That looks awesome Skull'!

Got a fancy new all in one desktop with wwindows 8.1 but can I get it to work with my Wacom? I get a couple of minutes at best before it dies on me and no driver or fix seems to help damnit! This really has me tearing my hair out which is not good since it's already not as thick and luxuriant as it once was!

There's a webcam in there though, so there should be a mic. If I can work out how to use it I'll record a song I wrote called Drunk Duck Funk for your listening displeasure - can't let Gunwallace steal all the limelight!

Windows 8 has its own terrible tablet driver installed (even on non touch screens) that you have to disable. I dont know how that'd fare on an all in one though…
I dont envy you one bit. Nothing is more irritating than tablet driver issues. -_-

I've been limiting my exersise to the mornings because it's been too hot here… but it's cooled off a bit now so I'm doing a proper job of it! Yesterday I just went for it, then even though I was buggered I decided to shift around the furniture in my office, taking the big TV off the wall, sticking it on my desk so I could attach a new 5.1 sound thing to it, then spend ages under the desk rearanging cords and cleaning up the spaghetti a bit.

One thing I hate is we still have to deal with cord charging. I mean we're sending people to mars and have a bionic exosuit for fully paralyzed people and then you come home to your rubber wires like you're on a life support machine.
So coding is pretty fun. Like id say it's a 50/50 mix of super fun and super shitty. Here'smy main game screen.
Thank you for tempting me.  I could make a game with that using Clickteam Fusion 2.5.  :)

I have a birthday coming up in a while. I wanted to hire out a Lamborghini Countach to have someone chauffeur me around in it (I refuse to learn to drive), but much to my dismay there AREN'T any here for rent! Not for thousands of kilometres… I'm not sure if there are any to rent in the whole country now.
There are plenty of the newer models all over the place and plenty of Ferraris, but I don't care about those! I want a nice early '80s or late '70s classic angular gorgeous Countach. :(
No one else does though it seems…

Of course there are Lamborghini Countaches here, just none for rent anymore. :( :( :(

Maybe I'll go horse riding instead? It's been YEARS since I've ridden.

Riding in your Hussar gear?? That would be a grand photo opportunity.

Keeping the actual date of your birthday a secret doesn't prevent us from sending you lame birthday images you know!

For my birthday I just drove my Subaru on the NJ Parkway as if it was a Lambourghini. And I was still passed like I was standing still by moms in minivans racing to their kids' next event.

New Jersey NASCAR on a highway near you!

 Hey, me too!

As kawaii says, you should FOR SURE show up for horseback riding in your hussar gear.

Halfway done my first essay! Hoping to finish the first draft tomorrow, and then editing/citations Monday which will give me two weeks to write my second (final!) essay.

Okay, so I'm house sitting for my sister until tomorrow evening and she has an empty picture frame in her living room among others that have pictures in them already. What/who would be funny to put in there?

I'm curious about voice actors.  How much are they paid?  I have one game idea that will require the use of voice actors.  Sure I could just use text, but horror/drama would not be conveyed easily through that as it would be through voice.  hmm…

Look it up:
http://www.toddschick.com/VoiceoverRatesForVoiceTalentServices.htm
https://www.voices.com/resources/rates

It depends on the reach of the intended work (radio VS TV, VS narrated book etc), and the length in time of the audio you need, calculated in minutes: 60 minutes of audio has a much lower per minute rate than 5 minutes.
It's expansive though so you're best off getting non-pros like we do for the radio plays on DD.

@Hippie- The answer is obvious! The one tue leader needs to go in that frame: Kim Jong Un!

Do not do it They are very expensive (easily run thousands depending on the cast size/words) and working with different audio equipment - you will need to edit the noise out, and that doesn't even include what a pain in the ass it is to edit the voice files based off dialog and add them in. I wont even get into how impossible it is to find actually good voices.

But here's a random vn casting for voice:
https://docs.google.com/document/d/1BunObhKapG4cxtPZiwLjsZ8DhqFoCYD2GzFFR2Zr800/edit
750-800 for this size cast, and this is a free game, those arent commercial rates, which can nearly double per.

I'd just stow the idea away into your 'maybe someday' feature creeps.

Heh… well, the reason I was asking was if somehow I have a game that required voice acting, I might ask my fellow DrunkDuckers for help.  And if the game was a runaway hit I'd repay them for helping make it so.  :)

I figure if Scott Cawthon can make hundreds of thousands of dollars on the sale of just three games he made himself then I could too.  Well… if I got lucky enough (your games have to stand out to make that much money I think).

Ha! Well unfortunately your suggestion came too late, but I did just set that as the wallpaper on my iPad. Who is that?

I ended up putting a picture of Drake in the frame. He's normal-looking enough that I figured it would take a while for them to notice, but also my sister's fiance hates him. Kim Jong Un was a close second though, oz! :P

Totally killing it on the essay front. Just doing up the citations for my second-last essay (3000 words written over two days plus a job interview on one of those days, that's gotta be a record) which gives me two full weeks to finish the last one. Still a bit panicked about it, but less so than before.

Edit: Okay, a comics forum is probably not the best place to test out ideas for essays but I'm gonna do it anyways. I'm thinking about dumping the topic I was planning (Constructions of Masculinity) for my final American History essay and replacing it with Commodification of the Body. The topics/arguments I'm thinking of would be commodification in the contexts of Sexuality, Race and Labour. Any thoughts?

Edit edit: It's a historiography essay by the way, looking at how a certain broad topic has been treated by historians over a 15-20 year period.

That's so massively broad Hippie, you have a lot of leeway there. :)
Just the fashion industry alone, or even a small part of it like catwalk models, could account for those aspects- "commodification in the contexts of Sexuality, Race and Labour."
Even actors in film! But I'm sure that's a lot more academic literature on the fashion industry.
That industry is all about the specific commodification of the body through sexuality, race, and labour, plus  it's a big, fun, easy target.

Yeah, I think it's broad enough to make finding sources not too hard at least. I'm thinking there could be some really cool points to make about the relationship between actual physical commodification of the human body (along the lines of prostitution or - this is really morbid, sorry - the sale of body parts of lynched black people) and the kind of commodification you're talking about through beauty products etc.

That's more litteral than I was thinking… but it shouldn't be difficult to make a good case for all the points you list.

So I saw commodification of the body and thought of bodies and historiographical essays going into the toilet.  Or how much is really shit and should be left in the commode. But then human waste is a commodity especially if want to make the base elements for gun powder or a good dye fixative.

I'd probably write an essay on that; the historiography of human waste as a commodity entitled Commodification of the Contents of the Commode.

I wanted to buy some silver cord to add even MORE rows of braid to my hussar jackets, but I knew it'd be expensive so I thought I'd try wholesale through Alibaba.com instead.
It looked promising… only $0.10 per metre, minimum quantaty 100m. WOW, only $10 for 100 metres???WTF?

Too good to be true… Turns out the price per metre for 100m is $0.95, plus $48 shipping, so like almost $150 for the lot.
The $0.10 price per metre is if you buy 25000 metres… FAAAAArrrrrrrrrk! Who would EVER need that much cord?????
TWENTY FIVE KILOMETERS!

It'd probably come in a full size sea container. You could build a house from that much cord… You could knit a coat for the statue of liberty with it…

I never claimed to be otherwise.  My eyes are brown afterall.  But as i enter my fifth decade I have to consume plenty of fiber to ensure good colon health so I am not quite as full of shit as I once was.
