Inspired by Gunwallace's News post from yesterday, who's interested in a meet-up?

What I'm thinking is
(a) identify a day and time that most interested people are available globally
(b) have local f2f meet-ups. For example, in NJ some coffee/food chains, like Starbucks and Panera Bread have free wifi. So theoretically Bravo and I could actually meet with other NJ DDers in person. Maybe Genejoke, Ironscarf, Skool could meet in a pub? And then
© connect long distance with Skype. So, eg, Bravo could hook up with the pub on his lap top and I could hook up with Oz, who's hooked up with… And so on.

Right now this is spit-balling, plenty of room for tweaks. What say y'all?

Locations

Australia: ozone
CA: Kawaii
Canada: ashtree, Hippie
FL: plymayer
MS: Luccia, Kota
NJ: ayes, bravo
NY: fallopiancrusader
TX: dueeast, Niccea, Zac
VA: Bruno, usedbooks
WA: KAM

I'm fairly new to the Duck but I wouldn't mind meeting some new folks and talkin shop. I Live in Virginia Beach, VA, but I think I've got Skype on this thing somewhere.

I'm Ozoneocean on Skype… as I am everywhere. :)
I've generally found that Saturdays are the best time for most people because most of us have that as a day off and it fits well within global timezones- like it's early Sunday morning for Gunwallace out in NZ and early Saturday Morning for people in LA, Saturday afternoon for most of Europe, and Saturday night for me in Western Australia, people in China and parts of Russia. -not that we have may vocal members in those places.

This would be so cool! Ayesinback said we could do that after I said I wish I could meet DD people in Gunwallace's post.. so yes so down! I don't work weekends so Saturdays always work for me :D

I would definitely be down for a Saturday skype chat! Unfortunately I doubt there are any other Canadian prairie DDers who I could meet up with in person, haha (although iirc you're originally from the prairies, ashtree?). Saturdays are usually good for me.

As anyone who has listened the the Quackcast knows I have Skype. Had some great conversations with ozoneocean, Tantzaerine, Banes and PIT_FACE. So just let me know so I can set aside the time.

You know Jerrie is also in New Jersey.

There wouldn't happen to be any Mississippi DDers, would there?

This I did not know. There might be more.

I'm going to edit the first post to add locales and update it as interested DDers indicate where they are so they can PQ each other to see if a meet-up is doable. But I won't add any one who doesn't either post here or PQs.

I'm vickie.boutwell on Skype.

I live in Chincoteague, VA for now but will move back to south-central VA in fall. My work schedule and remoteness might prevent meet-ups. Internet is iffy (think 1990s) but I can Skype with advanced planning.

Yikes! I am all for meeting people from Drunk Duck, I just do not know if there are any in Southern California that would want to meet me. Heck, I would definitely contemplate the idea of traveling to meet the ones I would like to meet.

Maybe we need a date?
Some Saturday in the future.
Not too far ahead that people forget and lose interest, but far enough so that people can make plans.

I'm in New York City, so Eastern time zone (GMT-5). Definitely up for a meetup or skype. Or maybe an expedition to Comic Con or something like that too

How does Sat., 21 May suit? Also, could someone throw the idea on a news post so it gets a little more distribution?

Maybe it could be like "the third Saturday of the month" and be an ongoing thing. Because I'll be camping May 21st, and I hope there'll be more than one opportunity to do this.

I'll probably not be able to join on any day. I work weekends all spring/summer. Maybe I can catch up in fall before holidays start sapping everyone's time.

If anyone else's weekend falls on Monday/Tuesday, let me know. We can have our own group. ;)

Sounds like fun. Not to sure how it would work.

I live in the Tampa Bay, in Florida USA. So, US eastern daylight time currently.

OK
Let's schedule the first one for the 21st of May. Normal Quackcast time is a good time for it I've found because it fits in everyone around the world at a sort of achievable hour, though it's still very early and late for some.
So that's 11AM New York time. People can work at what that is pretty easily in their local time.

And future ones can be on the 3rd Saturday of the month like Bruno says.

For people like Usedbooks there will have to be a separate alternative meet-up time. Non-weekends aren't as flexible for me.

Well, I used to be in MS.

I'm in Texas as well, but Texas is a huge state. I'm in Austin as well.
