I love my new baby laptop, but it basically forces me to use an uncomfortably large resolution for it's smaller than average screen, making text and things tiny. It wants me to use 1360x768 on a 10 or 11 inch screen. It has lower settings, even 1280x720 would be better, but they're all blurry for some reason. It pisses me off. Why have different resolutions if none of them work?

Understandable, you being in Poland. Wonder if any of our US population here can make it?Looks more and more likely that I'll be able to get to San Diego Comic Con. Anyone else going?I'm not going. I'd have to walk there and sleep on the street or something… not to mention gatecrash the whole thing, haha.
Could be fun though.
I know the Americans are a small minority here and that the Aussies, Brits, Poles, Dutch, Irish, and Icelanders are our main users, but I still wonder… :)

Normally you have to click an "auto Adjust" feature, if you can find one, to get it to work correctly. That's what I've found of every LCD screen I've ever had.
… don't know where you'd find that on your new laptop though :(
Maybe a software setting somewhere in the display properties…? I dunno.

UGH it's so cold here right now!!!!!!!! But the days are sun-shiney bright. Just no heat, unless you're sitting in the sun.
Got my Protoculture edition of all the Robotech series yesterday! Woot! The opening and closing screens have been updated, which is annoying, but it's MARVELOUS to have the whole thing! Especially since I bought the two original Japanese series that made up the last two parts of it (Mospeada and Southern Cross). Very cool. ^__^
And I worked out how to make my main DVD player region free (from here), so now I can watch all my excellent discs on the big screen. :):):)
…Who knew it'd be as easy as a stupid number code on your remote???!!! o_O
yeah, I can't seem to find an auto adjust. I think it's because its recommended resolution may be nonstandard (1366 x 768) and so all the others it's trying to stretch to fit (leading to blurriness) or a nice crisp picture which doesn't fill the available screen. I've figured out how to enlarge the overall text to a custom size though, but who knows if that will apply to all text or just Windows menus and stuff. I have to restart to find out.

It's not so easy with Sony dvd players, which I found out the hard way. :[ Even with the special remote, the codes for mine no longer seem to work. The only way I have now to watch my US dvds is via my PS2 (which uses a voltage converter box because it's from the US), or on my portable dvd player (which is an easily-unlocked Philips)
THE SHOES!!!!Hope they fit ^^
They sure as hell do! :D
woah nice strappy shoes! they look hard to walk in though
Well, I didn't have the time to properly wear them yet, just try them on whether they fit. My room's too packed with stuff to really see whether they'll be good for walking or not, but they seem stable enough. There's a chance I'll be home alone somewhere in the upcoming week soI'll test them properly then and there.
So all I know so far that standing in them and making tiny steps is easy, haha.
Make the pain stop! ;_;
I stayed home from work because of this damn kidney stone. The pain killers my doctor gave me don't work at all. – It was working but wearing off long before I was allowed to take another one. Hot baths have stopped working. I can't even sleep for more than a half hour at a time because of the pain. I'm so tired. It hurts to sit, lie down, stand up. It hurts to drink water – and that's what I've been forcing myself to do. It doesn't feel like this will ever end.

Ugh… I hope it does end. Stones can be painful; I watched my father double over in pain once from gallstones…
Great… so I watched a preview of a new game coming out called "Naughty Bear". Really violent, really shocking (to me anyway). How bad is it? Well… if you're evil enough, you can make your victims kill themselves. O_O
And I want this game… Still… even though the things are teddy bears the game's premise is still quite a shock to me…

…Apologies to usedbooks… that really IS a real pain in the privates o_o
American DVDs tend o have the best covers and the best selection of special features.
if you're evil enough, you can make your victims kill themselves. O_OPshaw, that's nothing. Skool and I can do that to DD users any time we want. It's one of the secret admin powers. :)
…well, it was a secret.
Guess what's going to happen now Lonnehart? >:]
Ugghh, I may have said this a lot of months back but I still haven't found it. My poor poor Russian tank helmet that my dad got me from Berlin is still m.i.a.. During the move from America back to Australia it's become lost in the boxes and boxes of shit we have. It may be hidden away somewhere but I've almost given it up for dead. It looked like this but it had a great soviet button on. One like this
.
Please come home, Russian tank helmet, I love you.

