I love how many girls there are on DD! The world of comic geekery can be a touch lonely. Webcomics not nearly as much. ^_^
It was too lovely outside today to do anything but lounge in the backyard, so I ended up getting some work done just laying about in the swinging chair. Here I am lounging like a delicate lady.

Hey ya, big boy, why don-chya come up and see me sometime?
Delicate lady as in the Great Mae West?
Just got back from Japan!
At the Tobacco and Salt Museum, which is actually suspiciously well-done.
Spending our change on capsule machines! I also bought a cat bandanna.
That shrine with all the orange arches.
Magical misty mountains! Takayama was my favourite place we visited.

Yes, Hippie!! Looks amazing, I am so excited to go! If you have any suggestions/tips, please throw them my way!
Oh, for sure! Well, get a JR rail pass if you haven't already. :)
The trip out to Nara from Kyoto is worth it! I was expecting there to just be deer sort of wandering around near people, but they're super used to humans and you get to pet them and feed them and everything. It was lovely.
I also loved Sanjusengen-do, but I was raised Buddhist so it's probably partly a nostalgic/sentimental thing for me. (All the buddhist temples smell so much like my childhood.) I think it would be pretty remarkable for anyone, though.

Awesome, I have heard good things about Nara, and I'll check out Sanjusengen-Do, I actually know very little about Buddhism, so it would be interesting to check out!
And I need to go get my JR Pass, should do that soon in case Canada Post goes on Strike…
Thanks :D!

Sanjusengen-Do was nicer than some of the other temples imo because they try to maintain the fact that it's a temple and not just a tourist spot. Lots of people visit, but they have you take your shoes off, no photos, and they ask you to be quiet. Some of the other popular temples are super crowded with everyone taking a million photos and buying souvenirs, and it's difficult to properly enjoy the statues/architecture/what have you.
Hopefully it will be cooler by the time you're there! The crazy heat kind of limited how much we could do some days.
Edit: Oh! Public washrooms don't always have soap or paper towels, btw. (And sometimes they are weird squatting toilets.)
Like Hippie, I also just got back from Japan. I only brought my Iphone so my pictures are just silly. My friend brought his really nice camera and is in the process of editing his photos so if anyone wants to see any good ones, give me a shout.
