I'm sure you'll do great at your new job, usebooks. It sounds like a lot of fun!

I really don't have anyone to talk to these days. I haven't talked to someone who I considered one of my closest friends in nearly two months now, another is always preoccupied with other stuff, especially school right now because he has exams soon, and the person who I consider my best friend has been annoying the hell out of me(she has started lying to me for attention).

I had a fun time in class today. My group and I were trying to get pictures of young male doctors for a project, but one of the prospects was a crinkly older man with a grey streak. 10 minutes in photoshop took 20 years off him. My classmates stared at me and asked why I wasn't making a living making supermodels look good. Some even joked and asked if they can fix up some pictures of them.

So, the previously mentioned jailbait managed to find me on facebook and keeps sending me messages asking what concerts/shows I'm going to

I hope she doesn't find your twitter account. That site makes stalking like easy mac.

I don't have twitter. I haven't got the time to update it. But that isn't stopping her from being friendly. Something tells me she's just one of those girls who is way more mature than the other people her age, so she's looking for anyone older and more mature who is willing to be nice to her and it turned into a crush for a bit. I can hardly begrudge someone of that since I did it when I was younger too. If it goes like it did for me when I was that age, she'll be over it in a week.

At least, that's my hope.

I've been so tired lately. I can't concentrate on anything for more than five minutes and I can only stay awake for a few hours at a time. I nearly drowned this morning because I fell asleep in the bath. This is an incredibly bad time for this to happen, since I've got about two months worth of work to finish in less than a week and I'm spending my ever shortening waking hours complaining about having no time on here.

My group and I were trying to get pictures of young male doctors for a project,

I like the sound of this project.

It would be nice if things like that would just go away, but I doubt that it will…it's probably best to make it clear you just want to be friends at this point before it's going to really hurt anyone.

We are getting people to rank competence based on the pictures and a short, neutral bio about the doctor. We decided we wanted to use young doctors since old doctors automatically get a few more competence points.

I've been very clear about that. I have enough things to worry about without getting the crap kicked out of me by her brother or being sent to jail.

Ah crap. The drawing surface on my tablet is coming unglued. Anyone know how to fix it? I'd use superglue but I'm afraid of ruining the tablet.

You should try 5 hours energy or just get on some energy drinks, better to be a caffeine junkie than to fall asleep in the bath and drown

Somehow, I think energy drinks are a band-aid solution. I think your body is trying to tell you something, it would be wise to listen.

I decided to start playing Silent Hill 5 over the long weekend and I am sad because they make you fight monsters in this game, and the monsters are hard, and there's no 'easy' game setting. :[ In all the other games you could usually just run like hell from any monster harder than a nurse, but in this one they practically swarm you at points, follow you into rooms, have long distance attacks, etc. There's a complicated combat thing but I can never be arsed with that stuff. I just want to run away and be spooked by creepy fog town and monster noises, not actually have to fight them constantly. I'm pissed. >:[

A fucking nurse backed me into a room and knifed me to death in the hotel, and I couldn't stop it because it was hitting me too quickly, and the last save point had been near the start. I stopped playing at that point. Also: needlers. Just. . . needlers. Ugh.

Yes, it's telling that it hates me. It has been doing so with alarming regularity lately.

So, I'm talking to a friend's sister ( Different sister. Not the jailbait. ) on facebook right. And this girl is pretty cool. She's pretty entertaining and interesting to talk to so I've just been shooting the breeze for a while. Apparently she's already read Last Words sometime way in the past and just recently tonight realized that I'm the one responsible for it. I find it incredibly odd, that of all the people I could choose to just kind of randomly pick up a conversation with in this city, that it would be the one who has read my comic. It's such a weird coincidence that I'm not sure what to think of it really.

Also: needlers. Just. . . needlers. Ugh.

I did okay with them because I could run to a doorway they wouldn't follow through (I'm guessing a change in programming area) and I could fire axe them in safety. Later on there are these split-axe-headed mofos that just kill the shit out of you, and they attack in twos and threes, so you can't even fight them like you're supposed to. If there were more shotgun shells in that area it would be doable, but 4 shotgun shells for 7 bastard bad guys doesn't fly. (I know I can run from the first 5, but I feel like this is indicative of things to come.)

Anyway I'm sad because the part of the game I made it through so far was sufficiently creepy and atmospheric, and the bad guys were manageable. But suddenly things got very hard and although I'd like to keep playing, I don't play Silent Hill for the combat.

