I kind of wish there were a gym around here that did sparring and martial arts. The closest we've got is some overpriced Dojo in the trendy section of town that supposedly teaches ninjitsu and kaiten kempo. Personally, I'm wary of any place that says they teach ninjistu. Usually it's total BS, and they're really teaching something like karate and they just make you prance around like a fool and say it's "stealth".

I'm just really in the mood to go in and spar against someone. I want to try out some of the techniques I've been working on lately for dealing with Mui Thai.

ninjitsu
lol! Those techniques are no match for piratsu anyway.

And without playing dress-up it's meaningless.
Valve's new technique of Jarate beats both. You should practise that instead, it's quite effective. :)

I have to do an analysis of Games and Activities that I did from ages 0-17. I don't know about you, but I don't remember everything I did during my early childhood. What is worse is that we have to identify the activity, who taught us, tell how it helped our growth, break down different aspects of the activity, etc. etc. I think I might have to BS a good part of it just because of the fact that I can't remember details from that far back.

I just started to remember all those shows and other stuff that came from the 50s. Now I'm reflecting on this and it's got me wondering how the heck we survived. I'll probably never understand this "father knows best" stuff nor will I ever figure out why a woman would dance around in a brand new kitchen/laundry room/etc… looking so happy about having new appliances to do the house chores all by herself. Put me in her place among the brand new appliances and I'd be thinking something along the lines of "oh, great. I got new stuff to use to cook my wife's dinner when she gets home and to wash her clothes. Oh no… that stain… it REALLY IS that TIme of the Month for her again! NOOOOOOO!!!!"

The Jetsons cartoon also got me thinking… So in the future we're all going to be THAT LAZY??? I mean… George only spends about 2 hours a day doing nothing but pushing buttons while Jane stays at home pushing more buttons to do her house chores and cook dinner for the family… and they're still complaining that there's work to do!!! I'm scared of a future where we don't have to learn anything in order to get work done now…

sorry… brain on overdrive… too much coffee…

It does make a sort of sense when you think about how difficult, tedious, and backbreaking those tasks were before the new appliances. ;)
And even when it's just something like a remodelled kitchen that's still a huge point of pride for a household- It's also understandable from the point of view of it just being great to have nice new tools to work with: when you're in any sort of a job it's always great to be supplied with brand new tools and equipment, whether you actually own them or not (in the case of the workplace).

And while the housewife's job was in the home she wasn't her husband's slave or drudge- she was part of a team. Her work was for both of them, as was his. The husband usually always had the more demanding job physically and psychologically- as you can tell quite scientifically from the massive disparity in life expectancy for men and women that was still quite large even back in the 1970s (except for childbirth in earlier times).
The real negative of the woman's role then was the lack of recognition for that work, and the lack of social acceptance or opportunity to do much else, not the nature of the work, which was no less important, valuable and necessary than anything the man did.

So i was reading a 'shittiest movies of all time' list and Glitter was not on it. I was kinda miffed until i saw this comment:

Way surprised Glitter's not on the list. Wait, no I'm not. I think it was so bad that even putting it on the bad movie list might be giving it a false sense of accomplishment.
Ahahaha well played.

Why the pic Skullbie?
Really lame reason >_> I was going to do a print test at school, but you need to use the desktops there and i had only brought my laptop. So I put in on image shack, and being the lazy butt i am, just 'hid' it in the post instead of emailing.

That makes sense. I was thinking of what todays woman might be thinking if she found herself in that situation. It also makes sense that a good kitchen is THE pride of the home. After all, from a good kitchen comes good food which brings the family together. I'm still going to feel disturbed when a kitchen comes out that doesn't require anyone to do any work… Want spam and eggs served over chinese fried rice? Push a couple of buttons on a computer and the kitchen does the rest…

their traditional style forums are a great place to find out about certian types. YMAS (your martial art sucks) Is a great place to learn where martial arts fail, normaly in comedic form.
they also have a school review forum. someone may have reviewed a school near you.

Enjoy. they're kind of harsh to new guys that ask what they think are dumb questions. like "how come no one does tai chi". but i'm sure you wouldn't have a problem. or all your questions may be answered in a search.

But I'm totally happy I've finally started drawing my comic. Although I realised I already made a lesbian joke. On page 1.

If I remember correctly, the Jetsons cartoon was set in the year 2000. Nope. Just looked it up, 2062. So will this really happen when I'm 74? I doubt it.

Yeah, time-saving appliances tend to make us do more work, not less. In the workplace at least…

The less time and effort a task takes = Less money the task is worth = You have to complete more of those tasks to earn the same amount of money as you did when you did them the old way.

Moral = progress isn't always progressive.

I need a new TV show to get into while I'm drawing. I haven't really watched many series in the past ten years- I could probably count 'em on one hand- so I'm clueless. Can someone recommend me something that I can watch on Hulu, and enjoy without having to be glued to the screen to get what's goin' on?

Posted at

well, hyena, since you asked. Watch "It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia" and "Dexter"!

edit: if you're looking for good background noise, put away the Hulu machine (err..) and just watch Scrubs. I guarantee you, it's on. IT'S ALWAYS ON

I can't wait for the new anime season… :3

It is 4:30pm and my redelivery of Batman (and The Goon #8) isn't here yet. >:[ I bought them almost 2 flippin' weeks ago and if the package people don't come to my house RIGHT NOW and give it to me I am going to have a huge temper tantrum. Amazon has failed me so hard this time. NOW NOW NOW

Guess I should work on a comic while I wait.

I'm in the same boat right now- I'm waiting for my Saints season tickets! And I won't leave the house, even though I've got important errands to run- they get here, or I'm sure they're not gettin' delivered today. So I'm workin' on the comic. Sheesh. At least it's better than pacing the room and chain-smoking.

My teacher gave us two last minute textbooks to order. I just hope they get to my house by Saturday, because if they aren't there then, I have to wait another week.

I'm enjoying that thread to ozone.
—————

i got sick today. it set on rather suddenly. i was getting ready for work, and suddenly i was very warm, and my stomach was upset.

i thought it was from improper sleep. (was half awake all night) so when work started, and nothing was broken, i took a nap. woke up rather warm, but feeling better. grabbed a fan and had it blowing right on me. when i got to cold took it off me, and started reading a book (darwin's children by Greg bear) started getting sick. at the end of work i started vomiting. i had a banana from the shoppette on the way home, haven't felt sick since.

Wow… lots of people waiting for deliveries that are late. I've finally got the package I've been waiting for since I ordered it last week. Yep. It came just in time. I just ran out of my medication yesterday and just got the new bottles in. This should stave off death a little bit longer…

Bad News: I'm depressed, my ankle hurts, and I'm lazy.

Good News: I'm pretty sure I impressed everybody in Drawing class today. I am officially awesome. And there's a really cute scene latina girl in my lunch.

…what?
Oh, that's right. I did say that I wasn't going for them!
But she's cute!
…what?
I said that before?
Yeah, well, she's different!
…what?
That's what I always say?
Not this time! I'm sure she's different!
…what?
I'm just doing the same thing over and over?
Your right.
