social vs private healthcare
Groooooan… Don't start this here. You can whine about which is better but bringing up examples of how shitty your experience was when you tried either is not gonna solve anything. You see, there is such thing as poor and good examples of everything.

Search hard enough and you can find a piss poor example of a system that you'd otherwise think is perfect, while finding shining examples of something you think can't possibly work. I'm getting too tired of listening to the same arguments over and over again.
"Really? You think that socialized medicine is the key? Well then you must be a communist and you should go back to Soviet Russia. Oh right. That collapsed. That aught a show you how good socialism is. You know who else were socialists? Nazis."
…ugh.

If you want to continue this, take it to the debate section.

Edit: In fact. I encourage you guys to do so. That section has been a bit slow for awhile.

Ahhh ahah no, god no, I've been to that section a few times.
I wasn't debating, just angrily saying FUUUUUCK YOOOOOU HEALTHCARE.

I wasn't trying to target you with my remark. I just noticed that enough people had responded to your comment with their own stories about why social/private healthcare sucked, even though you weren't specifically starting a topic about that.

I've had my own bad experience with my socialized healthcare but I also have some good experience, including the time where it save my life (or at very least prevented me from having a permanently damaged heart).

Meh, try interviewing with at least three companies a semester for three semesters and only getting one job offer and STILL not have a coop position after going to the meeting that has about 85% of students get offers and coop positions. I've got two years left. If the guys reviewing my application for the company turn me down, I've got one more shot at a coop starting this fall, but if I get turned down this time and get nothing this fall, I may just say screw it and drop out of the Coop program. I like the job I have now, but I do not want to be a delivery driver for the next few years.

Seriously, it's kinda sad that I am an able programmer in C++(as in I can code something that works if I have some idea pf what I need it to do and access to a reference) and the only job I have been able to net is at a sandwich shop.

Go freelance? Approach people or companies you know that need that sort of help and you may get something. Create something really cool with your skills and shop it about…?

Seriously, you could be making sandwiches for Steve jobs! ^_^

I never suspected that crocty was… Seems pretty bright and well adjusted here at least. Pity that didn't translate well to his experience at school.

First, if you are tired of listening stop listening.
Second, this is the moan and rant thread. I will moan and rant all I want about health care, love life or lack there of, family, government, personal issues or people that don't like hearing people moan :P

Third the debate section scairs me with its multiple pages. I don't want to read everyones arguement for four pages just to find out my point has been made by people that are more skilled at crafting their words than I.

So, my paycheck pretty much came and went already…

I got about 1450PLN (which is something like 400$)… paid my share of bills, about to pay for my net bills (two months since I totally forgot last month, crap), pay back all the owed money (since I ran out of cash and had to borrow some for food and stuff), buy new shoes, buy some tshirts (moles got to my supply last year and now I'm walking in ones full of holes) socks and underwear… and a new lamp, cause the one I got broke! Oh, and had to order a new used pc cause mine's a piece of shit that crashes whenever it feels like it…

And suddenly I'm left with about 400! Ugh…

Plus, they'll be firing soon at my work too. Well, not much fire as "not extend the contract". Since I'm on the 2 week contracts, I'm one of the endangered ones. Two things work in my benefit, our line doesn't seem to be lacking in orders for now and it's the most productive of them all, so I don't thjink they'd go around dismantling it. So 2B is fairly safe, whereas 1A might get sacked entirely cause they always lag behind with production.
But somewhere next month half of the line will go on holidays, so if I'm unlucky and it starts exactly when my contract expires, I won't have mine extended (if it overlaps, I'll be moved temporarily to another line)… so let's hope the number of orders picks up and they can't fire anyone and have to hire more people… that'd be nice!

Oh well, sooner or later htey'll start producing the tv panels themselves in here, so there's a chance of getting a job there too.

Anyawy… If the new pc works… it's back to creativity :D
Drawing things! Making music! Youtube! Wait, one of these is not like the others…

I´m gonna ignore PP on this one and just continue down the healthcare ranting path…
Several of you americans claim that your healthcare is faster than ours.
OURS=EUROPE?

I don't know about any other countries from personal experience because I have never been sick or injured outside of the Netherlands but I know that healthcare between contries here in europe is really different. (You DON'T want to be sick in Spain)
The Netherlands has the best healthcare around and even we Dutch folks still manage to whine about it ALL THE TIME.

My point being:
Don't get sick, healthcare is NEVER as good as you'd want it to be.

Hm yeah that's the problem, I'm actually smart, the tests say my IQ was in the 91st group, meaning only 9% of people my age are smarter.
Which is weird considering my grades at school suck really hard, because I can never focus, pay attention, bother to revise…
Edit: Oh yeah and also that I never pay attention to current events. God I'm still not sure who the hell our Prime Minister is. The Conservatives won but then the parliment was all hung and shit and it was all too much bullshit for me to handle.

I guess the tests just said that I had potential to be really smart, if I had not dicked about in school.

