… I missed out on a great career as a linguist.

2015 Rant/Share/General Discussion thread
Well, found the source of my DNS errors. Turns out my router was going bad due to all the shenanigans from the power company. It was simple to fix, though. A hard factory reset, then a firmware update, then finally adjusting my wireless channel so my tablet won't have such a hard time surfing the internet.
That was a major headache to deal with…
Thank god Lonne! Now you can look up pics of sweaty vag. XD
That's really what it smells like… It permeates the entire office after she's been. I stongly suspect it's some kind of pherremone perfume, like from a rhino or an elephant or something.
It's not nice.

I got my aviator sunglasses back today! Hooray! All fixed :D
This old pair of gold frame 1970s Raybans used to belong to my dad. I've had them fixed time and again, but they're STILL going strong. Awesome pair of sunnies.
While I was waiting (it's been a week), I tried using my nice fake raybans with green gradient lenses I got in Spain last year, but that didn't work out at all- the were fine for the weak Euro sun but do NUZINK for the radioctive glare of the nuclear Aussie sunlight.
So I used my 1930s round lensed antique Wilson sunnies instead… They are REALLY dark, with leather side peices so almost no light gets in. They're great, but they have spring hooks that go over the ears instead of wings so they're fiddley to put on and the leather side pieces mean you're blind to everything that's not dead ahead, so they're a bit dangerous.
The old style flat lenses are a LOT clearer to look through though than modern shaped glass or plastic, even when its dirty.
Hadn't checked this thread in a while and scrolled right to the most recent post. O_o Thanks for the imagery, oz.

Today has been a bit of a rollercoaster. I had a meeting to talk with a prof about my research proposal for his class, and he okayed my topic but seemed really iffy about it. I was really excited about my idea before this, and I really respect this particular prof and feel compelled to impress him so I was feeling crappy about the whole thing.
And then came home and had a letter from the University, saying I had been awarded a $10,000 scholarship. I genuinely thought it was a typo at first, and had to check my university account to see if that was the actual amount. For context, that's about two years' tuition at an average Canadian university. I'm feeling kind of bewildered - no one has ever thought I was worth that much money before, and to have it just handed to me with such a casual letter is really crazy. I feel like I want to tell everyone, but I'm pretty sure it will just make my friends hate me so I'm just sort of quietly crying to myself right now.

That's fantastic!!!!!!
Quackcast 244 is ALIVE! Along with the 11 minute viedeo of us in costume on youtubes… As well as HERE on DD: https://next.theduckwebcomics.com/video/
That's right, we actually have videos on this damn site. Does anyone remember that? I didn't, till I started doing vids and though "heeeeey… wasn't there a vid section at one stage…?" and amazinigly it was STILL there so I'mma usin' it!
It finally came!
I have never had a real microphone for the Quackcasts, now I finaly do… I might actually sound almost as good as Banes for once.
I chose this type because it looks like a medical device from a Terry Gilliam movie… also it doubles as an anal probe torture device/dental drill. XD

Coincidentally I was trying to find something on the admin side of the site the other day and saw that section. And also tutorials! It must be years now since someone's done one of those.
We can't be in the same room together anymore… ever since Banes got the dog suit my trouser legs haven't been safe :(

Banes- thanks man! Your's is probably better though to be honest. Mine looks cool and it's made of nice heavy material, but it was relaivetly inexpensive- certainly not a brand item, just one of those no-name Chinese makers I think. It's a lucky dip with buying that stuff.
For anyone who didn't see the newspost, Secret Santa sign ups are up! theduckwebcomics.com/forum/topic/177384/
The Paris incident is bad, I feel sorry for them.
Unfortunately these things bring out the nasty anti-islam bigots in reaction…
Sympathising with the French people is the right way to go, not having some xenephobic rant like an idiot. Afterall, this stuff happenes every second da in Iraq and Afghanistan and who bought the war there….? The same por-war antiislam morons who're ranting now,
And here's me with my counter-rant -_-
But the thing is, those bottomfeeding members of our population dance to the tune of the terrorists, like the unthinking blobs of reaction they are: the terrorists only objective is more strife and a wider spread war and that's exactly what the biggots call for every time this happens. Then they persecute the intergrated Muslim populations and blame them for the terrorist attacks, which in turn alienates them and sows the seeds for more terrorists and so on.
Yeah, I'm really concerned about how Canadians seem to be responding so far. Our prime minister posted a short message just saying that our thoughts are with France, and under both the French and English version the top comments were something like "AND YOURE PLANNING ON LETTING IN 25,000 OF THEM." I hope Trudeau has the courage to fulfill that promise even if it becomes unpopular in the wake of this event.