I fucking hated silent hill 3, it scared the snot out of me and i didn't understand that i wasn't supposed to fight all the monsters like an rpg. Also she had the worst movement controls goddamn her :gem:

The only horror game i actually got through a decent ways was haunting ground because i assumed it had softcore porn in it-it did but it's the kind that disturbs the crap out of you u-uuugh. I sold it back to gamestop.

speaking of games, I was playing TF2 today and something happened that had me laughing like a loon for ages:

I was an engineer. I made a nice little teleporter. But unfortunately it had a bug and one you teleported onto the exit you were trapped and couldn't move…
I was stuck when I tellied into it. but the funny thing was that people kept using it and we kept all piling into it on the same position, more and more people! And they were all going "wtf?! WTF?!?', it was hilarious!

Of course you can choose another class and that will kill you so you can escape, but not many of them thought of it. Ah, it was so funny :)

Having a clumsy, wimpy character is more scary. They designed the silent hill protagonists to be that way on purpose. Now the guy in 5 can fight, but they ramped up the bad guy difficulty too and make you fight them. I'd rather have a clumsy fighter where I don't have to fight at all.

Haunting Ground was pretty great, creepy atmosphere, no bad guys (usually), and some unique elements like no weapons (although you could slam doors in people's faces). They did a pretty good job with the dog too. I got pretty pissed off at Danielle though, she was too good.

Maybe I should play Dead Space this weekend instead?

Dead Space relied on the 'oh no something nasty is jumping out at you' kind of horror too much, which gets boring after a while. SH5 did it as well, but at least the monsters were all creepy looking (except the nurses, they are stupid).

All this talk of computer RPGs makes me miss my old pencil and paper gaming groups. I went through 6 characters in Call of Cthulhu. If you met a monster there and didn't have a bag of Molotov cocktails and sticks of TNT you were dead. Even then you went insane from seeing THINGS MAN WAS NOT MEANT TO KNOW. But one PC was a proto-Jungian psychiatrist. :) I miss that stuff. Teams of creative players beats the heck out of the AI idiots they give you in computer RPGs.

As a game master I once ran Dr. Who and an immortal sorceress as helpful NPCs. lol!

For the comic I've run out of photographs! And I haven't had time to put together the next shoot which involves almost 20 figures and horses. So I have to do pre-planning and shoot different elements seperately and composite them in Photoshop. But there are those horses. Big bulky things that fall over whenever the legs are posed.

But this chapter concludes with a magical battle and that'll be fun to shoot. Maybe I'll do the astral bodies nude… lol! Gratuitous nudity! lol!

It's funny that people should be talking about games now that I came in here to rant about how I'm way too freaking addicted to Varykia Chronicles for the ps3.

It's like an war simulation/third person shooter that got combined with an fantasy rpg.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-J1amN78zjQ

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=eEMOiceXxYY&feature=related

What I'm really addicted to is the side missions, or Skirmishes (that's what they're called in the game). Those missions can be played over and over, and it has no real bearing on the storyline, etc… and you can choose settings you like, such as an desert battle or the ruins of an city…. provided that you actually unlocked those places in the storyline mode.

it's good for earning money and exp… as well as practicing for some of the most difficult missions in the storyline. and by god, I just love blowing up random crap with my tank…

Oh well. as much as it's eaten up my time, at least I managed to get some work done… got a panel done last night.

Aaaaw, me too. :( That's probably the only thing I miss about highschool. I'd like to get back into it one of these days, but have no idea where I'd meet people to play with that aren't into that unimaginative, stat-heavy, hack-n-slash type crap.

Oh, and I never had a CoC character that didn't go insane. ;)

i'm starting to see results of my working out. like toner body and more energy thruout the day. also, my confidence is up. and today, someone who works out a lot, (not quite a body builder, but the dude loves his gym time) said something that really gave me a boost. "hardly working or working hard?" …."not as hard as your slow day"
ianno, but it made me feel good. seems like a compliment to me.

my workout buddy has actual work today, but he wants to swim a mile when he's done. this'll be fun.

Games:

Finished silent hill 2, loved it. I got it easier as I was playing after a friend finished the game so I had some stuff unlocked that's normally not available so I deliberately went for a different ending. Can't say I remember either too clear. One involved a boat and the lake I think.

Other stuff:

Well, all this talk about writing scripts on this thread finally got me working again. Wrote 15 pages yesterday, which covers first short "chapter". Got at least 85 more to go (I'm aiming for 100+).

ditto to you both. I miss playing. and as I got older getting people together was always a hassle especially for larger campaigns which if we play we would not get any farther than the bar at the starting town. I think there are online groups which play text based. Never played that way myself and would still be time consuming to say the least especially with all the typing. But I think wouldn't be the same as being together with a group of friends around a table in person, seeing the expression and hearing the jokes. That's what made it fun for me apart from playing make-believe.