Oh well. I guess this all has a positive outcome, it makes me realise I seriously need to get my art portfolio together before it's too late to apply for an art college…

I'm getting my xbox slim next week, 'guaranteed'. I'm excited about that controller-less kinect thing, unless it ends up like the shitty wii module, where i have to have 6 batteries around and have to start it up no matter the game i'm playing. >:(

I really want avatar season two and the rest of Xena boxsets right now *o*

Yeah, the old under-achiever thing- where you're pretty brilliant but don't put it to good use. That's what they say.
So what's an over-achiever then? a dumbarse who does well in spite of that?

I love those definitions! :)

Anyway, you'll probably do brilliantly in art school Crocty, you just need to find your niche. It really IS true that different personalities are just suited so much better to different environments. You'll probably find that in art school you fit in perfectly after a while and start to wonder just how you wasted your time for so long in crappy highschool.

Wow, I just decide to redraw that awesome picture of the cats in the trenchcoat, and I needed a picture of a cat for reference. Upon seeing one picture, I spent about 2 hours on this site when I was reminded of an article on it.

2 hours later I still have the SAI file open and the google search open. Jesus Christ…

Edit: Wow that was badly written. However I feel leaving it for preservation reasons would be much better.

But then I'd be removing U's from things, and calling rugby football, and football soccer, and bread biscuits, and it's all too much for me to handle!

I'm sure I'll be fine, that letter just really annoyed me.

Rugby and American Football are entirely different. And Australian Football is nothing like either. (Thought you could keep that little secret from us didn't you Ozone.)

All this debating potential, wasted on the rant thread.

Fine then. Debate about it here. I stand by my socialized health care simply because it grants everyone basic coverage. Those against it can throw dumb remarks about it being slow and clotted but I honestly don't see how throwing out the people who can't afford ridiculously expensive treatments is a better alternative.

Oh Aussie rules has something more in common with those others aside from a ball and big simple men playing it- it's very dull to watch… at least to me. :(

I really dislike hospitals. They're fine places as far as it goes, full of professional, hard working people. But I don't like being inside them, even to visit someone. They remind me FAR too much of my own mortality and that of those I love.

So tired….My sleeping patterns have been seriously fucked in the A. I hope to fix them by staying up until a reasonable time, but knowing my luck even though I'm tired I'll stay up until 4am for no bloody reason.
Bluh bluh bluh.

Also I'm bored constantly throughout the day ever since AQua and Kitty left. I have had no one to talk to. There's Pastel, but she leaves too early for my sleeping patterns. I thought posting in the forums constantly would help my boredom, but then I just incessantly and OCDly refresh the forums. I have issues.
Oh well, gives me time to finish Donkey Kong 64 and Half Life 2 Episode 2 part 1 the return of the sequal.

Healthcare ready? GO!
Now I'm going to refuse outright to post in it.

EDIT: ARGH and I type like a mentally retarded goat wearing boxing gloves when I'm tired. :|

I really don't know too many people who relish the idea of visiting hospitals for any reason. Doctors hate being on call, it's another 10-12 hour day in the life for staff, patients certainly don't want to be there and guests? They're visiting patients and no amount of flowers, get-well cards, stuffed animals or cheery volunteers make the experience any better.
The best are day-stay procedures because you know you'll be leaving very soon as they want you in-and-out and you're grateful because you can't wait to leave. Yeah, I feel like my balls are hanging around my kneecaps, my entire groin is screaming in pain from the HUGE incision for my hernia repair but sure I'll try to piss just so I can get out of here!
How long do I have to lay here on a stiff back board holding a compress to stop the bleeding while listening to a bi-polar manic episode?
You want what in that bag? and everytime I piss you want a specimen? I'm on a liquid diet! I piss all the time…

But those hawt student nurses, sure you're in the most compromising embarrassing position of your young life since your baby videos. She'll think you're so cool want to go out with you or better yet sex in that hospital bed… right there's a good looking intern right next door who drives a Porsche. You think she's gonna go out with you with all those tubes hanging out of you and that specimen cup in hand on your way to the bathroom?

I love it when I come across threads with people ranting about what they're going to do when they have kids - what kind of parents they'll be and how their kids will be like this and like that. It reminds me of all the crap I thought I would do before I had my own kids and I laugh with gusto! HHHHhhhahhahaaahhhahhhahhaaaaaaaaaaahhhhhaahahahhahhhahahh!

Having kids is nothing like having goldfish.

I used to do that too, the sad thing is they were slow as fuck forums like DD and comic collab sites(like 2-3 posts per day outside of summer D:) That's why i went back to gaia because the forums have lots of posts every hour.

I'm glad i have my best friend and few people i've managed to talk to the past semester, otherwise i'd probably be really depressed :/

I'm trying DDR, ugh i can't get anything past D! And that asshole announcer is always like 'ouch that's gotta hurt!' 'how embarrassing!''what a fag!' ugh i hate him.
I'll show him though, i'll show all those virtual people!

I agree. Fine debate indeed. :3

Oh and I found out that UC Davis demands every student be insured. But don't worry if you can't afford insurance you can buy UC Davis insurance for only $375 a quater. Hate life.

Hey, when I have kids they will live in a tank, eat fish food and do whatever I tell them.

People are horrible for thinking they are or would be the most amazing parents in the world.
Heck, my dad is a great parent and my little sister is bonkers(as much as I love her). Sometimes kids just do what they want to do.