That's terrible. I know how bad, because I just lost my camo bucket hat and there's no chance I'll ever see it again. That hat was a part of me. I just logged in to post that fact and here you are, equally bereft.
I'm holding an all night vigil in memory of our lost titfers.
Oh goodness, I may have to just invest in other types of war head-ware to satisfy the space in my heart that lacks my Russian tank helmet. I actually have a kevlar Australian army helmet and an israeli helmet with a bullet hole in it, but nothing can compare to my Russian tank helmet. Nothing. Please come home, Russian tank helmet, I love you.

'Tis comforting to see that their are others in this same position, yet horrifying to know that other people's hats are also missing.
Let me pray to the hat god…
Let me pray to the hat god…Thanks for that.
I know what you're saying, and I hear you, but my powers are limited I'm afraid… I'm better at giving people bad hair.
That's right, it's not the hats that do that ;)
This is the best I can offer… BY THE POWER OF EBAY...
I thank you for trying, oh mighty Hat God. But none of them can fill the void. I need my tank helmet. Also none of them had cool Soviet buttons!Let me pray to the hat god…Thanks for that.

And my dad is getting back from Ukraine today and he said he had something for me, so you never know…

I hope this means your prayers to the hat god are answered - good luck!
I've trawled the net but my particular camo bucket was made for one season only. I'll probably have to settle for some lame alternative:

Or maybe just never go out again.
well, my prayers to the hat god have been answered. I thought he would and I was right, Dad got back with a brand new Russian tank helmet. When I say "brand new" I mean to say "brand new to me" because it's clearly been in the field. It's old and worn out but there are some nice quick stitch up jobs on it. It gives it such a cool feeling cause it was clearly somebody's helmet once and it's been used a lot. It's a bit different and looks more like this but more worn out.
Ironscarf, I hope that Ozone can be as good to you as he was to me and that you can find your beloved camo bucket hat.
Get the leather one with the full radio phones! Playing with the radio phones and throat mike is where the real fun is.
Irony, I actually was in the military and wore all kinds of helmets and crap and have no desire to own any of them now that I'm out. I even got rid of my collected stuff. I had whole foreign and vintage uniforms with field gear. All the romance goes away when you have to wear it for real day in and day out.
I will also resist all temptation to comment that Russian tank helmets aren't supposed to have the red star insignia. Street venders put random insignia on headgear and hawk it on street corners. My sister brought home a field cap with all kinds of cool insignia on it including a huge Romanov double headed eagle.
Worked two twelve hour shifts and played lots of chess and mah Jong on my laptop. I even formatted four pages for my comic, which was convienent because I needed to update. lol! Let me interrupt this chess game to actually do some work.
I still haven't passed that kidney stone. :( My pain killer has kicked in, so I have an hour or so without agony before I start counting minutes until I can have another one. ^_^; I have to go to the hospital for blood tests today. If it doesn't pass by Wednesday, my doctor wants to consider more aggressive options. @_@
But all that has been alleviated some when I saw Gelotology on the front page. That was really unexpected. Heh. Leave it to skoolmunkee to pick the week when I most needed a pick-me-up. ^_^

Really? I thought we were the majority on DD. Go figure, I guess the law of averages doesn't always count.
A helmet was one of the things we found while cleaning out studios at the school this year. One of the guys on my crew got to take home a well-used 1960's/70's era dark blue flight helmet. Or at least I think it's from that time period. It looked like the ones I remember from photos of pilots flying F-4 fighters.
As for my reason to rant, I have two. One, I bought a copy of Just Cause and Red Dead Redemption on Friday and was in heaven getting to finally play xbox again after not having one for two years. Then, Saturday, everything is going great, I'm happy as can be and all of a sudden, "KACHUNK!". It's like my xbox was telling me in his own happy way, "Hey! You know how this was totally making your week? Well, I decided to be a prick and eat your game disc! Now there's huge-ass scratches in your brand-new copy of Just Cause!"
And then today, I got a call from the real estate agency to tell me that someone had decided to offer them extra money per month for the amazing, brand-new-yet-still-actually-within-my-price-range apartment I had found and that unless I could match it, they didn't care that I'd already agreed to put down my security deposit, they were going to give it to that person.

I hate the closing shift. I hurt everywhere. :(
At least I had awesome customers today. One lady tipped me and then these two girls were super patient when I totally messed up and had to get help with the till.
I think customer service thinks I'm a moron now, though. They even recounted all the money when I brought it to them. Fortunately I was spot on, because I actually do know how to count, even if I suck at everything else.
