. I can't really find much on it and it is pissing me off. D:<Do searches on court cases over prayers in school, reciting whatever oath you guys have in school where it references "god", also court cases about religious monuments on government property, the teaching of evolution, intelligent design, and creationism in government schools- The changing of the textbooks in Texas by conservative parents who got themselves elected to the school board so they could water down the teaching of evolution (among other things). There was a judge that wanted the Ten Commandments to be displayed in a courthouse, there was also long-running controversy over an iron cross erected on government land- it was a war memorial erected by private citizens in a national park… I see this stuff in the news all the time, it's not hard to find. :)

Rant, Moan and Rave - 2010 edition
OH MAN I HAD THE BEST IDEA EVER.
I only had enough coco pops to fill up half my bowl, so I filled the other half with rice krispies. I was so proud of my idea I demanded my dog note the date so I can celebrate it every year.
It was pretty uninteresting. I think I'll stick to my day job.
….I really go quite insane when I can't use the internet. Stupid 7GB download. Stupid Hasslehoff. Stupid everything!
Oh now I'm making hand gestures at the TV hoping to change the outcome. Luckily my thumbs down still told the Roman guys to let Spock and McCoy live. I think it worked.
Oh well I'll get back to drawing Shiggy Miyamoto for a few hours.
Why why WHY do the comics I follow stop updating?? :( Something gets featured, I read it, IT'S GOOD… and then it just STOPS with no explanation. There's been a few exceptions but overall it's very frustrating and makes me sad. I never remove them from my fav's on the off-hand chance that they update again.
Included in this mix are comics that move on to their own URL but don't bother to put a link up so I can keep tabs on them. Some I have managed to jump to… others not so much.

Haha, that's exactly what I did after I got featured! :P
When comics move to their own URL I can never keep up with them, I always just forget to check on them, and then when I remember I'll have forgotten what point I was at. Thank goodness for the DD Alerter.
Sometimes the artist just burns out. They just can't take drawing so much anymore and they want to do something different for a change. Or REAL LIFE suddenly hits them hard… in the face… and KO's them from comics for a long while. It's just coincidence that they stop updating when they get featured. I myself burn out a lot… I only recently started updating again. Of course that's because I found an article on the "tropes" page pertaining to my comic…
that reminds me… I better get to work… already missed my update time…
Thats why they never feature my comics. Cause they never want them to stop. That and their is copyrighted material in there. Stupid monopoly guy being copyrighted. Why why WHY do the comics I follow stop updating?? :( Something gets featured, I read it, IT'S GOOD… and then it just STOPS with no explanation. @Oz: Thanks Oz for the ideas but I meant finding the materail. I'm going with molesting priests, school prayer/no more pledge, President/wittness swearing on a bible and church taxes.
New Rant!
Why do I do this to myself! I always wait until the last secound to do essays! I'm two pages into a 5 page essay. It took me four hours to do those pages! I'd be done already if I could find my stupid writer's handbook that tells you how to do MLA quotations. But no! Its lost. Most likly stolen by a cat. Now I have to go through tons of websites to scrap together MLA info. Its taking so long!
I downloaded this epic graphic novels torrent last year out of boredom, but never read any of them because the art i weird. I opened 'hearts and minds' today and i'm speechless. Wonder if i should ask my dad about it…he never talks about the war and gets all creepy quiet when i ask him

Guys who were in the/any war never talk about the war - all that heroic stuff is just for the movies. I'm sure he will if you asked him, but do it when you're in the mood for grim and gritty.
I asked my dad about his national service - we had that after WW2 for a few years, so he wasn't in any fighting, but he still ended up in a hail of chopped up bodyparts. I guess it's just not the kind of thing you can share with the wife and kids over breakfast.
the stories are really just for others who've done the same. but the old folks who fought in actual wars always tell stories about everything that's not battle.

