommodating than any other option out there. It has created a platform for so many aspiring creators like myself, and I cannot overstate how important it has been on my journey as an artist.
The work you do effects others exponentially in a myriad of invisible ways. DD is something special, and the world would be a poorer place without it.

My apologies I have not been as active on here these past couple of weeks. Work has been really draining. As a relatively new comic creator there's a lot of different sites to keep up with to try and grow. I love the community here and I am not going anywhere. Thanks again for keeping the lights on so us newer people can find you.

Yeah, jobs sure are draining things. I've recently began training at this new part-time cleaning job I got now and I was so numbed out of exhaustion coming back from that today I didn't think I'd manage to draw this afternoon. Then I sat down and just did it and got back into it (fortunately). But regardless if our creative progress is somewhat halted by real life stuff or we manage to keep it coming in whatever interval we got setup anyway, we don't give up. That's the key. Never give up. We will survive😎

Maybe. We're seeing each other again a year after we split. Getting on well… It's nice to have a reset.
Weird though. We're still the same people with the same issues. But we're a bit more understanding of each other, and fit well together.

You don't need my advice, but one of the things I know about ladies - if she's under the age of, say, sixty, do not refer to her as "a handsome woman". It almost never is taken well.
