Also sorry to hear about your loss. Even when everyone expects it, it's still always a shock.

Sorry to hear about that Hippie, my thoughts are with you. Sounds like Uncle Glenn is fondly remembered though, whatever his flaws were. That's the best any of us can hope for I think.

Thanks, you guys! I really appreciate the support. I'm doing okay, although the whole situation is a bit stressful right now. My mom has flown in to deal with stuff, and we'll probably just have a small service in someone's house.

Something really sad - my sister is getting married in about a month and a half. The very first RSVP card she got back didn't have a name on it, and yesterday we realized comparing the handwriting to a birthday card that it was from my Uncle.

My condolences on your loss, Hippie.  If anything, you have your memories of him.  Losing family is never easy…

Well, Dolphin slapped me in the face really hard (as a CAT 2 hurricane), but I'm back.  Mostly…  I think…

I am very sorry about your Uncle's passing, Alex. I remember that you mentioned him on the forums before. That story about the first RSVP your sister received can be seen in a positive light because before he died, he wished to join your whole family for the really happy occasion. His memories will be with you and your mom now. May he rest peacefully.

I just finished watching the finale for The Voice: Season 8. As long as I have been watching this show, my favourite contestants never made it through the initial rounds or get voted off before the top five. This season had two folk-revival singers that caught my attention right away and I tuned in weekly to make sure they continued performing on the show until the end. I was so happy that the front-runner won because it reminded me the world can be fair sometimes.

Greece is great! I still have this same cold that I've had for a week and a half though so now I think it's probably the flu. My voice is rough and whispery.

I lost my passport the other day so I had to file a police report and go to the Aussie embassy to pay for it to be cancelled and then pay for an emergency one. Very expensive! But I got to see what the embassy was like…

It's on the 6th floor of an office building. You have to go through a metal detector and get fully searched, more thoroughly than at an airport, emptying all your pocks and the entire contents of your bag, explaining what each thing is.
Can't bring phones or tablets through… Then you get to go and see the people at the front desk who you talk to through and armoured glass window wtf?
And you talk to zero Australians.
Even the Greek lady at the desk who I dealt with had an American accent.

I should get a temporary passport tomorrow or the next day.
I should also see Pit and Tantz together tomorrow!

Sorry about your uncle Hippy!

Sorry about your loss, Hippie…

I had to spend the last two days in the hospital… good news, I'm still alive… bad news, I'm still alive… I was told I'll be able to go home tomorrow… either I'm released or I'll run away… ok, maybe not run… but I'm crawling out of here!

Egads tupapayon! I'm glad to hear you'll get out soon! Did you fall victim to defeating hordes of baddies and protecting damsels in distress again?! You'll never learn!

@tupapayon: Oh my goodness! I hope you're doing alright!

So far today I've done my readings for my online course, written part of tomorrow's newspost, and worked on my webcomic script. And gotten paid for it. This is a pretty great job - a small number of people come by every day to see the museum, and in the down time between tours we're free to sit on the porch or in the entranceway and do as we please, within reasonable limits of course. My coworkers and boss are really nice, too - my boss is coming in to cover for me on the day of my uncle's funeral, and told me I didn't have to worry about coming in in the morning beforehand.

Thank you for your good wishes… @JNP: the world would be a better place if every damsel learn kung fu… @KL: the details of my madness are of no consequence… @Hippie: (I don't know why I insist on thinking your username is HippoVan) you have a good job and a nice boss… I have a boss that's more a friend than than an employer to me… on other news, I learned today that if you're commiting a crime you shouldn't eat pizza…

Well, to replace my old (and very broken) Nintendo 3DS, I went and bought the new 3DS XL (the one with the control nub).  And with it I bought a couple of currency cards to buy a game that was out of stock in the store called "Story of Seasons".  Made by the creator of the Harvest Moon series and marketed in America without the company Natsume's help (they usually publish Marvelous Entertainment's Harvest Moon games).  It's called "Story of Seasons" because Natsume owns the rights to the Harvest Moon games in the U.S.  Then Natsume comes out with their own "Harvest Moon: The Lost Valley", which I thought was way below my own expectations for a Harvest Moon game.

I do like the music in this game though, with the track for the trailer being my favorite.

Hippos are cute… but they kill about 500 people a year…  Whereas Hippies only kill a few (gazillion) braincells a year…! :D

Well my Kickstarter has ended! I raised roughly $22,500 for a niche yuri game inside of a niche genre. 0_0"Floored" is kinda an understatement.
I thought this would never even get funded, I'm such a small fish dev even in the VN world. Now I have more backers than my tumblr and twitter combined and then some. Pretty insane. Well I've got lots of game dev stuff to do.
Oh and my artbooks sold out like crazy I had to up the limit twice. Maybe i'll do a pure yuri artbook KS once my game is complete. XP

So how does this kickstarter thing work anyway (from the viewpoint of someone who has used it)?  I'm tempted to try it, but I won't do so until I have an actual working demo going.
Oh, well.  Found out why my computer had been freezing lately and giving me hard drive errors.  It's amazing how one bad stick of RAM could cause so much trouble.  Then again your computer can't run without RAM (it will boot without a hard drive), so there's that…

Well done skullBie. You must have done A good job if convincing people you we're worth supporting.
So, the duck is lite on community projects, maybe lite bites could make a return.   I'm just considering it as it would need contributors and that can be tricky to arrange. Or maybe a new project in a similar vein.

You should try your hand at organizing the radio play!

My uncle's funeral was today. It was very sad, of course. Lots of crying. But it was nice to see that even with how transient he was for so long, there were so many people there who spoke of his kindness and his gentle soul. A man even came from a mission centre where he had stayed for a while some time ago, which I was surprised by because I'm sure they must see so many people coming through all the time. His children both had really touching things to say about him, as well as their half-brother and their mom. I just hope my cousins will be alright.

Even Project Wonderful ads aren't all about comics.  The most pernicious one I have addresses teen pregnancy.  And of course one particular comic's ad is EVERYWHERE.  I'm almost ready to go back to the normal targetted ads for the last website I visited before The Duck.