I had a dream i was timing somebody. i don't remember what for, but the timer went off, and i was like times up! they were all sad. and then i thought "this timer sure sounds like my alarm at home"…..wait a second….
i almost slept through my alarm because it fit perfectly into my dream.
My dad didn't fight, but he had to serve anyway during Vietnam. He has various entertaining tails about being trained to use old 50 cals that hadn't been unboxed since WW2. Having tinnitus and partial deafness for life by various weapons training… The time his finger got chopped off by an APC hatch, and all the operations to fix it… His renowned expertise at catastrophically bogging any vehicle regardless of the size or number of wheels…
One grandfather drove ambulances during WW2 and the other served as an engineer. Not many stories out of them at all about the war when they were alive… Apart from the ambulance driving grandfather waxing lyrical about his love of the big Chevy trucks the US servicemen drove and the engineer grandfather talking about how there were volcanoes and jungles were he was stationed.
So what there was, was colourful. :)

yeah, it's kinda rare you find a vet that likes to talk about the war they were in. My grandpa served in the Korean war as an ambulance driver and he would talk about certain things, maby funny stories or things like that, but of corse he stayed away from the horrible things he saw. he never could watch MASH. i think there's just cetaint things you know that other people wont get. you dont want to go back to those things.
good luck if ya ask yer dad, Skull.maby start by asking him not aobut the war directly, but what was the place like that he was at, i dont know really man. but like, maby ease into it.dont push him if he starts gettin uncomfortable with it. ya know yer dad better than i do though.
and oz, big news man!i cant wait to see what happens with the site!

keep going to Avon, about 30 minutes away everyday to the bookstore and to drive around. it's real hard to sit around lately, but i oughta save some of my money. im finding lotsa great cheap books i can use as references lately though, like getting artist collection books too. i've been taking a shine to classical art lately, believe it or not. picked up a gustave dore book the other day and fell in love with his work. now if i can get some of my OWN done….i've had the same page of putrid meat half colored for like a week now. shit, i gotta get back into the fuckin swing of things! also finally washing my turn out gear today, have to do it by hand cuz neither i nor my dept has a heavy duty washer so im washing it in the tub with detergent. hahaha, second time i've put it through and the water's pitch black! might have another burn comming up though so i gotta get it all ready.
My Grandpa served in WWII. I never heard any stories from him directly before he passed when I was 14, but I knew a few things from my parents:
1. He didn't like to talk about it
2. He had to do some dark and gritty things.
3. He would do something great and get promoted, then something stupid and get demoted. Constantly.
He brought home some medals and the thing I remember most is the doorstop – a disarmed cannon shell. Biggest "bullet" this civilian has ever seen. Very effective doorstop as it's quite heavy.
Yay, my compy's all better now!
My sister got a car (or is getting it soon, at least) that I get to drive since we're learning at the same time. My parents got her a blue one, even though we were secretly hoping they'd get purple so we could refer to it as the "Mauve Avenger". We'll probably end up calling it that anyway, to be ironic. Maybe I'll grow a beard and start wearing horn rimmed glasses too. It's a shame I don't own any plaid…
I need to stop being exceptionally lazy and go do some homework. @_@
Welp it's 5am and I am up and showered! Why? Because I have people to take to the airport. After they have gone it will be back to normal around here, which means… I will be able to make a newspost a bit later today (after grocery shopping, starting laundry and taking a nap)
Wow… Had one of those "webcomic" nightmares…
Some group of "professional" comic artists from the Big Two have decided that to save many great webcomic characters/stories from their mediocre artists/writers, they're going to ignore copyright laws and draw/publish them themselves. And so they make their own versions of those webcomics and attempt to buy a copyright to the titles and characters, etc…
I'm sure this can't really happen… right?
I'm no expert on copyright laws myself so…
Mine dream was creepy, i stole a large toy model from this old comic book seller(his shop was a dingy room with no windows and manga to the walls) and i had to go rip these three stone slabs off the neighbors dog and give them to him as payback. I teamed up with this blonde guy who also wanted the slabs, saying he'd just take the large one. So he held the dog down while i pulled them off–but then the neighbors came out and were about on us before i got the last slab off. I fucked the guy over and let him be captured so i could run away.
Then for some reason i only gave the two small slabs to the bookseller, saying i didn't have time to get the big one off(lies) he told me to stay here while he did something. I knew he was gonna sell me out and say i took all of them–so i wrote a note on his door where he hid them.
Then i walked out of the dorm and he was being hanged in courtyard by the schoolboard 0____o They were looking for the student who had the big slab(me) and i assumed they were going to kill me..
then i woke up
