I work as a technician (i.e.: grunt) for a local pest control company, but I'm also a grad student right now and am working with several professors there as well.

I work inventory at a retailer (Target, specifically, if you live in the US), which means I get up at 5 (the one in the morning) and clock in by 7. When I'm not doing that, I'm either in school or being an actress-for-hire.

And when I'm not doing that, I tend to just fall over exhausted.

LOl I just "quit" today. I used to work at the art store. I hate people.

I'm a student now and I have to make all the money I saved up last until next year. still making store signs when I feel like it. (9 bucks an hour to play with paper ftw)

I'm also a psychic healer on the side.

I don't charge for this. Its up to you to donate an amount commensurate to how much I've helped you. I accept in cash or kind (goods and services). And I only advertise with word of mouth for the most part.

So this job isn't really a moneymaker. If I do this fulltime, I'd be a homeless man. A part time fastfood worker would still make more. I'm not out to scam people.

But in spite of that, I get more respect from people when I say I'm a healer and/or comic artist and/or writer as compared to my fulltime job that feeds me and pays the bills.

Ironic isn't it.

The job that pays my bills and feeds me = not much respect.
The job I love but make only pocket change = more respect.

lol!

Be sure to make sure people identify you with the respect job when you make news headlines for whatever reason! :)

…The news media ONLY seem to identify people by a job title… at least in Australia.
It's all "unemployed man", "Former prostitute", "student", "construction worker", "Businessman" etc.

It's ridiculous. o_O

They should go with "human being" or identify them by species. Running(Homo Sapiens sapiens) under an interviewee's picture would be an improvement.
The identifiers are so random anyway.

Student assistant at the library. Only 15 hours, but hey…every penny counts. It's not easy to juggle a real job AND being a theatre major at the same time, with all of the lab hours I have to get.

I'm a student assistant in the circulation department of the library. (It basically means I'm a slave to the librarians). I check out materials, take inventory, keep the books tidy, I have even helped other departments when they are in need.

I'm getting my master's in Occupational Therapy.

I used to work as a dishwasher at a local restaurant. I didn't really like it, so I quit. I kind of wish I kept it sometimes, because I haven't found one since.

In the meantime, cartooning is my job.

I have three jobs actually.

First is I'm a lifeguard at my local pool.
Second is I work for my mom at a math and reading center. Basically helping little kids read, correcting packets, etc.

Then, my last one is… interesting. You know those ladies at costco who give out free samples? I recently became one of them. I am the youngest one working there, and it is weird.

But during the school year I'm just a student.

Comics and Visual Storytelling - i.e: job-opportunities happen to other people. But I'll make do - I'm sure I can trick the local newspaper into giving me some space on their comic-page. :)
